1960 there was 3 billion people on earth. Now we are 7. What do you think about the future?
China and India has a growing economy and soon they will have the same standard as Europe and USA. The earth natural assets are limited and with a growing population there will be more people who wants a piece of it. Do you think water will be the next “gold “on earth?
Worst case the population of the World led by the examples of the West will be too dumb to pay any serious heed to the human population explosion and continue breeding at an increasingly alarming rate.
Both fresh water and food resources will not be able to keep up and then someone, somewhere will start screaming Somebody should do something...
Or why didn't anybody say something...
Millions of years of Evolution and Man still doesn't understand Natural sustainablity Eco balance, Stupidity, Selfishness and Greed and it will probably be the death of us all as a species.
Let us hope we don't take all other life with us.
Same thoughts as Merlin. I'm thinking the world will start to get desperate during these times of lack of resources, and more fighting will occur. Hate to be a pessimist, but it doesn't look too good for my generation or my daughter's...
Number of peoples is not a matter of problem as said by jangaplanet. Even if the death rate decreased in the last decades still a number of human beings are dieing in natural calamities and wars.
I agree with JangaPlanet, the world is not over-populated. There is a lot of undeveloped land, for instance - forest land. The only thing over populated is the cities. The more people, the more sources of income. Turn most of the people into business minded people, and you can create more billionaires ( an increase of cash flow ) .
Answer to Janglaplanet, ecrider and Shakeel: I know that the world isn’t over-populated and there is lots of area like the woods. But we must be careful. The threes are the lung of the earth and we need it to get oxygen.
Another problem is the earth’s natural assets like oil, iron. copper, silver etc and of course fresh water.
I think it`s time to do something today and stop the waste of the natural assets. Tomorrow could be to late.
Maybe, but not soon. People have a misconception that there is less water now than in the past, but a fifth grader knows about the water cycle. Same amount of water now than there was 50 million years ago. May just be in a different form.
My husband is actually tired of me saying this, but, I believe that many of our problems in society and our ecology today are due to overpopulation of our earth. The planet does not have unlimited resources.

I have heard many good arguments about overpopulation putting a huge burden on resources, from China to India overpopulation has been a issue that needs dealing with. So what is the argument that this is not a problem and it being called one is a hoax? I have heard a few people (mostly on this...
