Page rank is the measure of a pages popularity. A website or page, usually the home page carries the most amount of page rank and that is because it is the primary landing page that most people see first. Also, there is a good chance that every other page on the site points back to the home page.

Page rank is also received or distributed by websites and pages that allow the links leaving their sites to be followed by the search engine spider bots. A do follow tag means that the site is willing to endorse the site that it is linking to, and page rank is passed on to that site. Therefore, it becomes necessary to build links to your sites and pages so that the spider bots can find your site and rank it.

PageRank is what Google uses to determine the importance of a web page. It's one of many factors used to determine which pages appear in search results.

Contrary to what all the above posters had above, Page Rank is neither the measure of popularity of a website, and neither does Google use it to rank websites.

Page Rank is simply a measure of link juice a website receives from its backlinks. Though the exact figure of backlinks cant be posted, just by increasing the count of your do follow backlinks, your PR shall simply increase.

Google does not no longer uses PR or is severally depreciated, and all they do is to update it every 3-4 months.

Over 80% of the Internet's users go to a search engine before reaching a web site. When someone types your product or service's key words into a search engine if the site lists in the first page then chances are there that the user might visit the website. So ranking a website in the first page of the search engine is known as pagerank. You can increase pagerank by article or blog submission, social media, affiliate marketing,SEO methods etc.I insist that SEO is the best and steady way to improve a site's page rank.In short SEO is the best way to promote site and gain your desired web presence. The factors that Google considers are keywords in URL, Title, Text, Domain age,Number of visitors etc.It keeps updating the factors for page ranking. The companies that provide SEO also should update accordingly. If we get services from such a concerned company then we can definitely make SEO to be effective.I have used the SEV(Search Engine Visibility) from http://www.tucktail.com/search-engine/s … _id=447401 as they provide keyword and suggested topics, submit the site to over 100 search engines and also provide reports which eventually improved my website traffic.
