Best Free CV & Resume Templates
Your Free Resume & Curriculum Vitae Templates - More than 100 Templates and tips on how to write one!
I was looking for a free resume template downloads online and wasn't exactly happy with the information offered. It took me quite a while to find some decent CV templates and to go through all the pages (some really had crappy templates and some only claimed to be free while they were far from it) so I decided to createthe ultimate list of best free CV templates - so you won't have to go through tens of pages and simply have them all listed at one place.
I collected blank templates, black and white, colorful... Everything! The ones that can be edited in Word and ones that need some skills with software such as Corel Draw or Photoshop PDF (you can always ask someone to fill the information for you).
You will also find some useful tips you can use for your CV. I was lucky enough to be able to go through a lot of resume's when I was working at my part time job as a student and was asked to filter the resumes for my boss (he really didn't want to go through all of of them) . I was asked to give him all the resumes in which the job applicants would pass all the requirements for the position as well as any other that would be interesting for one reason or another. And as I will soon be going through resumes myself I hope you will find some of my advice useful.
Quite a few of these were made in 2013 so they are up to date.
Free Resume Template Downloads from Comoto
With or without your photo, Word & PDF
Perfect for people with little computer skills as well as computer savvy.
Comoto is a webpage full of useful information about job searching and they also have a great selection of resume templates for free. What I liked most about their designs was the clean look with small artistic details - you can match the design with the job you are applying for- if you are looking for a job as an architect the one with the buildings at the bottom would fit perfectly. They have a huge selection of freebies.
These all come in both .doc and .pdf so choose whichever you feel more comfortable with (or just grab them both). While we are at word and pdf files, if you are sending your CV through email it's better to send it in PDF as they will keep the formatting (there's a chance word files won't look the same on your and your possible future bosses computer).
These are my favourite 4;
Learn the tricks! - How to get a job in 30 days
There's more to finding a job than to just searching job opportunities and sending in your CVs or resumes and hoping for the best. There are so many things you can do to improve your performance and really stand out from your competition.
In this book you will learn a lot! Strategies on how to apply, how to spotlight your best characteristics and most importantly get some insights on how the employers mind work.
This is the design I would go with
I love this one (or these)! If I would be applying for the job, this would be the design I would go with. It is available in 7 colors and all of them look great.
What I loved most about this design was it's very simple and has a splash of a vibrant color on the side. It makes it stand out but still keeps things simple and easy to read.
Another great feature these have is the competency/skill graph. Whoever will be looking at this CV will quickly see what are your strong points and how well you master them - it's all about impressing people as quickly as possible.
It's a pdf file so you do need some skills to make it work for you - not much though so if you like it give it a try even if you don't know how to Photo Shop (or use similar editing software).
Thumbs up for this design.
The Importance of Color
When I was given a big pile of CV's to go through the ones that stood out (different colors, different designs) caught my attention first. It is more likely the employer will read the resume if it stands out. Naturally this isn't a universal rule. But imagine - if you were handed a pile of 100 papers and 99 were black and white and one was yellow which one would catch your attention?
Free Resume Templates from Microsoft Word
All of these can be edited in MS Word or other similar writing software
I had a real hard time looking for MS Word free templates that would look modern and to be free. It finally hit me I should check their official page if they have some and boy was I surprised (very positively). Again I spotlight my 4 favourite however there are more than 60 available at the time of writing and they keep adding new ones.
