Free Microsoft Word Resume Templates

Download Your Free MS Word Resume Templates for Windows and MacOS

I made a collection of best free resumes the other day and though to myself many of you (including me) might prefer the free MS Word list as they are easier to edit, especially if you don't have a lot of computer knowledge.

Resumes are important and picking the perfect layout might just be the difference between you getting that job or not. It is all about being visual now, you have a greater chance of getting your potential employer's attention by sending in an aesthetic CV. Keep it plain and simple.

There are a lot of designs to choose form, even when it gets to free Word resume templates so be sure to get the one that fits the job the most - if you are applying to be an architect I would without a doubt go with the one that has building graphics on it.

The Official Ones

The official Microsoft Office page is a good start for anyone looking for a Word resume template. They currently offer more than 60 templates (some do look a bit obsolete to be honest) and they keep on adding new, more modern looking ones.

What I like about their designs the most is they are very clean and easy to go through. The layout is well structured which will make it easy for whoever will be going through your resume to get all the information needed quickly (and this is what's very important).

Free Microsoft Word Resume Templates from Premier

19 superb templates

Premier created 19 great looking CV templates - you will find all kinds of styles and colors in pretty much every layout possible. I personally like the monogram resume (you will find it in "12 More FREE Resume Templates") the most. There's just something special about monograms I guess - the fact that I might be a bit egocentric has nothing to do with that I promise. I think the advantage the monogrammed ones have is the employer will be more likely to remember your name as it will be reinforced visually by the monogram and that can't be a bad thing. Which one will you go with? Well that depends on the job you are applying to but I think it is safe to say that there is one for pretty much everyone available.

You got your template! But do you know what to write in it?

Make sure you write a killer resume as this is your ticket to a job interview.

A few words can make a difference between your resume ending in a trash can or you getting a job interview.

Quick Tip

When writing about your past work experiences don't just write where you worked but also what skills you perfected during your employment and which tasks you performed.

Each design comes in more color variations

Templates4resume offers a nice selection of free resume templates for Word. They are all modern looking and each of the styles comes in various colors (red is totally my thing). This is a great thing as colors have meanings and in a way by choosing a color you will be also sending a message about yourself. To set your mind at ease, there is no wrong color (although we can argue sending a pink CV with butterflies for a construction worker application probably won't be taken seriously - on the other hand it would get you noticed and the employer would most probably read what you have to say.)

Blue and Pink Template

As a woman you sometimes just want something pink. And in a black and white resume world pink is there to stand out. Sadly there aren't that many available. Well here is one hot pink. And hot blue ;)

They keep it simple and clean. With a touch of art. I think these really look professional and since they have a bit of colorful art on them they will stand out.

If you are sending your CV save it as .pdf!

This will keep the layout

While editing a CV in Microsoft Word is faster and probably easier for most you should save the file as .pdf if you will be sending it through email.

I noticed the layout can change quite a bit from computer to computer if you are using Word (graphics might not be aligned the way you intended, slight changes in formatting, different fonts...) and although this isn't necessarily a big deal, sometimes things can look messy. To avoid this you cansave the file as .pdf. Newer versions of MS Word have this function under "save as". If there isn't such a function you can always use online tools to do the job. Just type "online word to pdf converter free" and you should get all that you need.

Great article and resource! However, I am looking for more complex yet creative resume templates like those on http://www.trendyresumes.com or http://www.cvfolio.com . If for free it's better. Do you know where I could find such templates? Also, they should be for Microsoft Word. Thanks!
