Express yourself

Create a blog and express yourself

Blogging is a great way to express yourself. A lot of times it's hard for us to tell people what we think or feel in person. The written word can be a great way to go about that. Writing things down can be like a journal to get your thoughts out. Too often we as individuals keep things bottled up inside. We don't let our true feelings out.

A blog can help you do that. It can help you work out your feelings in a positive, safe environment. A place where you're not under time-constraint to get stuff out. A place where someone won't interrupt you to get their point of view across. It can give you time to fully work-out what you want to say, without someone else influencing what you want to say.

In this way, blogging can really be a great place to grow as an individual

Blogging can consolidate your thoughts

One of the great things about blogging is it can consolidate your thoughts. Maybe you are interested in, for example, social security disability. You think you know a lot about the subject, but as you blog, you start to realize you need to back up your thoughts with data. It can lead you to understanding the topic more. As you research SSDI you realize just how little money you can make to receive SSDI. It then leads you to start thinking about poor people and how little they actually live on. You start researching a "living wage." Blogging can lead you to many new avenues that you had never even thought of before. You can find yourself becoming even more of an expert in the things that you started blogging about to begin with.

What kind of things can you blog about

You can blog just about anything.

Maybe you have always wanted to blog about your feelings about climate change. Maybe you get into discussions with friends and they bombard your with their opinions so much that you get frustrated and feel like you were never heard.

Again, that's not the case with blogging. You can take all the time you need to say exactly what you want to say.

You can blog about television shows. That is something I like to blog about. It can create a community where like-minded people can share their thoughts about something they love.

You can blog about your kids struggles in school. Many parents have a hard time navigating schools and what it means for their kids. Again, it's a place to get your thoughts down on paper (or the internet) and consolidate what you are thinking.

You could blog about a new brother or sister being added to the family. You could blog about how you feel about your parent's divorce. You could blog about your own divorce. The examples are endless. Truly, that's the great thing. You can blog about whatever you want to.

What I like to blog about

This is what I blog about now

I like blogging about television shows, football, and my struggles with chronic pain. I have three separate blogs that I devote my time to.

The blog I enjoy most is blogging about television shows that I watch. Since I have chronic pain, I don't get out much and I watch a lot of television. It is so nice to transport myself out of my life for a bit. I like consolidating my thoughts about a show that I watch, and Iike getting feedback from like-minded fans.

I also really like blogging about football. As a woman, I sometimes get nervous to share my opinion about football in front of guys. I sometimes feel like they are judging me, or trying to find something wrong with what I say. I don't have to worry about that when I blog. I can perfectly craft what I want to say, and have time to feel good about what I am writing. No one is looming over me, or trying to put me down because I am a woman who likes football.

My football blog has also got me a few friends! Other people, especially women, who like football like to read my blog. That's a nice feeling. I also get to learn a lot too. I follow the Green Bay Packers, but through the blog, I have learned a lot about the Falcons, Cowboys, Bears, and Eagles. I've even learned a lot about the Miami Dolphins. I really, really love it.

I think if you can find something similar, something you love blogging about, the world can be your oyster.

How do you start a blog?

There are a lot of places out there that will let you start a blog. You have to decide which one is best for you.

In particular, I use GoDaddy to host my .com and then I use WordPress to set up my template.

I really like how easy it is with GoDaddy to host. It's really cheap, they always have great deals, and they always have coupons.

The templates I like to use are through WordPress. They make it really easy to navigate media that I insert into my blogs and they have a great layout and look aesthetically to their blogs.

How to use WordPress with GoDaddy

You have decided to create a blog. You sign up for your blog with GoDaddy, a company I highly recommend. Yet, now, you have no idea how to make a cool template.

I suggest WordPress. It's what I use.

Books to help you start your blogging today

Maybe you really like blogging and you have a lot of followers. Maybe you are thinking you could actually translate your blogging into a career.

I have found a book online to help you perhaps make that transition to making oyur blogging an actual job.
