What is Passive Income?

What is a residual income

A passive income, also called a risdual income, means you acquire earnings for something while putting in minimal effort. A common example of a risidual income is rental property. If you own a house and rent it out, then month after month you receive the rental fee on that house all the while putting in minimal effort to earn that check.

In recent years the internet has become a Utopia for making a passive income. There are many different ways to earn money passively online, and the best part is that you can get started today building up your online real estate!

How to Start A Passive Income Business

My tips for working online

How I got to where I am today, earning a steady income every month online, all began with a series of trial and error. I tried various affilate programs, online money making opportunities, and more and then just waited to see what worked. Think of it a bit like fishing with multiple lines out. You'll put a different type of bait on each hook before you cast it into the water and then wait to see which line the fish bite the most then you run with that one.

When I first started working online I had multiple email addresses, free blogs about all sorts of things all over the place, and belonged to various GPT and paid survey sites. It quickly got out of hand. I forgot the email addresses and passwords. I forgot which sites I had signed up with (this is bad because many require that you manually cash out before they'll pay you). It was a mess and I'm sure I have money floating around out there somewhere that I just haven't been able to claim simply because I was unorganized. So, my biggest and most important tip is to get organized NOW. Don't think that you'll try a few things and then get organized later. That philosphy doesn't work well in this business. Things will snow ball and before you know if you'll be so confused and unorganized that it's hindering your earning potential.

Here's how you're going to get organized:

1) Set up a business plan. Don't let the term intimidate you. You are simply going to write out your plan of action. Don't skip this step. It's important. Get a pen and paper and begin by brainstorming how you plan to make money online. You may even want to schedule out your time in this phase. I think missing this step is why most people fail when trying to make money online. This is much different than going to a normal job where you're told what to do and when your deadlines are. You have to be self modivated and organized to be successful online.

2) Keep records. This is extremely important and where I made the biggest mistake in my first year working online. You need to create a spreadsheet to track your earnings. You need to be able to see at a glance how much money you made each month with each site. You need to track your earnings for tax purposes. But you'll also need this information so that you can figure out which monline money makers are working for your and which ones aren't worth your time.

3) Keep a journal of everything you do. This helps you track how you're spending your time. In the beginning most of us who work online wasted a lot of time. We mismanaged our time, got distracted by banner ads and useless blogs, etc. But an even more important reason to keep this journal is so you have good information about what you're doing that's right and what you're doing that's wrong. This journal is going to be your main source for learning the ropes. If your traffic takes a dive, you can look at your journal and see what you did that caused the problem. If you see a sudden jump in sales, checkout your journal to figure out what caused the spike and try to duplicate it again with another site or produc.

The Secret to Earning a Passive Income Online

It's not as passive as you think

The term "passive income" confuses people and all of the cheesy programs that promise that you can work online and become a millionaire aren't helping to make things any clearer. The secret to being successful at making money online is to realize that it takes work, time, and patience. People say it's easy and that's partially true. Working online isn't rocket science. It isn't complicated or difficult work, but it is work. Also the earnings aren't completely passive. Most of the sites you use to earn require updating. Think of it like a garden that needs tending. If you don't take care of a garden then it gets overgrown with weeds that will choke out all of the produce. But with just a little time consistently weeding and caring for a garden the plants will grow and flourish. Earning a passive income works the same way. Keep your sites updated and current to boost your earning potential.
