How To Get Traffic To Your Website

Building your website is easy. Getting people to come to your website is another story.

So many things have been written on the subject that its even harder to know what is right and what is not gonna work.

So in this lens I am going to share with you the things I have done to get traffic to my website.

Some of these may not work for you because it all depends on what your site is about and what kind of people you are targetting.

Pick and choose from these methods to see what works for you.

When you find something that works, stick to it and drive even more traffic.

How To Get Free Traffic From Search Engines

SEO = Search Engine Optimization

The beginning of getting any traffic to your website from the big search engines start with your website and its content. SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the art of tailoring your websites content so the search engines index your site and add it to search results. The benefit of good SEO is that you will get free traffic from google and bing. This free traffic is the lifeblood of many a website even more so now that google has repeatedly changed the game.

So the first step is to make sure your website has original content much like we have to write here on squidoo and optimizing it for search. The steps for optimization are very complex, so having an expert look at your site is recommended.

Remember this step is the most important if we want to get free traffic from google.

Click the Big link below to get a free trial of a good done for you SEO service.

What is a Done for you SEO Service

Ranking your site in Google and Bing can be a tedious job. Sometimes its easy to get good rankings but the tricky part is keeping your rankings for the longrun. Someone will sooner or later be targeting your keywords when they see your site ranking because they know you are making money and want a piece of your pie. So I compiled this list of things a done for you SEO Service should provide.

  • Initial Website Analysis - In order to get started they will do a website analysis to see what your current on page optimizations look like.

You will provide the keywords you want to target or they will suggest which keywords to target if you're unsure.

  • Competitive Analysis should be done to see what your competitors are doing to rank their sites at the top.

They will check their backlinks and on page seo to learn why Google likes them so much so they can apply these things to your site.

  • Backlinks are a big part of ranking your site. The key is to have good sites linking in to your site from relevant content.

Having other sites linking to you shows your authority in you particular market.

  • Social Media marketing will boost your authority in Googles eyes and help to keep your site ranking in the top 3.

This should include Twitter and Facebook posts on a regular basis, but can also include some other social media sites.

  • Ranking Report Finally you should receive a ranking report each month to show where you are ranking for the targeted keywords that you chose during the competitive analysis.

Ranking your site will take some time in the beginning and then your site will settle in to one the top spots.

That's when the free traffic from google starts coming to your site.

The goal is to get your site in the top 3 search results for your keyword.

  • Click Here to get a 30 day free trial of a done for you SEO Service

Even if you just try it for the 30 days your site should get a nice boost.

Then you can decide if you want to continue.

Depending on your potential ROI it could be a sweet deal.

How To Get More Traffic To My Website

Using Heavily Trafficked Websites To Drive Traffic To Your Website

Depending on your webites purpose, one of the best ways to get traffic to your website is to post classified ads on websites like Backpage Classifieds or on

Choose the city you are targetting and post an ad in the appropriate category. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just an ad explaining what your website is offering and make sure to post a link at the bottom of the ad. If you know how to use html you can make your ad look like a website, adding links and making bold text to make your message stand out.

Never post the same ad twice on the same day in the same city. This is considered spam and will get your ad deleted. Even if others are doing it, don't try it. There days are numbered on as they have strict posting guidelines and sooner or later will go after the spammers.

So post your ad once in the cities where you want traffic from. Do not post to more than 3 cities per day and change the titles of your ads to see which one works best. This is called split testing.

Get Even More Free Traffic To Your Website

Using Video To Drive Website Traffic

If your website can be complimented by the use of video, then is the best way to get this kind of traffic. Try making a candid video of you or someone else talking about your website or product. Make sure to use a call to action in the video either in your own voice or as a caption or text frame at the end of your video.

Tell them to click on the link in your description below the video. Always make sure to put a live link in your video.

Use the format in your description:

' Click here to find out more.'

Then put in a long description. The more info you can write will add to the videos authority.

Make sure to add tags to your video separated by a comma.

And lastly share your video with your friends, post it on twitter, share on facebook, you might even post it on your website. The more people that see your video, the better the chance of it going viral and lots of people will come to your site. If your first video is a flop, don't despair, just try again with a new video. Try to make it funny or sexy. Sex sells and funnier has more chances to go viral as more friends share with their friends and so on.

@JimMcD: Fiverr is not a good idea for traffic but it can be good for other stuff. You don't want to pay for just random traffic if its not targeted to your site is what I mean.

Will try Craigslist, think that's a great idea

Do you think using Fiverr would be a good idea or would it get you G slapped?

@mskaarnes: You can post referral links there. Although some links that had been previously spammed will not be allowed. You'll know this when you get an error posting. Just change the link to a redirect and try to post again.

Great tips! Haven't checked out craigslist yet. Can you also post referral links there, or is that considered as spam?
