If, instead, you would have used information-keywords, your visitor would have ruled it out from the beginning (in case it would have appeared in SERP), which is a much better alternative as it does not increase your bounce rate.

On a borderless world like the Internet, spying on the competition is such an easy thing to do. You don't have to make fake phone calls, visit shops incognito or use your private connections to find out what your competitors are doing.

So how do you do it? Well, you have a list of words, right? By the way, have you prioritized it? If not, take the search volumes provided by Google Adwords as main criteria and arrange your keywords into the order of their priority.

Now, introduce them one by one in Google's search page and see who ranks higher and what they offer. Analyze the first 10 results, and make notes of the websites you are going to compete with. Are they real competitors? Do they offer the same products/services you are planning to sell via your website? What meta-keywords do they offer?
