Mary Kay customers are usually very loyal and once they have tried the product and enjoyed it they will continue to come back every time they need new products. On average a Mary Kay Customer will need to replenish their skin care products every 2-3 months. With that said, if you keep your customer happy you know she will be a repeat sale in 2-3 months. Add that customer to 20, 30 or 50 more and you have a continuous cycle with orders being placed constantly.
But where do you find your Mary Kay Consultant? Everywhere you go! Your business is through a catalog and catalogs travel. Make sure that all your friends and family know that you sell Mary Kay. Make sure that you give out catalogs everywhere you go and get contact information. You can also find a ton of customers through parties, skin care classes, referrals, events and your online website. Mary Kay Leadership is another great avenue of income. You earn a commission off of what your unit sells and get the chance to climb the ranks fast with leadership. Leadership is not for everyone and some have no desire to do it. If you do choose to do it, and I would suggest everyone try it at least once, then you will find it is a lot easier than you think.
One of the great thinks about Mary Kay leadership is that you don't have to have a certain amount of team members, you don't have quotas to meet on your unit and you don't ever lose them unless you quit selling.
So how do you find Mary Kay team members? By looking for them! Ask your current customers, friends, family, co-workers and all your Mary Kay contacts if they would like to get their products 50% off or earn an extra income. You will be surprised at who may be interested.
Always ask your party hosts if they would be interested. Tell them they seen what you did and how easy it was and they can do it to. They already have customers since those from the party would most likely by from them if they signed up and if they can host their own party they can help other people host them.
Hold drawings. Drawing are a great way to get customers, contacts and team members. We will go over that in a few minutes though!
Also, make sure that when you are working your business you are professional. If you having a bad day, not getting the sales you wanted to get or just not feeling Mary Kay for the day don't let others know. You don't want to discourage people about the business. Every business has it's ups and downs... but the owners don't go out ranting and raving about it and you shouldn't either.

Mary Kay has a variety of products including skin care, fragrance, make up, gift sets and more. Each one of these are their own idea for a new party. When you hold a party your host who you already know brings several of her friends...usually 3 to 15 to her party. Those friends then get to see all your wonderful products and purchase as they wish.
Now that you have made contact with those new ladies you have not contacts. You should get their information at the party and now you have a way to follow up with them even if they didn't place an order right there at the show. But say they do order, you have the sales from the party, plus those new customers, plus new potential customers for those who didn't order right then.
But wait there's more...that's right. You continue to earn off that same party for months or years to come! Those new customers who bought your Mary Kay products and loved them, well they will eventually run out and need more which will mean more sales. Another reason to get contact information and always follow up with in 2 to 3 months. PLUS, you can usually book 2 or 3 parties at the original party which will start the whole process over with a whole new group of women you have never got to make contact with. After a few parties you now have 50+ contacts, several customers, new parties booked to continue to build and by now maybe even a few team members which is another avenue for earning...keep going, I will discuss this as well.

Skin care customers are the base of your Mary Kay customers. Seasons change, colors and trends change but a good skin care regimen will always stay the same as long as the customer is happy. With that being said you want to find as many skin care customers as you can. Remember the part where skin care customers need to replenish their products every 2 to 3 months? Well, that's where the big money comes in. When you have several customers buying a new Time Wise Set every 2 to 3 months then your sales are going to rocket. Since they won't all be buying at the same time your sales will be consistently spaced out and a continuous rise.
So what is a Skin Care Class. It's the mix between a party and a facial. Using the same concept as a party, you can have a host or be your own host and invite all your current customers and contacts. You will then show them as a 'class' proper skin care techniques, how to use the products and recommend products for them individually. This can be a killer sales tool!
So you have a customer who is broke and can't afford to buy the products but really likes them. Tell her she can hold a Skin Care Class with all her friends and earn her products for free! Ta-da...you now have a new class booked, a new customer who will be telling all her friends how much she loved your product and work hard to have as many friends there as possible meaning more sales, more contacts and more unit members for your.

Increase Your Sales With Samples
Samples are a great way to increase your Mary Kay Sales. Every time your place a new order pick a new product to sample. Since they can be costly if bought in large amounts, buy only as many as you need for your current customers and maybe an extra pack just to have on hand. Put a sample in each bag before you deliver the order. When you deliver, let the customer know you left a goodie in the bag and would like her input on it.
In a few days call her back to make sure she was happy with ALL of her products and also asked how she like the sample. Offer an incentive such as 20% off that product if she orders it today. While you will only earn 30% instead of 50% you will still have have a new product out there that will need to be replenished regularly.

How will you get sales if no one knows you exist as a Mary Kay Consultant? It's important to get your name out there by telling those you come in contact with that you sell Mary Kay. But what about those you don't make contact with? Let everyone know you sell Mary Kay by putting up signs. You can have yard signs made from your local printing company or from online sites. The cheapest place I have seen is on eBay. You can usually get them for about $10-15 a piece including shipping. There are several companies on eBay that will offer them cheaper if you buy 10 or more.
Put the sign in your yard and anywhere else you are allowed to. Check with your local City Hall and see what their requirements are for putting them on local street corners, busy intersections. And don't forget about those who support you most- your friends and family. If you have friends and family that lives at a busy intersection, a subdivision or owns a business, these are all great places to put your signs. Customers will see your sign, know you sell Mary Kay and be able to get a phone number from the signs. You can find many new customers this way with very little work.

As said before your Mary Kay Catalog is your store! Every catalog you give out is like opening another store. The one downfall is that catalogs can be quite pricey if you are buying hundreds of them at the time. There are two keys to success in using the catalog alone; #1 Get contact information and #2- Follow up.
While you don't necessarily need to give a catalog to every single person you talk to, you should give catalogs to those who seem genuinely interested in Mary Kay products. Start a conversation in the grocery store line and as you get to the part where you sell Mary Kay, if the person sounds interested offer her a catalog. If she says yes, ask for her name and phone number or email. I have found that some people aren't interested giving out the phone number these days but are willing and more comfortable giving out there email. Let her know you will give her a call before you put in your next order to see if there is anything you would like..... AN DO IT! Make sure you call her back....follow up is the key to this business!

Another valuable tip for selling Mary Kay that I learned quickly was to get myself some business cards and get them out there! I don't mean by them and put them in the closet....I mean get them out there. Leave business cards everywhere you go. Give business cards to your cashiers, bank tellers, leave it on the table with a tip, leave them on counters at public places where you see others leaving cards and ask businesses if you may leave some there. Salons are a great place to leave them since the majority of customers are those concerned with keeping a great appearance.
You can order Mary Kay business cards through through Mary Kay's affiliates, local printing shows, online or once again, the trusty eBay. I have also use Vista Print.

Follow up is the key to this business. Since you don't have an actual store customers can walk in and walk out of it is crucial to follow up. Your catalog is your store so follow up on those catalogs...To follow up you need to get contact information for each person you give a brochure. You can get their phone number or their email.
Follow Up On Contacts
Call each new contact with in a few days and ask if there were any products in the catalog they were interested in that they would like to get. If they say yes then there is your order. If they say yes but they can't afford it right now then there is the perfect opportunity to book a party of find a new team member who would like to get their products at a discount or earn an extra income!
Follow Up On Orders
After you deliver your orders contact each customer with in a few days to make sure they are happy with their products. Ask if there was anything else they saw in the catalog they would like to order.
Follow Up On Team Members
When you add new team members to your unit always follow up with them in a few days. Find out how they are doing, if they have any sales, booked any parties, have any questions or need any help. Offer them incentives for meeting a certain goal with in a specified time. Make sure they have your contact information in case they have questions. Remember: If they succeed you will succeed. When they make money of sales you make money off their sales. If they are doing good you will do good! They are your TEAM members work with them as a team!

Drawings and raffles are a great way to find more Mary Kay customers, contacts and team members. Ask businesses, especially salons, if you can set up a small table with a raffle for their customers. It will be a very small display. If they say yes than be sure to get it set up immediately so that no one else gets there foot in before you. Tell them you will be back in a week or two weeks, which ever you and the owner decide and will take it down and let them draw for the prize.
Entry Form Questionnaire:
Name, Address, Phone Number & Email

Would you be interested in getting your Mary Kay products at a discount?
Would you be interested in hosting a Mary Kay Party to receive free products?

What you will need for the set up:
Small Table - unless they are gonna let you use the counter or another space they already have.
The Basket or Products to Be Raffled - or a Nice picture of them
Fish Bowl- or other nice container to put the entry forms in. Fishbowls work great with a nice pink bow around them!
Sign that Says Drawing/Raffle for ____ Item(s)
Set up a nice display with these items and leave them be. A week to two weeks is usually a good time. Sometimes longer up to a month if you would like. Just make sure the owner knows exactly when you will be back.
On the day you are supposed to come back have the owner, manager or other associate draw and name. Give that person a call and tell them what they have one.
NOW....here comes the good part. You now have all these other entry forms that are potential new customers, hostesses or team members.
Call each one over the next few days. Let them know that they did not win the item but you would like to offer them a $10 gift certificate, a free facial, 25% off their order or any other great incentives or specials you may be running. You will find yourself with some new sales pretty quick. Also, discuss their entry form with them. If they were interested in hosting a party book it right away. If they were interested in getting their products at a discount ask them if they would like to join your team. If they say no, then offer them a party or to be a help to get their products at a discount. Continue through the entry form until you have met all their needs and ask if there was anything they seen in your catalog they would like to purchase. Also asked them if they would like to join your mailing list for your email newsletters.
