Practice Creativity Based Leadership Skills For Healthier Living Every Day

Updated on October 2, 2012

Classic Golds on Creativity and Leadership

There are many books written already if one visits the local public library for example as an easy step or search the internet.

There are classic "golds" that after many years still valuable, whether one's own interest in leadership skills and knowledge at work such as for example for a business, non-profits, education or community.

This year, especially in an election year such as 2012, there are many discussions in media about importance of leadership (who is best among candidates?) .

More so than other topics relating to every day living and for most difficult challenges faced by America and the world beyond just "policy talk".

In my experience, learning about creativity and leadership skills to actually put in practice requires a discipline of a star athlete or a musician or a scholar with motivation marshaled from within anchored with the rock of one's own inspirations in life.

Self Knowledge as Anchor for Creativity Based Leadership Practices

Self knowledge, the starting point is not easy.

But self knowledge often comes often from practice of knowing what is enjoyable and easy and what is not. knowledge of human psychology. Such experience by practice often for example is a key to on going self discovery. Experience of "practice" is a key.

However it helps to climb on the shoulders of great minds and experts who have earned to respect and confidence through practice and scholarship.

A great basketball coach like John Wooten at UCLA for many years in the past, for example, became "admireed" as a coach by creating and coaching winning team through practice.

Same creating and practice often is true in music and in science.

Relating to this topic, I just discovered a valuable new book in my public library at Fairfax County, Virginia, "Appreciative Intelligence: Seeing The Mighty Oak in the Acorn" by Tojo Thatchenkery and Carol Metzker (BK Books, 2006)).

I have discussed elsewhere the classic, ""Defying The Crowd: Cultivating Creativity In A Culture of Conformity" by Robert J. Sternberg and Todd I. Lubart (The Free Press, 1995).
