Documenting the Marketing Revolution in 29 Quotes

Updated on December 1, 2015

Hi I'm @JephMaystruck

Yeah there's a revolution going on but it's not all about Twitter and Facebook. People always thinks it's the technology but it's not. It's much bigger than that. The technology will always change but the fundamentals of business and marketing never will.

Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People is the best book you can read on the social generation. It was published in 1936. The golden rule is more apparent today than ever before. Word travels too fast to have a bad customer experiences, we love to tell our friends about those.

No advertising isn't dead, you just better be causing a ruckus with your advertising if you think your message is going to get through. Everyone can create a Facebook Page, everyone can Tweet, but it's those who do it in a memorable way that will be the influencer of tomorrow. Learning how to use the tools properly at a young age is important to ensure maximum potential of the future of your career. Read early and often. I hope this lens helps out. It's a little bit all over the may but I wanted a place where I could share thing that may help you one day. Here's to hopping they will.

I share video, quotes, pictures, books, pretty much all the best stuff from the blog.

I think the marketing industry is going through a major evolution right now and the only way you or your company will be relevant in the next 10 years is if you begin educating yourself. Self-directed learning can now be accomplish from almost anywhere in the world, all that is required is a laptop and an internet connection. Information is now free so the challenge isn't finding information, it's filtering through the noise to find the right information.

I hope I can inspire you to do more in business and in life.

Personally, it's reputation management. If you always over deliver, no matter what the cost, you will create a name for yourself. And your reputation is the one part of your business that transfers to your online presence in a major way. You brand isn't what you say it is, it's what Google tells me it is.

    What is "Permission Marketing"?

The Philosophy: Permission Marketing (definition) is the privilege (not the right) of delivering anticipated, personal and relevant messages to people who actually want to receive them.

Love your customers and they'll love you back.

The Strategy: Developing Social Objects (definition) is something worth talking about, it’s the reason you tell somebody about something, it’s the topics and stories we talk about. If it’s interesting enough that you want to share it with someone then it’s a Social Object.

Find your purple cow, blue ocean, competitive advantage (whatever the hell you want to call it), just don't be normal.

The Tactics: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Blogging, E-mail, Video blog, Podcasts, Picture blog, Google Adwords, etc.

We work with companies in Regina and Saskatchewan to develop a permission marketing strategy. We do that by working together to create Social Objects for your target audience to share. Essentially, your word-of-mouth marketing strategy. Social media is the vehicle we use to spread the word-of-mouth.

    Quotes on the future

Some of the best quotes on the technology and how civilization has advanced. I like to remind people when they are presented with a new idea or a futuristic opinion, it wasn't too long ago that we didn't have airplanes, we didn't travel to the moon and we couldn't communicate across continents in a matter of seconds. Don't stop progress, don't stop technology, embrace it, push the status quo, make things better, invent the future.
