So You Want To Scrap Metal

A Scrap Metal Business is an easy business to start, it doesn't take much start up money and almost anyone can do it. The main thing you need to scrap is a reliable vehicle. I have been recycling metal for a while now and in that time I have gone from recycling part time, to running a full time recycling company. If you want to earn some extra cash or if you are looking to get out of your current job and start a full time recycling business read this lens and if you do as I did you will find success.

My first trip to the scrap yard

My first trip to the scrap yard was back in 2006. I was doing handyman work and picking up trash with my pickup truck and I was removing sticks and brush for a contractor who was repairing an old house. He gave me some Metal lockers and some copper pipes. I ended up dropping the lockers off at the scrap yard for a few extra dollars and I loaded the copper into my truck and brought it home. I broke them down and put them in a trash barrel and they sat there for about 6 months. Then one day I was talking to a friend who had scrapped before and mentioned how well copper was doing I decided to bring my barrel of copper in. I loaded the barrel into my truck and drove it 10 miles to the yard, Put it on the scale, and they paid me around 350.00 (EASY MONEY). Since then I have been building my full time recycling company.
