Starting your own business for the first time (has not been easy0
Starting my own business
After 21 years of being employed not by the same employer i might add i have taken the decision to start my own business. Now this has not been been an easy decision either believe me and could well of happened any time during the last ten years i guess but now it feels right.
Am i insane i've thought to myself and even had the same words uttered to me when i have told people that i have started my own business a great confidence booster i know but nevertheless i have taken the plunge and done it.
20 plus years of knowing that i am guaranteed that pay cheque regardless of whether there is work or not 20 plus years of knowing i have 5 weeks paid holiday and in the last ten years knowing i have a good salary to look forward too and some great holidays that those hard earned wages have given me so why oh why have i given this all up to start my own business.
The answer is very simple. Ive made all my employers 6 overall during the last 20 years an awful lot of money and listen to the times when they have told me that a big bonus or profit share is on the cards as long as i reach this target and more holiday if i reach that target well i on earth has it taken me this long to realise that its never coming.
Oh so many times i have been offered the dangling carrot of all the riches and success i am due if only i just clinch the next job and gain the business of this new client, no no enough is enough i got sick of it and could no longer take it any more i am going to do this myself and start my own business and reap the rewards for myself.
But wait all the good times ive had all the holidays i have had for heaven sake ive raised a family on my wages from being an employee so why would i want to give this up.
Sometimes you have to ask yourself this question about do you stick with what you know this of course not only applies to your job but your relationships or your lifestyle as well.
Well the decision i have made and i did so in July this year and it was to start my own business.. I have not invented anything nor do i have any idea that will change peoples lives and make me a millionaire i have just decided to start my own business work for myself and hopefully be at peace with the fact that all the hard work im putting in is for myself and not just to make someone else rich.
Truth be known though i have not started my own business just for the money but to have that zest and passion for life back again and have a zing awake feeling in the morning like you a have a reason and a purpose feeling.
Well i started in July of this year and teamed up with a business partner. We have both invested some money into the business to get ourselves on a level platform build good business foundations and run at all times where possible in the black.
I know there is no holiday pay i know i have to pay for my own fuel etc etc but i am already so much happier.
Boy oh boy though it is very hard work more than i ever imagined even simple things like getting a company logo right have given me sleepless nights. But so it should i guess that's the passion driving me to get the decisions right and make sure that my new business is successful and makes a profit.
