Top 10 Stock Analysis Software Review

Updated on May 8, 2012

Top 10 Stock Analysis Software Review

Online investing has increased in popularity over the past couple of years due to the cost effectiveness and convenience of trading online. Because of this increase, stock analysis software has become a necessity in the online trading world.

In the past, investors had to secure a broker and contact the broker each time an order was placed. Brokers would then enter the information into their order systems. The information would then be transferred to trading floors and exchanges. Investors would pay expensive broker costs to execute a trade.

#3 Scottrade Elite

Winner of the TopTenReviews "Bronze Award"

Scottrade Elite's stock analysis tool demonstrates its superiority in many categories when compared to its competitors. One of the most difficult aspects of trading is selecting a stock that will be profitable. This analysis tool will assist investors in filtering out stocks that are not of interest and identify the winners in the market. Trade Ideas is the tool within Scottrade Elite's unique trading platform that assists with this task.

#4 Xtend2

Options Xpress offer automated trading based upon recommendations from newsletters. Expert recommendations take some of the guesswork out of selecting a stock that is expected to have growth.

#5 Street Smart Pro

The software analysis tool, Street Smart Pro, is free with a Charles Schwab brokerage account. The minimum deposit is $1000 or alternatively, a $100 direct deposit into a Charles Schwab account every month.

The investment is minimal compared to the vast array of tools offered. Charles Schwab Street Smart Pro does not seem to have a virtual account or real time simulation. This feature is preferred by both novice and seasoned investors because it takes some time to get accustomed to trading in a new trading environment. Investors would prefer not to lose money because of their lack of familiarity with a stock analysis tool.

#6 ThinkorSwim

ThinkorSwim's stock analysis tool is free when an account is opened. The software is also available for download prior to an investment.

ThinkorSwim's stock analysis tool is a phenomenal value for the features offered. Although it is brokerage dependent, the software is user friendly and easy to navigate. While the interface is customizable, the defaults are set to be pleasing to the eye.

#7 Recognia

#8 Power eTrade Pro

eTrade's stock analysis tool is offered to clients for free when opening a new account. eTrade offers a phenomenal set of tools for the investment required up front.

eTrade ensures security of the investor's online transactions through its use of online digital IDs. Of the software analysis tools recognized by TopTenREVIEWS, eTrade may be the only company that goes to such lengths to protect a client's transactions.

TopTenREVIEWS recommends Power eTrade Pro for its usability, security, and convenience.

#9 Zecco

The Zecco software platform is free with an account. The smallest investment is $250 with the mini account. With premium accounts, the customer will also receive 10 Free stock trades per month if he or she makes 25 or more trades per month or has a $25,000 minimum account balance.

The interface of Zecco's stock analysis tool is pleasing to the eye and easy to maneuver. Given the price and the features offered, this product would be a great purchase for the novice investor. Only a small investment is required to receive the software free. When compared to a $25,000 investment, a $250 investment is minuscule. Since Trade King is the only other software analysis tool that has a built in social networking community aside from Zecco, investors seeking this type of trading environment should consider Zecco's stock analysis tool.

#10 NinjaTrader

NinjaTrader is available for free until the investor decides to make the first trade. Investors are allowed to visit the NinjaTrader website, download the software analysis tool and test it for as long as desired. The online stock trading tool is also free with a TD Ameritrade account. When the user decides to make a live trade, the stock analysis tool can either be purchased or leased. The purchase price is $995 with the choice of a single broker or $1495 for use with multiple brokers. The lease price is $50 per month. This is economical when compared to other broker independent software analysis tools, such as MetaStock 11.

People lose money in stocks 95% of the time. Stock Markets are fluid, driven by fear and greed, if you learn how to correctly identify the opportunities; you will rarely lose in stock markets. Master the markets with my practical course.

Just a follow up - I'd be interested in anything you can provide on fundamental analysis specifically. This is often overlooked in favor of technicals but I'm not sure why.
