Top Article Submission Sites - An Introduction
Looking for top article submission sites that aren't just spammy yucky places with poorly spun articles? Looking to build backlinks to your websites?
Well, article marketing is definitely something you will want to investigate. First of all, please don't be scared off by article marketing if you haven't done it yet. You don't have to be Ernest Hemingway to launch a nice campaign.
Quick aside... Please scroll down to see my fun video that I made and sent in to EzineArticles.com - they enjoyed it, and I hope you do too!
All you need is a little patience, perseverance, and a chunk of time set aside for yourself to get started.
You also need a bit of a game plan and strategy. We'll talk about that here, as well as in a few other lenses.
So, in this article, I'll concentrate primarily on what I believe are some of the best places to post articles. Let's move on!
Ezine Articles - The Grandaddy of Online Article Submission Sites
Nearly everyone with any article marketing experience is familiar with EzineArticles, which is arguably one of THE top article submission sites today.
For me, it's my absolute favorite and top article submission sites - and not just because they sent me a cool mug (see video below) :)
I find that the way they run their business is really pro-active and professional. EzineArticles.com is not just some "robot" type of article directory. While, sure, not ALL the articles are of the highest quality, remember - we're not all Pulitzer Prize winning authors either.
They have some strict guidelines that authors must adhere to - but if you go on over to the site - www.EzineArticles.com, and READ the terms of service, and then FOLLOW them, you won't have any trouble!
A few KEY ideas to keep in mind about EzineArticles is that you are NOT allowed to put in an affiliate link in your author bio box (more on that later). You CAN put a link to your blog or primary website, or any "top level" domain that you own. But, you can't use a blatant URL that is obviously an affiliate link. There's nothing wrong, however, with saying something like, "To read more about XYZ, please visit my blog at www.blahblah.com."
One of the other things that I REALLY like about EzineArticles.com is that you KNOW there are "real people" behind the scenes. They have an active and robust blog with some of the best tips out there - and they're frequently really funny too! They also have a great Facebook page.
So, if I were just starting out today using article marketing, I would say, "Get thee over to EzineArticles.com and sign up for an account." And then I'd say, "And read the terms of service and study their blog."
And then I'd say, "Now WRITE something and submit it!" :)
In Fact... Here's MY Video About eZineArticles! - Some Fun... :)
Just so you know, I promised to send the guys at eZineArtlcles a photo of me and my "Official eZineArticles Expert Author Mug" and well... I guess I got a little carried away! I hope you enjoy it! I had a blast making it! :)
Article Alley - A Nice "Family Friendly" Directory
(In other words, you can't promote yucky stuff)
One of the things I like about Article Alley (other than the fact that they enjoy a great Google page rank) is their "family friendly" nature.
Although I'm sure I don't need to spell out what that really means, you can read all about their author guidelines at this link: http://www.articlealley.com/guidelines.php
Besides the more obvious stuff that they won't allow authors to write articles promoting MLM - so if you're into MLM, this is not the place to submit your writing.
Article Alley will also reject badly written, spun or downright ridiculous writing (which I'll show you an example of soon!)
As with most online article directories, it's free to sign up at ArticleAlley. Simply go to www.ArticleAlley.com and get started.
Articles Base - Ok, but...
But they're not quite as adept at catching garbage...
I admit that I do submit my articles to ArticlesBase.com - but please do not mistake me for THIS guy who somehow managed to get THIS piece of trash published: This is such a HORRIBLE piece of writing, that I cannot believe I'm actually giving it a link... But, you MUST see what to avoid - so CLICK HERE
Or, if you don't want to click on that link, I'll give you a VERY quick copy/paste from the first paragraph here:
TITLE: Slip Resistant Safety Shoes Are Used in Dry, Wet, Oily And/or Greasy Work Environments in a Variety of Work Places
EXCERPT FROM 1ST PARAGRAPH: "Slipperiness resistive shoes have turn an essential thoughtfulness in the business contrives of a firm. While this may sound ridiculous how is it accomplish able that Slip resistant shoes have cared to turn Hence main?
The grounds are quite simplified as it is connected with the cardinal scene of any business i.e. to attain money. Various studies and industrial statistics have showed that the accidents that have happened credited to the deficiency of Slipperiness resistive shoes have handled to limit a firm s profit bringing forth capablenesses."
OK, I'm not showing you that just to give you a warning that not all article directories are created equal, but to just give you a heads up - This would NOT be my first choice. But, because I also see VERY well written articles at ArticlesBase.com (ahem, like MINE!) :) it's still worth using.
They DO have author guidelines, but evidently their spam filters let a few things go.
Ok, let's move on...
Did You READ That Last Example of A Poorly Spun Article?? - Am I the only one who thinks that's just too much??
In the last module, where I shared some of the worst writing I've ever seen in my life, I was still shaking my head as I wrote it. I could NOT believe that this kind of stuff can still get by the filters or the editors of an article directory. I'm pretty serious when it comes to my own writing - so I'd like to hear your thoughts on this...
What Do You Think About Article Directories Allowing Poorly Spun Articles?
Let's Get Serious Now... How About ArticlesFactory?
Yet another article submission site
I don't want to just pick on ArticlesBase for allowing less than clear writing through the filters. ArticlesFactory has a share as well. :)
Ok, so I guess no one article directory is going to be able to claim a monopoly on poorly written or poorly spun articles. I surrender!
I do submit articles here as well. And there's no reason why you shouldn't either. Please though... If you are going to use any of these sites, and you are planning on using an article submission service, I BEG you to be very careful of how you "spin" your content.
If you haven't heard of "Google Panda" yet, be aware that duplicate content and poor content is going to be "slapped," and slapped hard. To avoid falling victim to this, submit your articles wisely.
But I digress... We'll tackle the topic of good writing practices in another lens at another time.
For now, ArticlesFactory is an easy directory to use, and they have fewer restrictions on what you can write. So, head over to ArticlesFactory at www.ArticlesFactory.com and register. It's very easy.
What about GoArticles.com?
More than 3.3 million articles live...
I also submit my articles to GoArticles.com. Actually - I use ALL the article directories I'm mentioning here in this lens. It's just that I make very sure that all the articles I submit are good. Of course, I'm not biased. LOL!
Anyway, GoArticles.com is pretty good. They have a comprehensive author and publisher area with guidelines. They claim to receive anywhere from 10,000 to 12,000 submissions PER WEEK.
That's a lot of articles! :)
One of the things that I respect about GoArticles is this: They allow readers to report "Article Spam." According to their FAQ page, there is now a link that helps readers and users help identify the type of junk referenced in my humble module and poll above. Here is what they consider to fall into the category of "Article Spam:"
"An article that has one or more of the following characteristics is more than likely article spam:
Too short. Articles under 400 words rarely provide any useful information.
Makes no sense. If an article is a jumble of words, it may have been computer generated.
Reads like a commercial or advertorial to promote a specific product or service. " (Source: http://goarticles.com/faq.html)
One thing to keep in mind if you use GoArticles, and then use an Article Submission Service to submit to GoArticles.com, the "Resource Box" (or "Author Bio Box") where you're allowed to promote your website is limited to 400 characters or less. So, play it safe and keep your self-promotion boxes under 400 characters.
Finally... Introducing SooperArticles
I just recently started using them
I logged into my article submission service recently, and noticed that they had added "SooperArticles." I went over to the site to check it out (www.sooperarticles.com).
I was pleased to see that they, too, have some extensive author guidelines.
Although I'm not certain if these pages will be ranking as highly as eZineArticles.com or GoArticles.com seem to rank in search results, I like the look of the directory thus far. They have a fairly extensive and easy to browse categories section (in the left side of the site), which I think lends to a well-organized approach.
Again, It's a little too soon for me to see where they rank, but I'm sure it must be fairly decent. The site itself has a Google Page Rank of 5/10 - and so that is VERY encouraging!
I randomly chose a few articles to read, and the ones I found appeared to be well-written. So, I say it's a good idea to add SooperArticles.com to your article marketing bandolier!
Now... Well, NOW it's time to get to work and WRITE something... Then SUBMIT it! GO FOR IT! Taking Action is the important thing!
A Final Thought...
(Ok... And Shameless Self Promotion...)
I do belong to ALL the aritcle directories I've written about above. I also belong to a top article submission service called "Submit Your Article."
I also market the service. Why? (And don't say, "Well... Duh, because you get paid!" Of course I get paid when someone joins through my link.
But, I've been a paying member myself for 3 years, and found that Steve Shaw (the lovely gentleman over in the UK who runs the service) has a number of things going for him that others do not. Here are just a few - in no particular order:
1) He's EXTREMELY helpful - constantly offering advice for writers (new and seasoned alike) with an excellent and educational blog...
2) His service does NOT "spin" articles. He offers something called "Article Leverage" - which is an exceptional tool to help YOU create HIGH QUALITY variations of your articles. (In other words... YOU have to write variations - and they have to make sense!)
3) He has an option where you can find other writer's articles and add them to your own site to increase and improve your content - you must leave the author's resource box intact - which is only ethical and fair - but it's a great way to get "guest" writers to your site!
4) His service is high quality, he is honest, and ... well... I just like the guy.
Now, if you are just beginning with article marketing, I would advise you first to submit some articles on your own. Get the feel for the work involved before you commit to a paid article distribution service. Be sure you will USE it, in other words! I, personally, do NOT want to see budding internet entrepreneurs buy a gajillion tools only to have them sit on a virtual shelf.
But, by all means, head over to the site and check it out. If you are ready to incorporate article marketing into your strategic plan, then I hope you will consider this service. You can take a look here => CLICK HERE To Check Out Steve Shaw's Top Article Submission Distribution Service - "Submit Your Article."
And if you are NOT yet ready for such a service, that's fine. The important thing is that you take ACTION - whatever your plan is!
Thank you for reading! Now... get to work! :)
Some Writing and Marketing Stuff to Help You Along
I think that sometimes we buy stuff to make it look like we're taking action. But the truth is, no tool is going to help you unless you USE it. That is especially true with writing to promote your websites or even your Squidoo pages! So, here are a couple of things that I thought might be EASY to use that can help someone stay motivated and PRODUCTIVE. :)
