Treasures By Brenda, A Top-Rated Canadian eBay Seller

Treasures By Brenda, A Top-Rated Canadian eBay Seller

Meet A Canadian eBay Seller...

Treasures By Brenda is the name of my home-based eBay store, which is located in central Canada in the nation's capital of Ottawa. I assume it is because you have an interest in eBay either as a buyer or as a seller that you are reading this page. My purpose is to let you know a little bit about myself, how I run my eBay store and my eBay store policies.

I am an avid shopper and work hard to find new, used and vintage pieces for my eBay store. Wherever I go, I am looking for new treasures. When I started selling on eBay, my boys were getting older and busy with their own lives in high school so I turned my attention to finding interesting items for people who are shopping on eBay. Now that my guys are grown and gone, selling on eBay has become a full-time endeavour.

Whether you are or want to be an eBay buyer or a seller, I hope you will find something to take away from the information in this page. I work hard to make every eBay transaction a good experience and understanding some of these practices will help with your eBay experiences.

How did I start selling on eBay?

before you start selling on eBay, I RECOMMEND that you learn everything you can by reading and by buying on eBay.

It is an all-too-familiar story. A person finds themselves with a few things to sell, lists them and gets hooked on selling on eBay. In my case, I started selling on eBay when my mother-in-law passed away and we had an excess of lovely things that we just weren't going to be using. They were not too hard to part with since we kept the things that we love though some of them were difficult things to sell. I learned quickly that few people are collecting teacups but that lots of people are collecting coffee mugs. The process of selling these few things was the beginning of a long steep learning curve. It was natural, after I had figured out how eBay worked by selling those items, to go looking for items to sell and Treasures By Brenda was born.

What Do I Sell?

A frequently asked question is, "What sells the best on eBay?"

The answer to this question for me is constantly evolving. In April of 2011, my five best selling categories were children's books, men's clothing, cookbooks, women's clothing and movies. Fast forward to March, 2015 and that list includes dishes, toys, women's clothing and collectibles. These categories do represent, of course, items that I am currently focused on rather than trends across the whole site.

Who Do I Do Business With?

I SELL TO Canadian, American and International BUYERS.

I am thrilled to sell to people around the world and I have 'met' many nice people through eBay. Most of my items travel from my home in Canada to the United States while some stay in Canada and others travel to international destinations. The percentage of items leaving Canada for the United States is definitely directly related to the value of the Canadian dollar.

I also sell internationally. Choosing not to do so would eliminate one segment of the market totally and in an increasingly competitive market, I cannot afford to close the door to any potential buyers. There is no extra work or cost to sell internationally and there are some very grateful shoppers.

eBay Store Policies

My eBay policies in short - Well it is a bit long but I believe that telling your customers up front what your policies are is the only way to do business.

When you shop with me through eBay, I am just an e-mail away, ready and willing to answer your questions. I try to answer questions quickly.

My customers are my number one priority and I think my Feedback Rating and my Detailed Seller Ratings on eBay reflect that fact.

Shipping is free for Canadian and American shoppers and I pay the taxes for my Canadian customers.

I am willing to combine items for International customers to try to help them save money but they should be aware that rates can jump quickly for international shipments.

I have a 100 percent money-back guarantee. I offer a full refund, including shipping, if the item is not as described. If you purchase something that does not fit, I am willing to buy it back from you. However, in this case you will be responsible for the return shipping charges and a 20 percent restocking fee, which is meant to defray the cost of the initial free shipping.

You can pay me with Paypal.

Finally, every item that I ship is insured. Very few parcels ever go missing but those that do receive a full refund from me and I file the claim with the post office to get the money back. I believe it is the seller's responsibility to deliver an item safely into the buyer's hands.

Weird Al Yankovic's eBay Song What I Bought on eBay'

Has this happened to you? Does your family cringe when the mailman comes to the door?

Weird Al Yankovic is a comedian who has had an amazing music career which to date includes twelve humorous albums. On Poodle Hat, he recorded the song 'eBay' which parodies 'I Want It That Way' by The Backstreet Boys. The song is a cute discussion of the narrator's somewhat out-of-the-ordinary purchases on eBay. No video has ever been officially produced, but the song has caused the creation of many videos including this one. Some of the fun things purchased in this song include a used pink bathrobe, a Smurf TV tray, a pet rock, William Shatner's toupee, Beanie Babies and a Farrah Fawcett poster -- all stuff that we definitely need! Enjoy!

If you haven't heard it, you are in for a treat, especially if you enjoy buying on eBay!

I used to be a big powerseller in a narrow niche on eBay. I had actually considered going full time with it. Then many others jumped into my market and started competing on price with inferior products. It was a disappointment, but forced my exit. I'd love to get back into it again if the opportunity presented itself (or that is if I could create the opportunity)!

Congratulations on your successes selling on eBay and thank you for your advice on selling on your eBay series of lenses. I'm a fairly new seller, still in the 50 free/month stage, but enjoying myself immensely! My brother's girlfriend got me started as she has been selling for several years and now plans to quit the auction format and open an eBay Store this Fall. I recently moved near my brother and we now plan to begin a regular yard sale/thrift store routine for selling on eBay -- we have different interests and specialties, so we won't be 'competing' with each other. :)

I've given e-bay a lot of thought but that's about it. I don't want to be a seller. I don't have the room for inventory or the time to deal with it. It may become an option once I retire.Your store looks like a great place to shop. Thanks for sharing.Lizzy

I love eBay and both buy and sell. My best sale was a couple of old (over 100 years) canceled checks my dad gave me that had a signature from a state senator on them. That was exciting. Thanks - great lens. Five stars.

I was looking for Ebay help and I think you are the remedy. My wife makes beaded jewelry and the neighbor has diamond rings and other items from a relative he wants to sell. I will follow for a while and get familiar with the terms. Although I have no clue where the best place to start would be. Do you get credit for referral? Thanks for the weird Al piece, it could become the soundtrack for my life!CHARLIE(retired)

I've always been interested in selling items on eBay, but just don't really understand the ways and means of it all. Oh, I can post an item or two, but they never sell. I know that people make lots of money on eBay and I would love to learn more about how-to, without having to buy something. It looks like you are one lady that has learned how-to and I am happy for your success! This is a very nice lens and I hope it does well for you!

Fascinating... I've always wondered what it would be like to be an eBay seller. You look like a real professional. I tried to sell a few things but after paying to have things listed, nothing sold, so I gave it up. I do like buying on eBay - I've never had a bad experience buying there.
