Whatcha Gonna Do With That Duck?

Updated on November 23, 2013

The most popular posts of 2012

It's not clear that the most trafficked posts are my best posts, but it's a fine place to start.

I love my blog, and the immediacy of it, but it's also important to me that we have some permanence, and books are magical at providing that.

Last year, when we compiled the new collection of seven year's worth of posts and ebooks, we didn't use traffic data, aiming instead for the posts that will hold up over time and are worth re-reading.

On this page are links to 29 of the most popular posts of 2012.

The book is thick and rich and loaded with stuff from the last seven years. I hope you enjoy it. The top posts are below, as is a link to get your copy of the book.

You can't buy the behemoth...

Whatcha Gonna Do with That Duck?: And Other Provocations, 2006-2012
Whatcha Gonna Do with That Duck?: And Other Provocations, 2006-2012

But you can get the smaller, lighter, less painful 2 pound version. More than 600 pages long, without the fancy typography, the best posts chosen from my blog... about a quarter of a million words.

Whatcha Gonna Do?

"You're not putting that on our coffee table" - Whatcha Gonna Do is an abridged edition of this big one...

Seth - I work with college students in a business school and use your blog as one of my required readings for an internship related reflection assignment. There is NOTHING more exciting than to see the surprise and delight of students upon discovering your insights. "Meaningful, provocative and applicable" is a current comment! I love my daily HIT!

Seth Godin, I love you. I honestly do. It's because of you that I blog (every week since 2009). It's because of you that I now write what I call, "Party Mad Monday's" (on my blog, Cater-Hater) where I expose what's REALLY going on for consumers to think about the truth that they're often being fed, about the fact that they're often being lied to by party business owners, just for the sake of a dollar. I'm as uncomfortable as hell doing it, writing it... but feel the passionate need to say something REAL in an industry built on pretty looking little lies about how great everything can/will be when you decide to have a part. I mean, c'mon... you can't really have a blog called Cater-Hater and not be somewhat controversial anyway, can you? Thanks Seth! I love you because you've given me pause and a reason to think about challenging the status quo instead of being one of the status quo. And from this perspective, things look and feel better... more authentic. I get to be me, sharing how I REALLY feel - instead of posting something contrived. Bless your heart... now I want your Behemoth book and can't get one. Drat! You a prophetic marketing genius that I talk about as if I really know you. Thank you for what you go... you are truly a gift.

Thanks a lot for sharing this list Seth. Just a heads up, a few of your posts are featured in this list twice ("Most People", "No one ever bought anything on an elevator" and "Corporations are not people")
