Work from home for pensioners - South Africa

Updated on March 2, 2013

Work at home for pensioners

For the bulk of pensioners in our country, finding simple work from home opportunities on their computers seems to be the norm in South Africa now. This has been brought about by our really low interest rates at present, meaning that the accrued interest generated by a pensioners savings account whereby it was sufficient to live on at the higher returns on funds invested, is now a thing of the past. The fact that interest rates are being reduced and have recently been brought down to a more manageable value of prime at 9% is helpful if you are looking to take a loan from the bank.

However for a pensioner who is relying on the good returns they where happy earning in 2008, it has been reduced in the last 6 basis points reductions to almost half of what it used to be. Surviving on interest payments has become difficult for pensioners.

Some pensioners are now forced to work from home as it becomes more and more difficult to maintain a cost of living and lifestyle that a pensioner relies upon to sustain themselves.

So what would a pensioner be able to do to work from home.Unfortunately the options are limited for pensioners as it is often thought that those folks on pension can no longer handle labour intensive activities or any physical activity at that. This is terrible as a pensioner can be of any age and will be frowned upon for trying to re-enter the job market.

Fortunately like some of my fellow writers here, writing online for a living, no matter how meager it may start out as, is in fact a joyous enterprise for those restricted from the job market due to age.

Being able to generate an income from home is by far a most preferred method for pensioners. The ability to type and write from all of life's experiences is clearly a mountain of expertise waiting to be tapped into.

Writing for a hobby will surely keep their wits about them and prevent boredom, however most professionals in postiions of esteem power in corporations are in fact the same age as many pensioners, so what makes them any different from their entitlement to a living.

With the forward going momentum of the internet and Information Technology boom ,currently being experienced in South Africa, Seacom has geared up the rollout of even better data transfer via their new undersea cable platforms. The average South African is now able to tap into a newly created work from home environment that has been preceeded throughout the world by almost 8 years. Wow are we behind in cheap internet data bundles.

The work from home trend is fast catching on in South Africa as there are more and more internet marketers calling themselves self employed individuals.

It is yet to be a recognised profession in South Africa, but with more pensioners taking to the internet to try and fill the gap in their income as interest rates drop, we are sure to see a surge in the work from home pensioner trend.

For those pensioners who find this an avenue that may be of interest, we would suggest to signup here at hubpages and learn all the jargon involved with online writing, learn the hubpages platform and take part in the forums too.

There is loads of help here form fellow writers to help you get started.

Search for hubs on hubpages to read and look into the advertiser programs which could start to generate a healthy monthly income in no time at all.

Remember that online writers all started somewhere and from that first cent that shows in your balance, you're hooked.

However, writing should be fun at the same time, so go ahead and learn to write a hub.
