A Hubbers Guide to writing your First HUB: How to make A GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION!

Updated on December 28, 2011

If you are writing on Hubpages, that means that you are interesting in making money as a writer. Don't worry, You aren't the only one, and you are definitely not the last one. If you are reading this, that means that you are either getting ready to write your first Hub, OR the title just jumped out at you, and you are interested in this article. Either way: Keep On Reading!

When writing your first Hub on Hubpages there are a few things that you HAVE To keep in mind, and there are a few things that you have to do. Many writers choose to write for Hubpages because this is a place where they can publish almost anything, and they get paid for their hard work!

Many writers choose to write for Hubpages part-time, or for fun. While others choose to write for Hubpages as a full time job. I alternate, I do both! So, If you are looking to write your first HUB, just remember, like any job, like any first time working in any place: ITS ALL ABOUT FIRST IMPRESSIONS!

Yes, you heard correctly! Writing your first Hub is like making a first impression in this site, readers will take a look at your work, and choose to add you, or not. Or they can choose to share your work with others and so on..

When writing your First HUB, there are three things that I've learned you have to do. These are:

  1. Create a KICK ASS profile, and putting as much info about YOU As a writer on it.
  2. Make sure You are DETAILED in your Hubs. And I do mean DETAILED (I'll explain in a bit).
  3. And Finally, make sure you befriend your readers BEFORE you publish your second Hub.

Writing on Hubpages can most definitely bring you the income that you want/ need. There is a reason why so many writers choose to write, and publish their work here on a daily basis. If you are looking to write your very first Hub on Hubpages, then keep reading! I'll teach you how to make a great first impression so that you can start making money immediately!

If you have been writing on Hubpages for a while, WAIT! There is information for everyone here.

Hubpages is a source of Information. Writers here write about things that they know personally, and give them as much information as they can. So, if you want your first Hub, or if you want to attract traffic like crazy, then be DETAILED.

In your Hub you should basically answer the questions that readers may have about the subject that you are writing. If you can, post pictures, or step by step tutorials on the subject that you are writing about. These are not only helpful but they are popular among readers.

One of my favorite things to do in Hubpages besides write, is I like to head over to the the "Help" section of the website and see what subjects Hubbers are interested in reading about. This saves me time when I research for Possible Hub titles, AND I get Ideas for FUTURE Hubs.

The Fun Side of writing for Hubpages.

I love writing for Hubpages because it gives me the outlet to write about any topic that I want. Writing for Hubpages can also be fun, because you can share your Hubs in high traffic social networking sites such as: facebook, Facebook Hubpages and even blogs.

You can create high amounts of traffic to your Hubs when you are creative, and when you show people just how much knowledge you have about your favorite topics.

The best way to write your first Hub is to write an informative article. Remember to be specific, detailed and most importantly friendly. You want to be able to connect with you audience, and let them know that you really do know what you are talking about. This way, they'll come back to read more of you Hubs as you publish them!

Get to Know Hubpages closely.

Before you publish your First hub, get to know how everything about Hubpages works. Learn, and understand the rules, Create a friendly profile, and make sure that you are creative with your FIRST Hub. If you have already published several Hubs, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT! You can follow all of these steps, go back to your older Hubs, spice them up a bit, and continue to earn money from them.

Make sure you know how everything works. How you can link your Hubs to other Hubs, How you can Share your Hubs all over popular social networking sites, and how you can inform other Hubbers about your newest Hubs. Brag a little! If you know your work is good, tell others!

If you want to make money from Hubpages, you can use Adsense, sign up for Hubpages Ad program, Amazon and so on.. You can also link you page to your blog, and keep making money from outside of Hubpages.

Befriend your fellow Hubbers.

Don't have any Hubs yet? No Problem! You can still say Hi! to other Hubbers, and take a sneak peak at what they write about, maybe even add them as friends, and then Publish your first Hub! What does this do? Well, once you have friends, it is more likely that you will be able to get massive amounts of traffic to your articles.

Do your research before you publish anything.

If you want to make a great first impression on Hubpages, write about what you know, and make sure you give as much detail about the topic you are writing about. Its all about Quality! Make sure you write well informed articles. Answer any questions that you had about the subject, and think about any doubts or questions that other readers may have, and answer them in your Hub! This way, readers will be attracted to your Hubs because they will see that you have the information that they want!

Don't be afraid to go all out when you write for Hubpages. There are many writers that go out of their way to entertain their readers in their Hubs!

Its up to you!

Hey Jessica, a couple of my most recently published hubs, in a way you are now competing against. I guess I'm glad I did what I did with those hubs. I don't have anything against your advice here. With that said, earning on HubPages is a lot of work and has many different aspects to learn about. I'll agree with you when you mentioned the "help" section, which is exactly where my two hubs are.

You, yourself might want to check them out. You'll see what I am talking about with regards to the manner in which they are written. The names of the hubs (a) New Members Tutorial Guide To HubPages and (b) How To Create a Hub : Hub Creation. Good hub! :)
