A Note About Getting Things Done

Updated on May 9, 2013

Are You Able To Get Things Done?

Getting things done is more about just making decisions to do things. If you can make the decision to do it, you will follow through and complete the project.

Many people struggle to complete their projects, in fact they struggle just to get anything done. Are you one of those people? I know I am.... haha.

I am always saying to myself, "I'll do it later!" or "Yeah, i know what I should be doing, but I just can't be effed!"

I know that you know what I am talking about.

So, what are you going to do about it?

My Strategy For Getting Things Done

My strategy for getting things done is to just tell people what I am planning to do. Not just my wife and kids, but my neighbors, friends, and work colleagues, too. Everyone!!

What does this achieve? You might be wondering!!

Well, it does this.... Because of the fact that I have told every man and his dog about my plans, everyone is watching me. They are watching and wondering, maybe even rooting for me, I don't know exactly. But anyways, IF I fail to do whatever it is that I have told everyone I would do, then they are all going to be talking about it and ultimately I am going to feel embarrassed that I failed.

Unfortunately, failure is the only option in some cases, and in such cases I simply just have to grin and bear it, but if I fail to do something out of laziness, then I have no one to blame but myself.

That is my simple strategy for getting things done in my life.

Another Way To Remain Focussed

There are many ways to remain focused, but one of the most effective ways I have found to keep myself focused is to write little notes and stick them all around the place. For example, I am going to log in to my computer every day to check mail and stuff, so I have a sticky note on my computer that says, 'Write a quick hub! - It will only take 20 minutes.'

And you know what, it does only take 20 minutes to write a 300 word or a four hundred word hub.

You wanna know what else I learned?

Sometimes you will surprise yourself and write a really great hub or a seed hub. A seed hub is a short 300 or 400 word hub that you can expand on at a later date. It is good enough to attract visitors, but may not have enough content to make any real money. That is why it is a seed. It has the potential to grow.

Sticky notes really do work!!
