And There are Many

What a lovely delight to find out just how many lovely grandmothers there are here on HubPages.

I found this out, only after having written a hub in anticipation of my first grandson to be arriving October 10, 2012. I already have two beautiful granddaughters, who are 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 years old. As far as the grandmothers on HubPages, I just placed their profile pictures in the order of their comments they had shared with me in celebration of my grandson to be arriving into the world.

I only put the information as far as how many grands they had from the comments they left.

Much to my surprise, I was so blessed to know, through comments left by many, that there are many lovely grandmothers here on HubPages. Some of the lovely grandmothers told me what their grandchildren call them and the number of grandchildren they have, or have on the way!

Some of those who had commented may very well be grandmothers, but did not indicate such when they had commented.

That being said, if you choose to comment on this hub, and I have left out something that I failed to include as relates to you being a lovely grandmother here on HubPages, please let me know in the comments (if you so choose) how many grandchildren you have and what they call you, as that is always interesting to know. If I have been incorrect on my information, please let me know in the comments below, if you so choose to comment.

If you are a grandmother here at HubPages, and I did not include you in this hub (as I only included the ones who commented that I knew of when my new grandson arrived), please feel free to let me know in the comments below. I am very curious to know just how many there actually are here on HubPages. That would be so interesting.

The joy of being a grandmother, is like no other, as all of us who are grandmothers can surely tell you of this fact. It is we who are blessed by the grandchildren. Each one is so very different and unique, and there will never be another just like your granddaughter(s) or grandson(s).

Just look for yourself at all of the lovely grandmothers that I know of and their beautiful faces. I know without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, that each and every single one of these women have such a lovely heart, and so their grandchildren are blessed beyond measure to have them in their lives.

If you have a funny story about the funny things your grandchildren have said, please feel free to share here in your comments, if you so choose to do so. It will bless many.

Our children, of course, are great, but our grandchildren are grand no doubt!!!

A Couple of Funny Things My Oldest Granddaughter Has Said

My oldest granddaughter, who is now 4 1/2 years old, was in her room up at my house one day riding her rocking horse. I was trying my best to get her to look up at the Popsicle framed picture of the LORD that I had made when I was a young child at Vacation Bible School. It was hanging high above the door. Finally, I got her to notice His picture, and she had a surprised look on her face and then said, with a very big smile on her face, "Him is my favorite man!"

On another day, she and I were looking through and reading her children's Bible, and I had forgotten that I had placed, in this particular Bible, a picture of the LORD. When she saw His picture, she said, "Him has girl hair." All I could say in response was . . . yes he does?

LOL - She just cracks me up to no end.

Of course, this is the universally accepted picture of our LORD, and we may be really surprised once we cross over into Heaven, just how He really looks.

Please Feel Free

If I have not included the number of your grandchildren here or what they call you, please feel free to include that in your comment below, if you are going to comment here.

Plus, if you are reading and are not one who had commented on my grandson to be hub, and you are a grandmother, please let me know in your comment below just how many grandchildren you have and what they call you.

I have two granddaughters and a brand new grandson and they call me "Nannie." Whatever comes out, is what you are called from then on out.

Also, please feel free to add any comments as to the funny things your grandchildren may have said, if you so choose to comment here.

I know of a couple more good friends, i.e., SPARKLEA and GOTTABEGOD, who both have many, many grandchildren and who I am blessed to know as friends here via HubPages and otherwise. I have added them both to this hub.

      Morning Faith Reaper.

Bill beat me to the comment, because for three hours or so being in Europe I was still in the land of the nod as you are more than likely doing the same at this very moment. But I must say having a gentleman as Billybuc beat me to the line is an honour in it's self.

The Hub! Well what can I say all these wonderful ladies are leaders of their own family clans, each grandma a treasure to every child. There is nobody greater than one's own grandma, but may be granddad comes a very close second.

      Wonderful hub Faith.

Take care and have a nice week.

Ha, yes dear one, I was in the land of the nod! Yes, Bill is a true gentleman, as are you!

Yes, I was surprised just how many lovely grandmothers there are here on HubPages, and I am sure just as many granddads.

I love your writing, and I am playing catch up here, so I will be visiting you soon.

Oh, Faith! What a lovely way to start my Monday. You are so sweet and kind to give us old gals a tribute like this. I am honored to be one of those proud grandmothers here in Hubland.

My house is filled with handmade things my children and grandchildren have made for me: those are my treasures!

Congratulations on your newest. I know how proud you must be. Before I had grandchildren, I wondered how my co-workers could get so excited over the birth of a grandchild, then I understood.

I think God gives us grandchildren in hopes that if we made mistakes with our children, somehow we will make it up to the grandchildren.

I have a plaque that says: "If Mother says NO, ask GRANDMA""

I voted this Hub UP, etc. and will share of course. There is no share button yet, but will try to do later on.

Blessings to you and your newest! Mary

      Dearest Mary,

Thank you so much for your beautiful words. Your heart just overflows with love for all and especially the grands. I know what you mean, as most of my Christmas decorations on my tree are from when my children were young and now from my grandchildren that they have made for me, which makes it so very special to me.

I am blessed to have found out about so many other lovely grandmothers here on HP, and I hope that those I do not know of, will let me know here as well. I was quite surprised and blessed to know of this fact.

I think you are right about when God gives us grandchildren, it is in hopes of learning from our mistakes with our children and blessing our grandchildren to the Heavens!

I love your plaque . . . and it is so true, as my son now says, whatever happens at Nannie's stays at Nannie's. Ha. My friend had given me a beautiful little pillowwhen my first granddaughter was born, where one can insert a photo on the front of it, and it has "When a baby is born, so is a grandmother." I cherish that, and that is a thought, as when any baby is born, there is a grandmother out there also born, hopefully for the grands sake.

Thank you for the vote up and share dear one. It is still in pending status until . . .

God bless you. Have a lovely day. Hugs to all your grands from me.

Well, Thanks for including Gram in your hub. Roscoe is tickled that he showed up somewhere else besides my profile page!

I get names mixed up sometimes, you know how that goes. and when I do get names wrong, I hear a great yell from my oldest grandson. He is a great corrector. I even get the dogs names mixed up sometimes.

Then we have times where it is loud and we need it quiet. The grandkids learn that too. If the adults are talking too loud, we will hear, "Sh, I need it quiet now." from my grandson. So we follow suit and start whispering and he just smiles-he has the power! LOL

      Mh,

You are too sweet with your words here. Oh, me, thank you so much really dear one. I appreciate your kind words and I am glad you stopped to read about all the lovely grandmothers. Ha. I am sure a subject you want to read.

What is ironic about the whole grandmother thing, is that I never knew either one of my grandmothers growing up. One died early of lung cancer when my mother was young, and on my dad's side, she lived so far away from where we lived, but died early too. So sad, but I know my grandmother on my mother's side had to have been an angel, as my mother is the sweetest woman on the planet - as I always say here.

Thanks for stopping by to read.

Dear Faith, My maternal grandma was not a "typical" grandmother. She was a free spirit long before it was fashionable. She worked all of her life, even with 3 children, putting me mum in charge of her two younger brothers while Grandma took the bus to and back from the dress shop where she worked. She'd close up shop and come home to make a fantastic dinner every night and go back afterwards to finish her work. Later in life she was a real estate agent, successful sans any license!!! When my grandfather died at 60 years old, she took a bus to Barstow, CA, alone and opened a health food store. One of her stories was that Charlie Manson drove up in his van with his entourage, all carrying backpacks, which they filled and left with, as my grandmother hid out of sight. I still treasure a silver "cuff" bracelet she had initialed for me and wear it often. I still remember her intuitive advise to me as a youngster to "Let Go and Let God", and "stop looking for a burning bush, Amy. The answers come in a whisper". I feel my grandma guiding me everyday.

Oh how very precious of you to share your cherished memories here. I am so blessed beyond measure, Amy. I can just picture your grandmother, so free and confident. What a story about Charlie Manson!!! Yikes. I know you do treasure the silver "cuff" bracelet she had initialed for you. Amy, God bless you for your most touching comments here to add so much more to this little hub. You are the greatest and a treasure to all who know you, and to me, especially. I know your grandmother is there guiding you dear one., and I do understand about the answers coming in whispers.

I'm not mentioned in here, not yet! Saying this, you should write a hub about grand fathers. The best source would be ourselves leaving statistical comments letting you know who is who in the grand parenthood realm. Great ladies in here for sure. Bravo for the heartfelt writing of yours!

None of you looks old enough yet for grandkids. Enjoy your time with your grandchildren. I had two wonderful grandmothers for a long time. LOL, just let me know when you do become a lovely grandmother and I will make mention of it, as that would be huge news no doubt!!! LOL. Yes, there were many men who commented, but I did not know who are grandpas or not. I did thank all of those who are not grandmothers and all the men too who shared in my joy of my first grandson, and you too, who were one of those men.

Yes, each and every grandmother here is so lovely and their grandchildren are blessed to have them no doubt and vise versa of course. The grands are just a very special kind of love like no other.

I am sure there are many more grandmothers here on HP of whom I am not aware, but I was blessed to know of all of these for sure.

      My youngest grandson (at the moment) is full of sayings, I would need an entire hub to quote them, but I will leave you with one;

When he asked where his father's father was my daughter explained he had had a heart attack and was in heaven. My grandson replied, "Well, let's take a plane up there and see him."

Faith, this is the most beautiful tribute to grandmothers I have ever read... so special... so much love felt in this hub. I enjoy my children, for sure, but being a grandmother has given me so much additional joy. I just cannot explain it. But, you are a grandmother, too so you know exactly what I mean.

I have two daughters. When it seemed like my oldest daughter was going to be the sole source of grandchildren, my youngest daughter, who claimed she would never have children, graciously gave birth to her first child. I also have two step children from my second marriage - a daughter and son. But, they are holding fast to the single life and are currently living the single life with no prospects in the near future (that my husband and I know of).

I have a total of four grandchildren.

From my oldest daughter, I have three grandsons -

Zachary: Age 13; Christopher: Age 9; and Donovan: Age 8

From my youngest daughter, I have a granddaughter -

      Willow: Age 23 months

      My love for them overflows.

      I am well-blessed.

May the Lord continue to bless us all.

      Grandmothers united in love!

God bless you. In His Love, Faith Reaper

This is a beautiful hub, my second as a granma. I actually have 10 grandchildren, my stepchildren have blessed us with six of them. Bill has 3 boys, Mary has 2 girls and just had a boy 3 months ago. Rodger has 2 of each, the ones in the picture and the only ones close enough to see very often.

David doesn't have any yet, nor plans that we know of. Katy is just 15 and says she doesn't ever want any, I changed my mind too once I grew up. The pictures of yours are adorable and the new one made me want to hold another newborn. Oh well, maybe some day. They are so much fun at that age. Mine are from 3 months to 14 so I may even get greats before I get too old to enjoy them. Hahaha

What an absolutely fabulous hub tribute to the grandmas of HP! Thank you Faith for adding me. I apologize for being late for the party. I did find out that my grandbaby due in early March will be another girl. YAY! She has an exciting big sister Faith who is awaiting her arrival. My husband's side has twin grandgirls and a grandson and the grandgirls are awaiting their baby sister in April. So by April my husband and I will have 6 grandkids. Hi Faith Reaper, I am a proud Nana (that's what they call me) of...oh, let me see...3 boys by my oldest son, but now he is in a serious relationship for almost a year and she has two children, a boy and a girl, so that makes five. Then my next son has five children, four girls and a boy, so we are now at 10. Next is my son Scott who has two adopted boys, a foster boy they are trying to adopt, and one they had but the adoption went awry, so let me see, now we are up to...hmm...I think that's 14.

Names, hmm, I hope I don't forget anyone:

Christopher, Gavin, Coal, Collin, Aubrey, Lola, Brynn, Ashlynn, Sean, Royenn, Max, Sam, Josiah, Nicholas.

I am pretty sure that's right. I cannot remember all their ages, but they run between 7 months and 19 years.

Wonderful hub you have here. Thanks for honoring Grandma's. Being one is the greatest gift.

Yes, being a grandmother is the best. There is nothing like it and I know the love that comes from being a grandmother too----it is a very special love, that bond between a grandchild and his or her Nana!

I am so glad for your visit here this day and knowing of another grandmother here on HP! Must update now.

How is it that I'm just now finding this lovely hub? I'm so honored to be numbered with this group of grandmothers. I have two darlings: Gray (7) and Bella Bryn (5). They are both the children of my only daughter. My boys are married - and need to get busy with the grandbabies!

The best thing about being a grandmother (or in my case, a Granny) is now your child knows how you feel about them. There is absolutely no other way for them to know until they have children of their own.

Another awesome Grandma here on HP is phdast7 whose grandchildren call her "Shesha." There is a story there. Hope she see this post and tells her story.

      Hi Kathleen!

I am glad you found this post. Yes, it was written about 13 months ago, after someone told me, after seeing my post, I think about my first grandson to be, and saying I looked so young to be a grandmother, well, my three call me, "Nanny" ... Anyway, that had me thinking of all the young grandmothers that I knew of at the time and hence this hub came about. You are truly one of those very young looking grandmothers too. Isn't is wonderful to be a grandmother! I just love your darlings' names, how beautiful. I shall update the info under your profile pic up there.

I knew phdast7 had a big beautiful family from her posts, but was not sure about any grandchildren. So thank you for telling me such. I will be sure to add her here too. When I learn of a grandmother here on HP, I try to remember to update this hub. I love the name her grands call her! I do hope she shares her story about that name.

Thank you so much "Granny" : ) for visiting here and sharing.

      Blessings to you and yours,

      Faith Reaper

Faith: Kathleen Cochran is my penname, my middle name and my Grandmother's married name. I use it for my novels, so I can write what I want/real life without scandalizing my mother's card group. My married name is Smith, so Granny Smith seemed logical. My grandchildren's other grandmother already earned that name.

This is a nice community hub. Would like to see more of this kind of thing, though ideas elude me.

      Hi Kathleen,

Thank you for sharing. Yes, my pen name is a combination of sorts, for my given name means "reaper" or "harvester" and then I just threw in the Faith part because I am growing in my Faith each day.

I love that ... "without scandalizing my mother's card group" and I can so relate to such LOL Ah, that is so cute, Granny Smith.

Thank you so much for saying it is a nice community hub. Yes, it would be nice for more of these, even though they do not rank well with Google, and this is fine with me!

I am sure you can think of something.

      Blessings to you and yours,

      Hi Dear Mary!

It is hard for me to think that I had written this 13 months ago. Wow, time passes so quickly it seems. Well, I certainly could not include you ... one grandmother extraordinaire no doubt! I know of just how blessed all of your grandchildren are to have you for a lovely grandmother and vice versa of course! Oh, I love that and it is so true : ) There is just something extra special about those grandchildren ... it is hard to explain to those who have not been blessed with any just yet. We do love our children, for those grands just get a hold of one's heart and fill it with such joy unexplainable for sure. I never had a clue either, until they became a beautiful part of my life, and I cannot imagine a life without them.

I am well dear lady, and I hope you are too.

Hugs and tons of love your way,

Hi Jo, God is using you right now, and when He is ready for you to find the one He would have be your spouse, just like He kept me pure too until such time. Then after five years of marriage I became a mom. As you know, my son blessed me with three darling grandchildren at his young age of 19. God wanted my other grandchild to be with Him in Heaven, so I will meet that child when He calls me home.

Oh lush i am very sadden to hear that Faith really really . It made me feel queer , seems like i hardly have words to put together here for you. I was very excited for you and hoping it will be a capricorn child like me lol.

Well God knows best and in our mortal minds we cannot see why He'd do such a thing, but He can see in the future and what would have become of that sweet little thing. Or maybe child birth might have caused your daughter her death etc. Only He knows..........

Yet i am sorry an please accept my condolences.
