The Beginning of A Dream

Updated on September 9, 2014

The beginning is where everything...well, begins.

Life is difficult, that's obvious. Ask yourself (as you've probably done before) what you want out of it. For example, I want to become a famous author and publish my own books. That's my dream. Like you, I must decide if I will pursue that dream. That's the first step.

What's your dream? What do you want out of life?

Now that you've found something you want to go after, you have to figure out how to begin that journey. Much like writing essays, the openings of a good movie, and so on, the beginning always seems to trip us up. After you get started, however, things smooth themselves out. Life makes us nervous and leaves us feeling unprepared. For someone who wants to dive into a career that is unstable, I sometimes feel like my dream isn't worth the effort. Have you ever felt that way?

I have found my answer in motivational phrases and pictures, inspirational movies, and the success of others in my field. I also have the confidence in myself and my ability to accomplish my dream. After all, once you accomplish it, isn't the effort and struggle worth it? I encourage you to find your dream and chase it. No, better yet, step over it into something greater.

Life is many things. Namely, it is unpredictable. That doesn't mean that your dream is impossible (no matter what society says). In fact, the mere fact that life is unpredictable could mean that you become that one-in-a-million you want to be.

I say, strive to be different. I say, chase the most absurd dreams and laugh at the faces of those who doubted you. You are you, not anyone else. You are special. Why not let everyone else know?

The sky never ends. Why should your dreams?

Never let your memories be greater than your dreams.

What are you doing right now?

Are you:

  • stuck in a dead-end job
  • a single parent trying to take care of your family
  • a teenager struggling on his/her own
  • dirt poor or filthy rich
  • tired of the same routine
  • ready to move on to something better

Even if you don't fall into those categories, haven't you ever felt like you fell short of where you wanted to be?

Hundreds and thousands of people get stuck in life. They settle for a career they may not be happy in. Are you one of those people? Has anyone ever told you that you can be whatever you want to be?...Many people probably. If you're like me, you brush it off thinking 'yeah, yeah, that's what they all say'.

However, they are right. You can be anything you want to be. You have to have the drive and determination to see it through. Maybe that hard-headed stubbornness of yours will come in handy here. Be stubborn. It's YOUR life.

What lies beyond your gate of destiny?

Mistakes and Fumbles

We've all made mistakes and made a fool of ourselves at some point in our lives. When we look back on those times, we tend to relive those emotions. What happens when you re-live your embarassment? You can get stuck in what you've done wrong.

When that happens, it's easy to put yourself down. If you have a low self-esteem, those moments are nightmares you can't forget. Never let those single moments affect your future. If you continue looking back on those mistakes or failures, you won't be able to see your dream. Keep in mind that the past is set in stone--unchanging. The future is the only thing that is unconfined.

Be what you want. Don't let the past deter you. Forgive yourself and forget about those not-so-pleasant moments. As you might have told yourself before, you're human. We make mistakes on a daily basis. That's why this world was created to make room for our mistakes. It is so we can make them and move on.

Keep your eyes and your mind focused on that life-long dream of yours. Be determined to see it through, even if your past is telling you that it's impossible. Nothing is impossible for us. The mistakes we make, the accomplishments we complete, it's all to tell you what you should already know--we, as humans, are limitless.

There are no bounds for the past, present, or future.

Would you change?

If you could, would you go back in time to change something that happened in your life?
