Content-Numbers and Hubbers....Oh My
Facts Are Simple-Facts Are True-Facts Are Getting the Best of You
John Sebastian of the band Lovin' Spoonful told me years ago that there's 1352 guitar pickers in Nashville. ? Mark and the Mysterians cried 96 tears. Another band told me one is a lonely number and yet another more curious sang twentyfive or six to four. Now I'm just repeating what all those folks were trying to tell us in song but the point is repetition is a part of our everyday lives. So why then do the computers or moderators or whoever the hell runs HP constantly bombard us with this message: Note: A substantial portion of the content on this hub appears on other pages. To which I say "Yeah, so what"? There are, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, approx. 171,476 full entries in current use. 47,000 + obsolete words and 9,500 derivitive words. Of them one half are nouns, one forth adjectives and one seventh verbs. To expect that words will not be repeated is laughable. Just look at those Weekly Hub Pages nuggets you get every week. It's littered with sameness right down to interviewing of folks who write nothing but drivel (which often times is the same ole same ole). They seem to be able to fly under the HP radar (not really, they are just the chosen ones) writing about what to buy your 8 year old daughter for her birthday, which doesn't sound like a big deal until you read that an iPad or something else costing hundreds of dollars is the recommendation. While we'd all love to be able to buy those things for our kids many of us can't afford the lofty gifts. Recently what I thought was a great hub about the events of 9/11 (Micky Dee) was taken down and the reason given was that it was not up to standards. Well guess what HP, it was up to my standards, it was information that I wasn't aware of. Another of my favorite writers here Wesman Todd Shaw has the same thing happen. Both he and Micky Dee choose to speak the truth and challenge the business as usual attitudes of this country and for their efforts get hubs removed for reasons even a rational person would question. Do you want HP to be the same sterile bullshit that you get on the evening news? I don't! Every word I've written here has been used before in some context so I'm guessing that a substantial portion of this hub can be found elsewhere on this vast internet but like I said earlier "so what". Let the people decide what they want to read, not a machine or the powers in San Francisco that claim to run this thing. That's the end of my rant for the day, now let's see how long it takes the wonderful wizard to find this hub substandard and yank it. Uncommon sense is killing this country so you all better keep your eyes open, you're next! Peace!!
