Earn Extra Money Online

Everyone is an expert at something, whether it be fixing cars, taking pictures, travelling, painting murals, saving lives, making gourmet meals or even sitting on the couch. What is your expertise? Do you have ideas that you’d like to share about this expertise while earning some extra money?

HubPages is a great writing site to share ideas. At HubPages, you’ll find thousands of articles called hubs written by people from all over the world with a variety of backgrounds and expertise. Many people join the site hoping to earn some money from their hubs, but many others just join for the sake of writing and learning. Here you’ll find articles or hubs about anything from how-to guides to some awesome poetry or short stories.

Writing for HubPages

This is not a blogging site in the traditional sense. While you may share personal experiences, your hubs must appeal to the public in general, not just your friends who want to read about your daily escapades. Please take the time to read the documents in the Learning Center concerning the differences between blogging and hubbing.

This is also not the site to use for promoting your business or other opportunities. Overly promotional hubs are not permitted. Again, visit the Learning Center concerning this.

Making Money on HubPages

Can you make money writing for HubPages? Yes; absolutely! You need to know, however, that like all other things online, it takes time, effort, and patience. In the beginning, you may only see pennies. After a while, it becomes half a dollar. Wait even longer, and you'll make the $50 payout every month.

For some, this could take up to a year. For others who write a lot of quality articles in a short amount of time, this could take a few months. Either way, there is money to be made.

To make sure you are doing all you can to earn, visit the HubPages' Learning Center and learn everything there is to know about writing a hub.

Be Wise in Name Selection

What will your 'name' be? Will it be your actual name? Will it reflect your chosen topics? Will it be random?

Choose wisely.

Do You Fit in Multiple Categories?

Uh oh. Do you have expertise in more than one area? Super! You can still write hubs! Isn’t that great?

Take a look at my name here: ThePracticalMommy. What would you expect to read from this name? Parenting and family hubs seem like they would fit best. I do have other types of hubs though, like my hubs about teaching or my poetry.

You can do the same thing. While it’s probably wise to stick with the category you know the most about, it’s perfectly fine to branch out into other topics as well. Many seasoned hubbers branch out into different topics, while others stick to what they know best.

Before You Begin Writing for HubPages

Once you’ve thought about the hubs you’d like to write, there are still some other things to consider before you begin writing on HubPages:

For one, can you write in English? English is the only language that is acceptable here at HubPages.

Do you write well in English? Articles that are filled with grammatical errors or misspellings do not do well in the online writing world.

Do you have patience? I’ll be honest with you. Writing articles online takes time, especially when you want to do well and perhaps earn some money. You need to be patient. It takes time to be recognized by an audience. It takes time to be recognized by the search engines. It takes time to be recognized as a credible source. You cannot expect to earn money with only one hub after a few hours. It might be a few weeks or months before you actually see something happen with your work. Just be patient.

Are you willing to learn? Want to know what’s so great about HubPages? They’re willing to teach you! I believe I have mentioned this already in my hub, but HubPages has a great Learning Center that contains hubs and videos aimed at helping all hubbers be as successful as possible. There are also many, many hubbers on the site who are willing to help out if you are in need.

Are You Going to Write for HubPages?

After reading this, have you thought about whether or not you'd like to join the site?

Interesting Hub, it gives a lot of ideas for when you don't seem to find any. It reminds you about the knowledge you already own.

      Have a nice day :)

What a great hub on writing hubs. There are a lot of people out there that don't even realize that they have some sort of expertise. Your list is very useful in helping people tap into their own knowledge. I'm definitely voting this one up.

i love the way you state it quite clearly, that hubbing and blogging are not the same. yeah i agree with that, hubbing is much more not just a little more than blogging.
