Five Reasons I Write For HubPages (Why You Should, too!)
Everyone writes for the same general reasons- and a couple of very specific reasons. Here are mine.
#1: I Love To Write
I honestly enjoy writing. It doesn't matter what kind of writing. In college I enjoyed lengthy research papers. I like learning new facts and information. I guess some people would call me a know-it-all. I just like to read informative articles and to be knowledgeable.
I also try my hand at creative writing. I write poems and short stories. I have my entire life. My writing philosophy is that I want to write about every day things in extraordinary ways.
Reviews and How-To's are the newest thing I've added to my writing repertoire. This has budded through HubPages. I get to write personal articles that help people.
#2: Make Some Extra Money
I have only made just over $20 in 6 months. The first couple of months I was not very active. As soon as I started writing quality Hubs, my views started growing. I started to promote my page more and more and learn more about SEO and other "tricks". My profit started to grow exponentially. I'm now addicted. My goal is to be making $600 per month on HubPages.Currently, I average about $12 per month.
I'll keep updating and let you know what happens.
What do you think about HubPages?
#3: The Community
The community on HubPages is amazing. The comradeship is what makes it easy to get views. Other writers are willing to visit your articles and leave thoughtful comments. Not only do these comments make Google like you better, they give you insight and good advice on how to improve your articles for other readers. The writers on HubPages are supportive and helpful from what I've experienced.
The community is also good for networking. You meet a lot of different people from different countries and professions. There is always a chance for a reference, or job, or collaboration. It's also great for portfolios and to show off your work.
#5: Get Noticed
I want to be noticed as a writer. I have an education and a good enough job, but I am really passionate about writing- and I think I'm good at it. Many people on HubPages have been approached by journals and asked to write pieces. I'm just waiting for my turn.
Update September 30th, 2014
I have only written a couple of new Hubs and continue to update old ones. My total earned to date is $327.42.
Update: January 18, 2014
I have made over $220 since beginning my adventure here on HubPages. This may not seem much, but over the last 6 months I have been getting about $20 a month, which pays for my lunches for a week. I have not written a new article in over a year and I only spend an hour or so every few months updating my current Hubs. Its not a get rich quick scheme but if you hang in there you might end up with a little bit of play money each month. Let me know if you find success on HubPages as well. I would love to hear your story!
