Important Things to know for new writers on hubpages

Before attempting to start a hub, first you should read up on the terms of service in its entirety, so that you don't get your hubpages account placed into any grey area's for improper submissions of web content, usage violations or other potential issues.

Hub writing takes a great level of know how, and also is actually like a job in the real world filled with many differing responsibilities on your part. Many new comers have joined hubpages with absolutely no idea what’s in store for them, so hopefully this helps a bit.

You need to read things in full detail, and especially those things that point out what the rules, rights, and our responsibilities as an online author of yet a single hub.

Located after your hub's title is the hubscore bottom right corner

Hubscore & Hubber score

Hubpages has a control system in place to also help us all along the way, so if we perform anything that appears potentially inconsistent with the good inner workings of the system here, it may instantaneously inform us via the my account section or during hub creation. Whether such an error, was out of our poor judgment, human error, or pure ignorance to the program the founders, and staff have put in place.

A great hub on what your hubscore actually equates to in terms of your efforts here on hubpages is entitled, "Why Is My Hub Score Fluctuating? 3 Steps for Maintaining a High Hub and Hubber Score?"

That awesome hub was written by one of the hubpages elite J.S.Mathew, and points out many of the key issues that many new and veteran hubbers have yet to notice. The very truest facts about their activities here on hubpages also known as hubtivity, and how such complacent activity may be affecting their score.

Your hub activities as a whole, will surely make a difference in terms of community involvement, and earning your place in the ranks of hubpages, which is based on Hubscore, and hubber scores primarily.

Now if you look at the constant build up of accolades of the most active hubbers, or the lack there of, you can easily notice how active or not a member has recently been, which is also indicated towards the bottom of your profile, or any of your fellow hubbers profiles. This is all criterion which all new writers on hubpages need to become aware of, if they intent to use hubpages for a future revenue stream.

You need to read this terms of service entirely - Your account depends on it, if not you can be making a huge mistake

Hub Violations and Issues

Don't be afraid if you notice there's some new indications that may show up on your my account screen, just be alert to adhere to the issue at hand, and correct it as soon as possible. Hub violations are common for those people, who potentially have ignored the rules, haven't yet read them, or just have no concept of how the hubpages system works.

If anything try to keep up to date on all your hubs you subsequently published into the system, because not every hub gets detected for issues or violations right away. This is a very important thing because you can be placing your precious hubs in jeopardy, by simply ignoring your responsibility as a hub writer to check your account regularly, especially if you cherish your earnest efforts, and looking to be a permanent active member of the hubpages community.

I say again your hubpages account can be heavily penalized, possibly even shut down, thus making it obsolete, if you ignore the my account section for to long. This has happened to many users simply by them not keeping track of their hubs, and by not regarding the potential hub issues that had needed to be addressed. The hubpages system also sends you emails, as reminders if need be when any issues occur on your account, so check your email from time to time as well.

Mike, these are very useful tips for a new hubber. Understanding of the terms of service is extremely important if one intends to remain on hubpages for a long time.

Even otherwise it is always better to abide by the rules of the site one is writing at. That is being professional.

      Thanks for sharing.

      Voted up and useful.

@Scottwkelley, Hub traffic can be a tough thing to figure out indeed, I do believe it all depends on your sharing in the hubpages community as a whole, and elsewhere outside of hubpages.

Its worked wonders for me thus far, and for many other people as well, Thanks for giving my hub here a try, and I hope to visit your hubs soon as well, i got my work cut out for me for sure, but I'll do my best to make it to you to help in your efforts as well.

If you haven't yet joined some of the cool Facebook groups, you can give my profile here a try, and it will lead you to one I got started up, to help others with sharing efforts. Good Luck! & chat with ya soon.

While I have put up hubs here in the thought I would try to get revenue, just the opposite has happened. A bit of my traffic to my sites comes from here from what my analytic tells me. Publishing here is a good thing no matter how it works.
