How to Gain More Traffic and Earn More Money

It seems that on Hubpages people are always interested in more money when they should really be interested in more traffic. Traffic turns into ad revenue which turns into more money in your account.

This guide is here to give you advice about how to improve your hubs to get better ranked on google. Before reading it, you should know that it is easier to rank with older content.

These tips can be applied both towards new hubs and old hubs that need a little bit of spicing up. Don't be afraid to toy around with your older content to improve it's ranking.

Rank First On Google!

Improve Your Titles To Rank For Keywords

When writing your hub, one of the key ingredients to optimizing for search engines is a good title. Titles that rank for keywords often get more traffic because people want specific things. Although ranking for high competition keywords can get you more traffic, there is often more competition and it is harder to earn a spot on Google.

When you target long tail keywords, not only are you going to have a better chance of ranking, but you are also going to get more targeted and direct traffic.

Starting your title with a keyword often helps rank better. That means if you're trying to rank a specific keyword, you should start your title with your keyword.

Follow Hubpages Goals When Writing

Hubpages offers a goal system that concentrates on word count, images, and capsules. These goals help optimize your Hub for search engines without you doing anything except following guidelines.

The best way to get more traffic is to improve your word count. Content is king online and the more words you use can be looked at as the more traffic your hub will generate.

Also using the 200 word summary that hubpages offers can help you rank for certain topics. Optimizing your summary to be descriptive and informative can help you rank better.

Make Sure Your Content Is Original

If you want to rank higher on Google, it's a good idea to use original content. Original content is content that can't be found anywhere else on the web or is a collection of the best resources. Avoiding posting an article on hub pages and another blogging platform can be extremely beneficial to your traffic.

Google penalizes duplicated content so be sure not to plagiarize. Don't copy and paste content into your hubs because that is considered duplicated content, even if it's quoted.

Optimize Your Images

Capsule Subtitle - using capsule subtitles on your images can help google find keywords and rank your hubs better. It also gives the reader a better idea of what they are looking at.

Name Of Source - This helps you cover up sloppy looking links and can also be beneficial for keywords.

Source URL - Using a source URL is a good benefit of hubpages because not only can you credit a website for using their images, but you can also benefit your hub by outbound linking to more authoritative sites which is thought to help send trust signals to google.

Caption - Captions are important not only for descriptive purposes but they can be optimized for search engine rankings just like articles.

Add Reviews

If you're writing a hub that can review a product, don't be afraid to do so. Hubpages offers it's own rating capsule but you can also include other websites like Yelp codes in your hubs.

Googles algorithm looks at reviews and ratings as another key ranking factor. These can be especially beneficial if you're reviewing a specific product or want to reference keywords to popular items.

Using The Editor

Lists and bullets makes organizing things easier. Google also thinks this and is thought to prefer content that has bullets and lists.

Bold, italics, and underlines help organize content for the readers and is thought to show google organization.

Using proper wording is also a convenient tool. Properly displaying text is important and can help you optimize certain keywords by making them headers.

Don't Overdo Your Hubs

Adding media and other capsules can help your hub. Just remember that too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

Don't use too many images in your hub looking for easier ways to rank. Even though there are hubs out there with 100+ images, you don't absolutely need images to optimize for google. Some hubs even have no images and do rather well on google. Images are just a benefit and not a necessity.

Minimize your capsules. Organizing content is great but don't use too many capsules that can be intrusive to a reader. It's doubtful that a reader wants to watch 4 videos in a row. Use capsules one to two times and avoid duplicating capsules. Text capsules are a different story and help you build your content, it's advised you use as many as you need.

Is it Useful Content?

If you write a high quality article that has no target audience, not only are you wasting your time but you won't get any readers!

Being an expert or doing your research on targeting a certain audience can help you generate more traffic. People want more reliable sources and so does google. If google sees that your hubs are the 'go to' spot for a certain topic, you will be better off in the rankings.

In Conclusion

In conclusion the most important factor to ranking and generating more traffic with Google is having content that people want to read and targeting those people. Instead of writing hubs for people, write your hubs for google and people.

      Hey Thelma,

Don't worry about your traffic being low, not even professionals can perfectly optimize for search engines. One of the biggest factors to getting ranked higher on Google is time. Just give it time and google will start sending traffic your way. If you keep providing great content and don't give up who knows what you can accomplish! Good luck :)
