How to Make Money on Hubpages, Can you do it?
This is the first hub I've actually created a video on youtube.com to explain how to use the Keyword Tool, so be sure to watch that below!
I've made $35 so far on hubpages in the past 11 months. Why? This is partly due to my lack of work ethic and partly due to the small amount of time I've been here. You see, on hubpages, the general consensus is that it takes a minimum of 7-9 months to make money, and then more for your money to grow...Over time your hubs are read more and more and become more visible in the search engines. But what I'm going to touch upon here is not about how long it takes, or even how much you make, but about discipline and what I've learned from my experiences.
Why haven't I made more money?
Many hubs of mine are on Christianity and poems which do not sell well. People don't tend to buy things off them, like they would say if you wrote about the latest purses or clothing wear. But I do enjoy writing them and they do and can bring in readers who will eventually see my other "sales" hubs.
My niche (category which I specialize in) is mental illness, or more specifically: depression, anxiety and bipolar. These hubs have gotten much more attention due to the length and subject, for many people, I believe, are searching for good information on this topic. In fact, these hubs may not bring in the most money, for they are not really selling anthing except self help books, though that and google ads on my pages could be sufficient. If you really want to make money, I suggest you write product reviews, and people online will be typing in questions or keywords, looking for your hub, which in turn will describe accurately and thoroughly the products and they may very well then click on your ebay or amazon ads displayed, as well as the google ads already displayed, and just clicks alone will earn you money.
Which hubs of mine have had the most hits? They are listed below and as of today 4/7/11, the one with the most hits, over 3,000, is Famous people with bipolar/depression/anxiety, etc.
Important Tips to Remember
Write quality hubs that have length (800 words or more is best!)
Use the keyword tool immediately after you publish, the keywords you find and use are the words people type into SEARCH on Google.com, which Find your Hub, so choose wisely. A global search of 3,000 minimum or more is most helpful.
Choose one or more topics that are potential money makers such as hubs with value imformation or product hubs.
Linking
Also:
- Link your hubs to each other
- Backlink
Linking hubs together is sort of an art form and takes some time. For example, if you write about bipolar, depression, and anxiety, all forms of mental illness, you should link them together, thus enabling your readers, who are looking for good information on mental illness, to see more of your hubs and read most or all of your hubs! Not just one. By creating links you draw your reader to read your other hubs and that = more traffic.
Backlinking is when you paste the URL of your (one hub at a time) hub onto facebook or reddit or any other socail networking site, so that those readers can come and check out your hub(s) which in turn again give you more traffic.
Niches
Again, you might want to write about one thing or maybe not. Many hubbers have talked about using several different hub accouonts, each one for a different niche, which is a great idea. It's like having one company to sell shoes, one to sell books, but you don't have to, you could have a "7-11" which sells everything! Sometimes varitey is the spice to your account but it's your descision.
