How to Write for HubPages and Earn Online

Updated on May 13, 2011

Writing for HubPages

Anyone who wants to get paid to write can sign up with HubPages for free and start writing articles that earn money in a number of different ways. HubPages is a massive content site that houses tends of thousands of articles, but each page is called a "hub" rather than an article. Each hub consists of a number of different components, including text, photos, links and comments that can be arranged anyway you choose. Your hubs can have a number of media links and pictures, and even video, or just text about any topic you want to write about.

Getting Started With HubPages

Sign up with HubPages and choose a unique user name. If you already have a Google AdSense account, put your publisher number into your Affiliate Settings page in order to earn a share of the AdSense revenue from each of your hubs. If you don't have an account, sign up with Google to get one.

In addition to earning a share of the Google AdSense revenue, you can also earn a share of the revenue from Kontera ads on your hubs as well as the Amazon and eBay affiliate sales made from each of your hubs. If you don't have accounts with those sites, sign up and then apply your account names into your HubPages account in order to earn a share of the revenue.

Writing Your Hubs for Hubpages

Start a new hub by clicking on the "Start a New Hub" tab at the top of the page. You will then be prompted to choose a unique name for your hub. You will then choose a category and some keyword tags. Choose these wisely in order to attract the best search engine traffic.

Organize your hub by choosing from among the capsules at the top right of the page. Click on each capsule that you want to add to the hub. Each click will add that capsule to the very bottom of the page. To reorder them after they have been added, use the up and down arrows that are on each of the capsules after they have been added to the hub. You can arrange them just about any way you like- but Amazon and eBay capsules cannot be the first capsules on the page. You must also have at least 50 words of text for each affiliate item on the page.

Write the headlines and text of your hub in each text capsule. Writing articles that focus on popular keywords can make you earn more from writing them, but don't stuff your hubs with keywords. No one wants to read nothing but keywords- write naturally and make sure that your keywords are on the page at least once. If you have added an eBay and/or Amazon capsule to the hub, configure it with one or more of your keywords in order to have products for sale on the page that relate to your subject matter. This can help you to make money writing the hubs by earning a commission from the sale of each product.
