How to drive traffic to your website in a simple and organized system.

Updated on April 9, 2011

The increasing numbers of bloggers and visitors

Believe it or not, the numbers people venturing in internet marketing are increasing daily. A survey and research results showed that 50 000 of blogs are being set up daily. Imagine that. That is your answer if you are still sceptical in making money from the internet. From my point of view, most of the time people find it overwhelming to go through all the reading and the learning curve. If you are a well read internet marketer, it is inevitable to miss this famous golden rule. Money equals to traffic plus conversion. It as simple as that regardless from which internet marketing guru you subscribed to. So what is the catch? Most people venture in internet marketing as a newbie will undergo a lot of "bootcamps" or reading and stumble upon lots of roadblocks and obstacles. So they persist for about half a minute and gave up. In their defense, it is a lot of work if you look at the important criteria such as unique content, search engine optimization and then driving traffic from social media, social bookmarking and so many more.

People have other jobs as well as other commitments. How to drive traffic to your website in a simple and organized system? My suggestion is to get your act straight and have it your way but make it simple and organized. Learning is important but so many people failed in internet marketing are because they failed to take action. Failing to convert what you learn into an action will cost you time and money. Thanks to social media, they also added other "distractions" that can throw our focus away and made us waste our entire evening in doing unproductive activities.

We cannot run away from the habit of checking what our circles of friends are gossiping about in facebook, their frequent every 5 minutes changes of relationships status or profile pictures. Then we have the ultimate tool to stalk someone that is called twitter and blogspot. It is also hard to resist ourselves from checking our favorite sport team’s website. Not to forget the most time consuming and ten times more addicted than television broadcast, which is the youtube. There are a thousand and one stuffs in the internet itself that can divert your attention to the things you ought to be doing. With all the recommendations and cute little videos of babies and bizarre talents broadcasted in youtube, the harmless 2 minutes video will act as a viral and without realizing it your whole evening is wasted because of a single innocent of a click. Here is my ultimate favorite, stating that people spend over 700 billion minutes per month on facebook. This was mentioned in facebook press room. Have you ever heard the saying “time is money”? Imagine if this 700 billion minutes per month being spent on facebook is spent on other things can could help poverty in the world. Logging in and out just to check your hubscore is also ways to procrastinate and not focus.

The three golden rules of having the simple and organized system

Between you and me, it is normal we always end up in a website and later quizzed on how we ended up here. With all the information intake flooded into our brain, most people will give up and got overwhelmed with all informations. Here are just three simple golden rules for you.

  1. Create a simple and organized system in an excel spreadsheet.
  2. Delegate each task, time and remarks on different column(refer the image below)
  3. Devote yourself to that simple and organized system.

Here’s an interesting case study of the big giant yellow smiley with red hair mascot, Ronald McDonalds. They have system, even an unskilled white collar employee can be their workers. They have S.O.P abbreviated from standard of procedure. As long as they follow the S.O.P nothing can go wrong. That is how the hamburger stand owned by Dick and Mauriced the Macdonald’s brothers became one of the biggest franchises in this planet.

Below is the image of examples of How I drive traffic to my website in a simple and organized system. It looked simple that is why it is being printed in excel spreadsheet. It looked organized and easy to follow. I made this my manual for my daily assignments. I allocate two to three hours of my time daily. After my due diligence is paid, then I am free to do other house chores or go for shopping. Make things simple and organized because in this learning curve of making money from internet it takes time to become an established all-round internet marketer. If you have trouble to start or write your article or blog, my previous hub on "How to be good and discipline in writing blogs." will help you and assist you to get your head straight.

The image below is an example on how I used to promote my websites or even hubs on social media and social bookmarking. Email marketing and forum are also great way to generate traffic. Click on the image below to enlarge it. So allocate your time wisely. For example, how many minutes or hours is being put in on a particular tasks and day by day make an improvement to produce desirable outcome.

Hi Tweetmom, congratulations on your HubNugget nomination. As a fellow nominee, I came to this article as part of a process of reading everyone else's work.

I admire the organisation process you've shared here. My biggest problem is bookmarking everything I find, that I know will be helpful to achieving success, but then not being disciplined anough to trim and cull that list down to an actionable size. Hence, time wasted..

Which reminds me, best I get on with reading those other HubNugget nominees!

So true...when there are moments that I don't list what I need to do today, I find myself seeing that I have spent two to three hours just flipping back and forth in an aimless fashion! Truly, having goals and direction can help achieve one's goals.

@s10ec_biz talk - YES! Organization is definitely KEY.

@entourage_007 - Tell me about it. Laziness comes when i get overwhelmed with the tasks ahead but if it is simple, it is easier to complete the task. Thats why i came up with the spreadsheet. Thanks for your feddback.

I have always fought using spreadsheets to track promotions, but that was probably out of sheer laziness. But After seeing your organization - it makes me want to have that ability to monitor my promotion efforts. Great hub

      Hello Hroger,

Thank you for asking, the expected results column is just for me to keep track of which methods work best for me. The "expected results' click (in my case) is how many traffic i get from that particular method. How many unique visitor that clicked on that link.

This image is not so much on how to generate traffic but more of a way to organize your daily methods in generating traffics. Huge amount of time will be saved when you have an organized diary of Internet Marketing.

      Hi Tweetmom,

Great hub you have here, I was just wondering about your 'expected results' column where you have the clicks noted in it. What are those expected clicks in Facebook and Twitter? Are those clicks that will convert into sales, users interest towards your affiliate products or just adsense clicks? I was just wondering. Once again great hub, thanks for sharing.

Yes, this one, divide your article in at least two text capsules, and put the picture in the second, by doing this you put the Adsense Ads above the fold and increase the chance of being seen by visitors.

Hi Pedrog. Thank you for the comment and tips. It is always great to hear a feedback from one of the top hubbers in this community.

Though i am a little confuse which of my hub you are referring to. Is it this one? How can I improve it.

I am a newbie in hubpages. Any advice will be very much appreciated.

      Hello, and welcome to Hubpages.

Great Hub, one of the problems we face is precisely the distractions we have online, i stop using youtube, i realize that "two minutes video" always transform into two or three hours of watching useless videos.

One tip: I saw you put a big picture as first capsule on some of your hubs, don't do that, first capsule always a text capsule with at least 250 words, check my hubs they are optimized for adsense, at least they were before the layout change...
