How to use the new topic template and Hubpages community help

Updated on June 29, 2013

Getting started

  1. First you must realize that this new hubpages template thingy is super awesome!
  2. Second follow the on screen suggestions in order to fully implement and fill out all the criteria and content placement that these suggestions help you to position onto the screen.

Arrangement of the template:

There are select zones to choose from which allows us hub writers to bring our text to life, and position imagery, in terms of a great photo. This will help us to appeal to those people online whom are to be viewing our articles, and it also helps them to easily navigate the hub pages we choose to create.

You also have the option to utilize the polls and table capsules, maybe even throw in a map somewhere. You can even opt out of using the informative guides in each capsule to change any of these areas of choice offered (By clearing the page entirely with a single click), but keep in mind that they are being made available there to help us maximize our hub writing skills. (Read each section highlighted thoroughly in the Hub Template areas, so to effectively improve your hubs reach online, thus potentially posiitioning it for achieving higher and higher views upon publishing and thereafter)

This was all done so selflessly by the Hubpages Team, and to help you learn to master your content placement as well as delivery techniques onto the screen here. (Stellar hub making is now on approach! prepare for digital lift off)

A hub without a good title is like a business without a company address, this video below will indeed help you improve titling

Stellar hubs need 5+ awesome images (legal images), annotation and proper link attribution

Stellar hubs factoids

Writing a stellar hub takes time, takes a great deal of grammatical accuracy and also placement & positioning skills of relevant content, that can appeal to the viewers of your articles on Hubpages. The more you work at it, the much better and awesome your articles will appear to be to the viewers. Your fellow hubbers are always around viewing and rating your hubs via the hub hopper and from the hubpages feed directly after publishing (Also they can detect such a thing from receiving email messages about each hubber they chose to follow).

So keep in mind to maximize its initial following and potential to gain web traffic also depends on how accurate and how the overall quality of your hub turns out to be.

Going Viral Status:

The viral frenzy can potentially begin if such a hub is given tons of love by them, this is where the social elements come into play and where each hub you launch can surely drive you all the way to the top of the search engine.

Google is powerful when it comes to the ranking of web pages as a whole and if you are able to keep the trends going in your hubs favor. The rewards shall begin to pore in a great deal over time, sometimes it can happen overnight, or take a week, and even months to a year+ for a hub to progressively catch onto them search engines. This sort of short lived web success for many hubs also depends on that of the usage of your keywords in the title as well as in subtitles, and across the entire article.

Be mindful of any Google search engine updates, they come around once a month, and hitting both major and minor league websites very hard for any potential content violations, especially those loaded with tons of low quality digital web page and content works that's (Text, imagery, video, sounds etc...) being put up daily or can also be floating around here on the web from months or years back.

Tip from the wise (Action to take): Try your best to work on your content, learn to manage it all day by day, proof read it, have others do so, ask for insightful feedback if necessary on its overall appearance, page navigation, resourcefulness aka usefulness, fun factor, and also make sure to keep your hubs both relevant and up to date)

(Spacing is also key! to writing a stellar hub = good web page viewing & navigation if done with respect to enhancing visual appeal)

Effective use of bullets require relevance to previous subject matter:

  • Once you have managed to gain the attention of the search engines this is where the hubpages system shall feature your hub article. This is an awesome thing when it does happen, because you may even begin to get elated if you're in fact the type who enjoys watching your stats take off like a sky rocket, especially if its been stagnant for quite some time.
  • Choosing to monetize your hubs sometimes also motivates some folks here to keep intense watch of their stats and surely with an eagle eye, and you cannot blame them neither. For it all begins to equate to dollars rather than cents, when any hubs stats are super hot! (When going Viral! = 1000's or millions of views in a short period of time) and quite the opposite when their not.
  • Don't be alarmed though, depending on the validity of your article the timing of the year, the type of hub you chosen to publish, its hub category of group placement (Niche grouping of hubs), titling, usage of keywords, the contents within (Evergreen is best!) & in all its finer points (Relevance), official references & online resources used (Link attributions), hubkarma (Sharing the inbound link hublove for others by creating internal hub links to relevant hubs of fellow hubbers - use link tool), number of links, product ad placement if any etc...
  • All these things have a huge factor on how successful your hub shall become over time. Even how you choose to utitlize dates on your article matters, and usage of relevant videos (From Youtube, Vimeo, Metacafe etc...) which can be used to help effectively enhance your articles overall message.
  • The amount of time you have managed to keep folks on the page counts hugely for the search engines, social sharing elements (Using the social sharing buttons - encourage your friends and family to do so if you share you hubs with them online, it helps but they should not be logged into your account.) and tons more factors.

This video helps folks to learn how to properly link hubs, which equates to good hubkarma, and is factored into hubber score

Have you had issues hubbing

Many people have experienced a wide variety of differing experiences on hubages, and mainly due to the skill levels of each person choosing to author here, time onboard, and also that of their own initiative to learn how the Hub system works and that of the community activities.

If you've ever had an issue with understanding it all, then this poll here on the right side is for you. Some of us have been trying to help our fellow hubbers and ever since we figured things out a great deal here. So if you're new to Hubpages, please do realize that you're not alone and the answers are coming, just don't hesitate to ask questions in the Q&A area of hubpages and someone shall answer them over time.

Providing solutions for others

As a hubpages author its tough to learn the ropes, and so many of us who have initially came here expecting things to go awesome right away, will indeed need help from one another no matter who we are (We all are in this together as a community of writers).

This is where writing helpful community style hubs comes in and you can utilize the template they provided to learn how to do such a thing. Make sure to place focus and emphasis on driving folks to the Hubpages learning center and Faq, in every hubpages community style hub you publish to help them even further.

Lost & Found:

People will remain lost as long as they don't learn what is in the hubpages system for their assistance and their overall learning process. As writers of the web many of us will be required to write and submit content according to certain set standards, and so by learning to help one another and by using these online tools the hubpages team/staff provides us all. We can infact find smarter ways of living up to much higher standards of digital excellence and can soon earn our keep over time as well. (The entire community needs to adhere to these same standards though in order for us all to benefit as a single networking website)

Just never forget that providing useful relevant links to internal locations of official hubpages resources, is the name of the game to successfully help guide folks the right directions. (Hyper linking the Hubpages Learning Center is a start and in your HP community hubs)

Imagery is powerful and provocative (By using 100% original images it maximizes your potential to score with the search engines)

Make sure your images are legal

Image powers & what to know about their usage

If you chosen to utilize any images externally on other websites, be sure to use them legally such as in providing a link attributed to the original owner. You cannot do so without getting authorization to do so, and or usage of a creative commons licensing agreement.

Not getting permission and attempting to provide a link back to the original owner of any images across the web or even on the ground will still be considered copyright infringement.

So make sure you think before you choose to submit your images, also if its a public domain location on the web such as on Flickr, and referred to there as "The Commons", you still need to provide link attribution even if its copyright free. (Look at image towards the right for proper public domain link attribution and from Wikimedia Commons)

Important to know: To be safe use your own images and be careful not to infringe on anyone's copyrighted content within your image as well. Certain commercial items (Products) cannot be photographed or video taped for additional commercial usage (displayed in monetized hubs or non monetized hubs), even people need to be asked if you can use their image.

For the commercial products you can ask for permission, and get the rights to use their products in your imagery. Simply make contact with the company or business who owns the product, maybe via an online inbox message through their business email, Youtube inbox for video usage. (Provide your email, and contact info as to where your adding such content, web address aka link url)

Hubpages community hubs

Writing hubs that are designed prmarily to either help the community, to spread the hublove or the likes will generally recieve less web traffic, and so be advised that if you are to sacrifice your time for such a honorable deed, keep in mind that its being done to help us all, and not to earn huge stats.

People are looking on the web for much more relevance pertaining to what they need and want to purchase, for entertainment value, for research, and maybe how to fix their lawn mower etc...

They haven't the time to be searching through hubpages style hubs or resources when you come to think of it, they have Facebook posts and twitter tweets to deal with, and all the Google Plus circle jerks to contend with as well. This is why when you post up content to any of those locations, these style hubs may never see the light of day, or shall we say hit their computer screens, and mainly because they aren't of interest.

One thing though to consider is, when you are contributing to the hubpages community, it is being watched internally behind the digital walls of hubpages. So it shall see consistent internal hubpages web traffic, as long as you crafted well with the best high quality usefulness you could possibly muster up, and even then the web traffic shall be low. This may be because many hubbers would more rather use the Hubpages Learning Center on their own time and may be super busy trying to discover other juicy delightful hubs to read and to share socially, ho really knows.

Throw in a map if you can manage to do so, it helps
