How to write a fast HubPages article*

Updated on May 10, 2011

There are a number of reasons why to try to write a fast article. Mostly, in my opinion, it is the ultimate test of a writer: can you make a point in as little time as possible? If you can, you really know your stuff.

*This is intended to be a tongue-in-cheek article written for fun and thus is not long or exhaustive, but it was fun to write!

Plan Ahead

Make a list and check it twice.  Have subtitles and all relevant descriptions in your mind before writing.  DO NOT wait for creativity to flow when you sit down, as it will not.  Like a burp, if you try to force the issue, you will only make a mess.

Write about something you know

Makes sense.  There are people who make a career out of researching things.  Thus, you can spend a lot of time on it.  This is not compatible with writing a fast article; for example, avoid writing about Shakespeare's The Twelfth Night if you are in any form of hurry.

Be Concise

I'd elaborate, but then I'd defeat my own point.

Have Fun!

Isn't writing supposed to be fun in the first place? Keeping it light and cheerful is the best way to write a fast article; if you are enjoying what youi write, the words will flow out of your fingers like a faucet.  Personally, I wrote this article in 15 minutes flat from clicking "start a new hub" to "publish".  If I can do it, you certainly can, too!

Nice burp simile. I'll have to share that with my students; I'm sure they'll love it.
