Hub Pages...cha-ching!

Updated on February 15, 2013

Hub Pages is not a get rich quick scheme...unfortunately there is a lot of competition out there...and many, many outlets to share one's thoughts and if you're looking to make it rain solely based on your efforts here on Hub Pages you may want to move on.

This is a place to hone your craft, share with friends and hopefully if you're lucky enough...get noticed. Sure there may be some people here making enough to survive on, but they are the exception to the me on this. Ask your fellow hubbers how much money they are making here on Hub Pages...and if they're honest they'll tell you just about enough for a meal off the dollar menu at McDonalds...if that.

If you're here with the hopes of breaking the bank, you would be better off playing the lotto, getting a better job and/or selling your organs (or virginity) on Ebay. Nothing worth having is easy, if becoming a professional writer is your dream then you must pay your dues...and not just here on Hub Pages either...but across the web and in your everyday life too.

It's not impossible...but it's also not easy...there are many opportunities out there...but for every available opportunity, there are a bunch of hungry passionate writers looking to fill that spot. Have you ever watched a pack of wild animals feasting on a's a mad be able to eat you have to get in there and get yourself some...or you'll go hungry. You have to give your must dedicate yourself completely to your dream...if you're going to do it half donkey then you might as well just stay home.

So...what to do when the only person viewing your Hub Pages is you...get out there and promote yourself. Use all the social media networks that are available to you, post on various forums across the web, find and contribute to other similar sites to Hub Pages, start a blog...and scream it from the tallest building around...let the world know you are here and you will be noticed and not ignored.

You can't wish on a falling star, you can't break a wishbone and you can't toss a penny in a well to make your dreams come have to get out there and make it happen yourself.

Sorry if I rained on your parade...or if I burst your bubble...but I just didn't want you to be delusional and think that by posting a few hubs here on Hub Pages you would be the next J. K. Rowling...or Ray Barone.

This advice not only holds holds true here...and for aspiring writers...but also for anyone looking to make something more of their lives than just the status quo. Come on people, stop liking and posting positive messages on Facebook...forwarding them in emails...and start living the positive message to those around Nike says, "Just do it".

This has been a Mele minute...and that's one to grow on...only you can prevent forest fires...and all that other good stuff.

@epigramman thank you very much for the kind words and positive feedback…I really appreciate it.

I love the attitude and the humor…you sir are a true rockstar.

I agree Hub Pages is a great tool…a good way to meet new people and to hone your craft…but definitely not a money maker…not by any means.

The only way to really make some money is to do it on your own…cut out the greedy middleman.

Thanks for stopping by…and don’t be a stranger…remember stranger danger.

Well Sir Michael - you are a world class blogger/writer/man of all cyber seasons and beyond - I can tell by the way you write with clarity, confidence and deliverance.

I am probably one of the most famous unpublished writers in de world and perhaps the parallel one too and I have not made one single penny here in over two years of labor at the Hub, Bub.

It's been a learning experience meeting lots of nice people (some not so nice) and loads of homegrown talent too - the more you write the better you get - they say - and so nice to meet you kind Sir - you write like Godspeed - and I thought they were going to give you a speeding ticket on the autobahn , lol

Sending you warm wishes from Colin and his cats at lake erie time ontario canada 2:17am

@jaydene I would hope so too...but you never know. One may have a lot of hubs...but no it would kind of be like talking to yourself.

Great advice, it is true that is does take time, and lots of writing, and i find that is okay to use it as a hobby, and not set sights on making money.

I am not sure if anyone here has over l000 hubs, but i hope with that many, one could afford a complete dollar meal:)

@Dan Barfield thank you very much for the kind words and positive feedback my good sir. I just don't like to see people get their hopes up and foolishly believe posting a few hubs will make them rich and takes a lot of hard work to make it to the top.

@Cyndi10 so very true...Hub Pages is a great place for aspiring writers as well as those who do it only as a hobby...a great way to hone your craft...and as you've said very addicting.

Your Mele Minute is time spent wisely. No get rich quick here, but many neat writers and lots to read, not to mention a wonderful place to publish.

I think most are aware of the addiction that Hubpages responsible for! :-)

@Ericdierker anytime my good sir...I always got your back.

@midget38 amen to that sister friend.

@mary615 me breaks my heart...too many people are looking to get the money for nothing...and the chicks for free.

@xanzacow I am in the same exact boat my friend...maybe we could put our earnings together and split a double cheeseburger and a small fry.

@Sunshine625 I hope not either...but times are have to do what you have to do to survive.

Your Mele Minute is to the point and accurate. HP isn't a get rich scheme. Selling your organs or virginity on Ebay doesn't sound like a good plan, hopefully no one is desperate enough to consider it. Haha!

I feel really bad for all the new writers who come on here and expect to start making money right away! It does take time and patientce.

      Voted UP, and will share.

You are right, Michael, this is not a place for a heady start. But you do learn a lot about writing and the income comes in consistently, something you can save up slowly. Thanks for sharing!!

Thank you good person. Too often I write in the mushy gushy world of non-empirical stuff. My wife tells me to preach more about what can be done rather than the ethereal garbage I like so much. You are a great coach and motivator.
