Hubpages: How Do We Get Traffic Back? Here's How!
How do we get back the traffic to Hubpages? That's the question on everybody's lips. Over the last few weeks Google has been once again dropping our Hubpage traffic. For some reason Hubpages seems to have dropped off the map. so why?
I did a bit of investigating.
First of all I took a look at a few video clips from Google + about how Google works.
Long story short, one of them stated that Google will only put two of each site on Google's front page. For example two Squidoo, two Hubpages and so on, so as not to overwhelm page one with a single site.
So on this assumption I took a look. And after throwing out some random titles that I made up on the spot, I found that none of the Hubs came up at all. Try it, you may not know the name of a certain hub but you can bet your doodahs that Hubpages is usually on page one or two.
Not any more. I searched and searched right down to about page 5 before I got a random Hub.
So, whats it all about?
Is Google Being Picky?
Well that's my opinion. Like anything else in life and especially on the Internet, things change. And the new kids on the block are starting to take over.
Like a sinking ship we Hubbers and many more from other sites seem to be jumping ship. Okay we may not be leaving here, but we are all on the Bubblews band wagon.
And who can blame us? We all want to earn money, and Bubblews is a great way to get quick cash in an honest way.
But there's only one thing that leaves a sour taste for me.
I love Hubpages, and the people, and the crew, and the....well you get my point.
So, come on guys lets get this site back to the top. It's the best one out there.
I understand that we have always had the ups and downs when writing for the Internet. And Hubpages has always been one of the best sites on here.
I still believe that writing evergreen hubs is the way to go. Surely Google will realise that the short spammy sites are going to fade into oblivion pretty soon.
So the best way to write is to keep doing what we do. But maybe with a little tweak here and there it can recover much more quickly.

Do You Agree With These Statements On Hubpage Traffic?
First of all Adverts.
I have noticed a down slide ever since Hubpages have taken away our Ads.
Okay within 24 hours they are up and running, but I get the funny feeling that somewhere in hyperspace, behind the scenes or Google just having a grumble, this is messing the whole thing up.
Okay, it takes a few days for a hub to get 'placed' by Google. So why is it that since our Ads have to wait, our readers have slumped?
Apart from the fact it looks a darn mess without the Ads. Surely Hubpages knows by now who are the good writers and who are the scammers? We have been on here long enough.
In plain English, give us our Ads back. Please?
Tags and Keywords.
Doing my Sherlock Holmes bit around the site, I noticed that when my screen didn't download properly I could see behind the photos and articles. And guess what? yes.
Millions of Tags and keywords! Each and every article or photo had so many tags, (words that define the article) that in fact some of the articles were shorter than the hidden tags!
So why can't we have our tag boxes back? I know you told us that you do the tags, and now Google only goes by the keywords in the actual article, but if that's true,
WHY DOES ALL THE TOP ARTICLES HAVE HIDDEN TAGS BEHIND THEM?
One rule for them and one rule for us.
If you look at another Site's layout, its totally different to ours. Yes they do sometimes have photos, and yes they do have lots of writing. But.....
It really all depends on what they are writing about.
I took a look at quite a few different Articles. Many of them just had writing, with a few links or Ads in between.
Obviously the Celeb Sites had loads of photos. This I believe is purely because the people who read about the celebs only want to read a little bit then look at the pictures.
The serious ones however, just had the facts. And that was all.
How Many Words?
And last but not least, these days many people want a quick fix. Literally. They want the facts and that's it.
I think the days of very long articles are at an end. Don't get me wrong, I don't think we should just write a few paragraphs and that's it. But surely 500 to 700 hundred words will do it.
Hopefully our readers will come back. And even more to the point Google will stop pushing and pulling us all over the place.
Hubpages is worth the effort.
But maybe its time for a change of style.
