Hug of the Day...to Sparklea on HubPages
Introduction to the Birth of the "Hug of the Day"
This "Hug" is written in partnership with fellow hubber and sweet friend, Jackie Lynnley. Our plan is to send out a “Hug of the Day” each, on alternating weeks, to a fellow hubber of our choosing, who we feel to be an exceptional writer and who may just need a bit more "HubLove" coming his or her way. This idea was born when I sent Jackie an email and inadvertently put as the subject of the email, “Hug of the Day” in lieu of “Hub of the Day”, and so Jackie came up with this wonderful way in which to spread a little more “HubLove” or should I say “HugLove” all over HP Town!
Just Look at That Beautiful Smile!

Hug of the Day ... Sent Around HP Town and Beyond
Personally, I love giving hugs. I am a hugger. On this day, I am sending out a big hug of the day to fellow hubber and friend ... Sparklea!
All of you out there in HP Town, who have the great pleasure of knowing Sparklea and her wonderful writings, as well as her most enthusiastic commenting, know why I would choose to send out this hug of the day to her this day.
My hope is that all will join in here this day to give Sparklea a loving HP hug, for no other reason than for Sparklea being Sparklea!
One would be hard-pressed to find another as full of enthusiasm as Sparklea. When Sparklea’s profile photo pops into your hub to leave a comment, one knows immediately, a smile will adorn one’s face after reading her heartfelt and enthusiastic comments.
To be honest, when I see her lovely face pop in with that big smile, I immediately receive a blessing. Let me tell you why this is:
Sparklea is genuine and forthright. She is the real deal here dear friends. If you do not know Sparklea and have not had the pleasure of reading Sparklea’s writing, you are truly missing out. As you may have noticed, I have Sparklea’s link to her hubs placed right under her beautiful profile photo. I highly recommend you visit her profile page and read her most endearing hubs.
It is always amazing to me, the friendships that develop here on HubPages, when we may never get to meet such a friend in this life. Sparklea lives all the way in Upstate New York (with her husband and four cats) and I live in southern USA. This is one of the very aspects of HubPages that make it such a wonderful community in which to belong. Not only friendships develop from across the United States but span the world. Sparklea can attest to such world-wide friendships and close bonds.
Sparklea is blessed with a grown son and daughter. Can you believe she is a grandmother of six (to include her husband's)! Yes, indeed, four boys and two girls.
Sparklea's Powerful True Life Story of Grace and Forgiveness
- The Most Beautiful Woman I Hardly Knew (What It's Like To Be Adopted By Your Grandparents)
I wish to share my experience of being adopted by my grandparents on my father's side and how my sister and I were able to forgive our mother for abandoning us.
Sparklea's Beautiful Character
Sparklea and her sister were adopted by her grandparents. Sparklea's true life accounts of being abandoned by her mother are truly gripping and heartrending. This is a powerful true testimony as to grace and forgiveness.
As I have gotten to know Sparklea through her profound writings and commenting, I am reminded of Sparklea's character when I read God's Word at Proverbs 31:20 & 25-27.
“She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy ...She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”
Although I have not included it all here, I believe all of Proverbs 31:10-31 truly applies to Sparklea, and ...“She is worth far more than rubies.”
You will see just why I am reminded of such scripture while continuing to read all about this beautiful person, with such lovely, yet strong, character, as it unfolds before your eyes.
Sparklea is a no-pretense kind of person one feels comfortable with immediately, especially being greeted with her warm smile and friendly personality.

Sparklea's Heart Condition
No, I am not speaking of a health issue here, but of Sparklea’s heart, which is so full of love for others as well as love for all of God’s little creatures.
You see, Sparklea has a heart of love for the downtrodden or homeless. She ministers to the homeless and even asks their name, so that she can add them to her list for those whom she is praying, and believe me, when she says she will pray for you, she does! She has prayed diligently for me when I had serious health issues.
Sparklea’s heart is so very sensitive to God’s little creatures, for when she sees one of His little creatures on the side of a road harmed, she will stop and tend to the little creature. Allow me to share just part of Sparklea’s answer to a recent question I posed about what would one do if one had the money (that of a certain celebrity's family) to help others . . . and Sparklea’s answer shows just how full of love for others is her heart.
I am sharing Sparklea's answer to that question, as it reflects just a mere glimpse into Sparklea’s heart for the downtrodden and God’s little creatures:
“I also have deep compassion for homeless people I see on the street. When on vacation recently, I saw a homeless man on the street, asleep, leaning against a lamppost…in his arms was a little dog. A second little dog lay on its side below the man’s feet. My daughter and I were racing by, as we had a tour, so I could not stop.
I have not been able to get that image out of my mind. I added that man and his pets to my prayer list.
That being said, I would use the money to build a shelter for homeless people AND also build an animal shelter. I would hire people for pay to work at both places…to cook food, provide bedding for both homeless people and animals.
They would have to be compassionate loving people.
The other day, I was on my walk and decided to take a different route, which I NEVER do.
I spotted an injured chipmunk in the middle of the road. It was curled up like in a ball…blinking its eyes. I gently picked it up and I carried it to the woods. The animal rested its left paw on my thumb and laid its head on my hands, shutting its eyes to rest. I placed it gently by a big tree under a bush. It then started to walk a little. It broke my heart…but I KNOW God had me take that different route…
I said to my friend, Jackie, WHY does God do this to me? I get SO heartbroken with animals! She said, “God did it because He knows you would not walk by that injured animal, that you would save it from being run over by a car.
(We already have rescued 2 cats in the past… we have an orphan and a stray living with us).
Anyway, that is what I would do if I had that kind of money. I have no interest in diamonds, yachts, or partying.
Every homeless person I have helped along the way, I always ask them their name, and I place them on my prayer list.
I do everything I can do, then I pray for them, and I put them in God’s hands.
Thank you for a very thought provoking question.
Blessings, Sparklea : )”
Sparklea’s comment brought tears to my eyes, tears of joy, as I praise Him for Sparklea and her heart of pure love for others and those of His little creatures on this earth.
Who are these three furry friends ... I do not know, but if they need a helping hand, Sparklea is right there no doubt!

Allow her to share in her own words from her heart in this revealing hub she has written.
