Hubpages A Dollar A Day Is Better Than Nothing | Smile

Updated on February 16, 2014

Discussion About Hubpages Income Program

Hubpages instituted their own income system for members of this community; although I am not computer literate enough to understand the mechanisms and algorithms. Yet, I comprehend that when checking the dashboard in the Hubpages back office, a tally of money earned appears. Whether you review your status once a day or weekly, I'm sure you will immediately notice your income shining in bright blue colors. Strangely, they didn't use the color of money, green, but something a bit more soothing.

You need a PayPal account to participate in the program. When your earnings reach $50 on Hubpages, you will receive a direct deposit into your account on the 22nd day of each month. In contrast, Google adsense pays out in the last week of the month after you reach $100 [twice as much] before you get your earnings.

Most Asked Questions About The Program.

Check out the official Frequently Asked Questions section and scroll down to the two subsections 1) Making Money on Hubpages and 2) The Hubpages Ad Program. The steep learning curve for newbies to Hubpages may turn some away, but the rewards can be great if you are willing to stick it out. Start with something small, not too fancy, and get your feet wet.

One place to start if you sign up is the Hub Hopping section to read the types of articles being written in real time. You may rate them, pass some over, and find some gems.

Pennies From Heaven

A Dollar A Day

If you are interested in belonging to an author's community [sometimes called a content mill] and wish to try your hand at writing blogs that can also provide a stream of income, I encourage you to join Hubpages. You will get a nice profile page, to write your bio, link your website and list all of your Hubpages articles. Over time your fans will grow and so will your monthly 'green.'

The behind the scenes team of administrators keeps the pulse on social networking, Google upgrades and changes and how to present each member with the Hubpages Brand. And, if you can keep within the ever changing guidelines then your hubs will be read and supported by this community of authors.

You will learn the limitations and the variety of ways to decorate, organize, and compose elements of your Hubpages blog. There are numerous tutorials provided both by the administration and by individuals, like myself, who like to share some tricks and hints we learn along the way to making superb Hubpages blogs.

You may ask yourself whether it is worth all the time, effort and energy to write a blog here for a few pennies a day? The answer depends on if you get a kick off of the feedback from seeing a dollar sign or whether you need a bigger jolt of $10, $20, $50 or more as incentive to write.

Are you the type of person who picks up a penny off the ground when you spot one, or do you walk right by? I remember a study that showed most people will leave the penny laying on the ground without so much as a nod. However, some great personalities coined a few telling phrases that may stick in our minds.

Consider this, the longevity of your work on Hubpages may stretch out for years. That one blog that earns a few cents today, could add up to much more over the course of time.

A Light-Hearted Look On Life's Troubles

I'm adding the smile song to tell everyone to keep their chin up and keep going. Charlie Chaplin exemplifies this happy attitude. The number of Hubpages discussions about the many rapid unexpected changes to the way the adsense, google and hubpages monetary systems work can put a frown on your face. That won't look too good, nor will it improve the situation.

Rather, we're in this together, so maybe someone can get us out of this mess. We would all like to learn how to improve ratings, get more views, make relevant material that people want to read, post appropriate links and possibly get a few more pennies into the bank.

I just love the different shapes, sizes, colors and expressions of the faces in this video. I'm sure they can tell us something about the person's innate attitude on life. Maybe if I study those facial analysis books I will learn to understand people better. Or perhaps they're all smiling because they earned a few bucks for making this song! Now, that's something to sing about.

Okay. So I'm not even making a dollar a day. I'm in for the long haul.

Some Money Worthy Quotes

A penny saved is a penny earned. ~ Benjamin Franklin

  • Although it may not be gaining value tucked away in the bank, the more of them you save, the more likely they will add up to something that you can use to purchase material goods or donate to a worthy cause as time passes by.

If you would be wealthy, think of saving as well as getting. ~ Benjamin Franklin

  • Could Benji be overly concerned about money? Was he the type that would take a risk, or maybe he took so many risks and lost so much in his ventures that at one point in his life, he decided to take the safe route to wealth and simply pocket all his earnings.

He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money. ~ Benjamin Franklin

  • We hear his moral conscious speaking about a person's motivation to earn more and more, without taking stock in the aspects of life that may be of greater value.

A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it. ~ Bob Hope

  • Bob may have lived in a different generation, but his words ring true in today's economy. Small business owners have a difficult time getting any loans. In addition, investing, by stashing your money away in a bank with these low interest rates, pays a return much less than investing in the longterm relationship with Hubpages and your talent as a writer.

Talking about banks and the best way to save, everyone knows that the safest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it in your pocket. ~ Kin Hubbard

  • I'm wondering if there is a special bit of magic to that gesture. That 'double-fold' creates a thicker wade of currency, whereas you can't feel a thing when the money goes into the bank.

I suppose one of our contemporary leaders in the financial market tells his motivation, but I truly question the validity of his remarks. Money was never a big motivation for me, except as a way to keep score. The real excitement is playing the game. ~ Donald Trump

In today's day and age, I think money is on everyone's minds. Our economy stress factor compare to a crack in the system. We're waiting for it to split apart at the seams. So, if you are part of the human race and will face the fact that you ARE concerned about money, have the desire, talent and time to devote to writing some articles then I give it a thumbs up to Hubpages.

The only way not to think about money is to have a great deal of it. ~ Edith Wharton

  • Edith was a wise business woman and understood that something of concern and worry will stay on your mind. Once you gain success and acquire enough money to provide a sense of security, it would not plaque your mind anymore.

A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore. ~ Yogi Berra

Yogi went up a few coins from pennies, to nickels and then to dimes. Not only didn't he "double" his money because you can't fold over the coins like paper currency, but the value, which he once felt could have twice the purchasing power, no longer could buy much at all.

Hi thanks for sharing, very helpful:) I also discovered something the other day. I'm new to hubpages...but my Hubpage programme is making $1/day. I still don't quite understand how the hubpage program works. I might need to read more about it.

Hello Marj ~ You must be doing something right [write!] for you to be earning $1/day with just a couple of Hubpages under your belt. Maybe you can tell me YOUR secret? There are plenty of links to my other tutorials on this page. Good luck!

Hello Justice ~ I like your last name and that's how I'm trying to think - positively about this whole thing. I just read an article that says people are paying their rent with their hubpages income. I don't think I could do that with just $15. But, who knows, maybe in another ten years it will amount to something if the internet still runs and we continue to receive hub credit. Blessings, Debby

      Hi Debby,

Sorry it's not $1/day it's $0.01/day :) My error! I'm still trying to understand how the Hubpages program works. I just joined a few days ago. I've only posted one article so far. :)

And you are right... Uban is truly an encouraging writer that makes people write more on their hubpage :)

Hello Marj ~ That statistic makes more "CENTS" to me because with over 130 hubpages I do not even get a dollar a day. If anyone has some hints and tips, please let us all know at least one secret. Although, I'm thinking the trick is to post a hub daily, comment on other hubs, give Hub Love by linking to other hubs, getting active in the Forums, making some friends and working like a dog. I like Hubpages for chatting to people ut I'm not sure it's all that for making money. It is good, however, if you have a site elsewhere that makes money and you use your hubs to promote it.

Dear Carolyn ~ Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog. As I mentioned people like to post back-links on everyone else's well written articles all over the internet to boost their ratings and rank. The other approach you have taken by becoming a Hubpages regular author and getting this community interested in you and what you do will also boost your rank and visibility around the internet. Good luck and keep playing your song. Debby

Hi Debby. I'm not quite a dollar per day yet, in fact, far from it, however, I love to write and will keep plugging away in the hopes that I will eventually get there. I totally agree with your main concept - a dollar a day is better than nothing. Voted up and interesting.

Hi Richard and Peg ~ I appreciate the comments. It's true that Hubpages may be a great place to test the waters, improve your writing techniques, meet others and receive feedback. At the same time, the rules to the game create boundaries to an informal approach especially when for most of the authors making money is the end goal. Many blessings to my friends, Debby

I earn, on average, about half a dollar a day. I will continue to write on Hubpages no matter how much I earn. I enjoy writing and writing for a community of supportive fellow writers. Although, my goal is to make $10 a day (a girl has to dream). This hub was very informative and clearly explained why writing for Hubpages is worth it in the long run. I voted this up and useful! :)

Actually, I'm finding HubPages to be well worthwhile. I've been hitting $4 per day quite frequently now and the trend is upward. What has impressed me is the CPM rate - I make more at other places, but that's with much, much more traffic.

      A dollar a day ain't bad!!!!

I do admit that I'm generally making at least double that....and though I do think I'm "pretty good at this" - I also realize completely that I'm sort of a dude with several niches that aren't ever going to be...everyone's cheeseburger.

Gosh Debby, I think that I hit "beautiful" for the totally unexpected endorsement for the big Ron Paul...I always love seeing that stuff.

I'd like to say that joining the ebay program...is well worth your time. I did, and I've noticed some...slow, low, but steady income from that too.

I can't think of any reason to NOT join that bit of HP affiliate earnings stuff.

      Hey thanks!

I just figured out that what I really do know a lot about and have some enthusiasm for ....are expensive acoustic guitars, and the folks who play them well.

It's NOT a lucrative niche at all, but because I do know what I'm talking about when writing about those things...I feel like that has given me some sort of "authority" with Google as an internet author.

I'm not certain if that presumed "authority" translates into helping my articles here or elsewhere about other things out at all...but I do like to imagine that it does!

I'm not sure whether or not I can help you at all with the ebay thing...but I will if I can.

I had to submit an online application...and a week or so later it was approved, and then the capsules operate very similar to the Amazon capsules...but the ebay capsules start off with your hub's title as the search term for ebay related products...and sometimes that's not going to work out right, so I just enter new search terms and hit "search" in there until something suitable shows up.

Debby, it's exciting to see the earnings grow. I just got my first payout recently and I'm getting to where many days I make close to a dollar a day. Today, I made $1.80, but I've been doing the 30 hubs in 30 days this month, so I don't know if that will continue. But I have made more each month consistently, so I''m hopeful. Plus, I love this community of writers in the meantime and am building a portfolio of hubs. I enjoyed your hub. Voted up among others!

Dear Victoria ~ I believe "consistency" factors as one important characteristic for improving and earning on your Hubpages. The fact that you are doing 30 hubs in 30 days tests your endurance and I found after my month's challenge I was wiped out. Sure, excitement and adrenal rush play a part, but then the drained feeling. So, you will continue to see more income with increased 'quality' Hubpages and consistent activity here. Very pleased to meet you and you have done wonders in a short amount of time! Blessings, Debby (P.S. many thanks for voting on my articles)

Dear Girls ~ It's not really a trick. If you are passionate about writing. Know your subject matter. Do research. Write unique and personal stories that people want to read AND use evergreen keywords people will find, read and share your hubs. Trying to game the system usually will not work because Google keeps changing the rules. Good luck. Debby

Here's what most people don't realize. The money adds up, especially if you have multiple streams of income. For example, you may earn $1 a day here, $5. a day with Adsense, $1. a day with Amazon and $1 a day with Squidoo. All of those total $240. a month. Puts things into perspective, huh?

      ;)

Smart thinking Supermom ~ I guess that's why they call you a "Super" mom! As a SEO consultant, blogger, Squidoo lensmaster, social media marketing strategist you know your way around the internet and "a penny saved is a penny earned." And when you put all those pennies in the piggy bank you may have enough to feed a family. Blessings, Debby

Dear Last Baby ~ As long as you have an Adsense account, you're good to go, and it won't be long before you are making $1/day. Good luck! Debby

A dollar a day is a good goal. Beats looking for 100 pennies on the street!
