Live Market Research for the HubPage community

Updated on June 7, 2012

I always like to know where my audience is coming from, what their interests are, what they like to read, what motivates them and what turns them off. Apart from writing pages for outsiders, I love to write for the hubbers inside this community. I read somewhere that more than a million people are already on Hubpages. A knowledge of your consumer (which in this case is the friendly Hub Pages community) helps one make the decision on what to write and what not to write. I have an idea which requires your support. I don't know at this stage will it help or not or will anything substantial come out of it. But, for the benefit of the entire Hub Pages community I feel a simple market research will help each one of us to understand the audience better. I intend to keep it very transparent, that is why I am putting it all together as a hub. I will share the collated results as soon as significant number of people have answered it. A figure of 150-200 is what I am looking at as the sample set would be significantly large to establish conclusions.I assure you that this information will not be used for any other purpose than understanding the audience of HP better. It will remain completely confidential and anonymous. Also, no information will be asked to you which is already not public.

If you think any good might come out of it kindly take a minute out and answer the poll questions you see below.

Basic info and Demographic questions

Purpose:In this section questions on demographics, employment and basic info will be asked. Question on country/continent might be used to create content suited for a particular geographic region for eg. 'getting rid of sun- tan' is an irrelevant topic if most of the hubbers are from colder nations. However, the same topic might be very useful if the hubbers are mostly from tropical countries. Question on marriage and age gives an idea about how relevant specific relationship oriented hubs are here and what is the maturity level of the audience.

Thank you very much Timetraveler2, this thrives on the close knit network that Hubpages is. Each person expressing herself/himself here will gradually lead to collection of a solid piece of data which benefits all. Thanks again for the feedback.

Thanks a lot Sherry Hewins :). Hope so too. I am willing to keep the poll on for a long time. I understand it takes some effort and patience to fill a survey. Once sufficient number of people vote, things should get clearer.

It's interesting to see what people say, even with the small sample you have so far. Good luck to you, I hope you get a good response.
