Pet Peeve - Pointless Hub Questions

Updated on February 13, 2010

What to do about the pointless questions asked here on hubpages? There are plenty of significant questions that could be asked to encourage reader discussions on topics relative to life in these precarious times. Inquiring minds want to know! Even if the answers are purely opinion based readers looking for meaningful answers could use them to help affirm or negate their own opinions, which could certainly make for good debates.

Granted some peculiar questions could be of interest to a few others, however many go unanswered probably because they are pointless or really non-questions. Currently there are nearly 10,000 unanswered questions on hubpages. Hubpages is a terrific place to learn something about any and everything, the ability to ask questions is a beautiful part of the hubpages experience. When asking a question check to see if it has already been answered. Gauge questions for public interest and pertinence. Check spelling and composition, is the question asked in such a way that it can be answered? Is the question sincere? Is it a question that whomever is asking can answer with a good hubpage him/herself? People 'playing around' here on hubpages detracts from the credibility of the site. Hubpages wasn't designed to be a catchall for nonsense questions or insincere interactions. If someone asks a question that doesn't get at least one answer then possibly these issues mentioned are present.

The authors here are always eager for questions needing meaningful and educational responses, whether opinion based or factual. Keep them busy with good questions!

Yes, I agree with you. I have answered quite a few and I don't mind doing it but some of the questions are inane.

Excellent Hub and it has made a lot of valid and important points. I sometimes look at the 'unanswered' questions. Some of them are just weird, some don't make sense at all and some are just dumb. I really like answering good questions and reading other hubbers responses. So much so that I've often run out of time for doing any writing!
