Many bloggers have guest blogging for their blog. There are a lot of advantages to guest blog posts and many people write articles to promote guest bloggers and the pros of their posts. However, there are possible dangers when you accept guest bloggers for your blog that you should be aware of.

Some webmasters will accept guest blog posts without moderating their posts and the consequences for you and your blog could be extreme. These are some of the possible dangers that you and your blog may see from guest posting to your blog.

Damaging blog image

Your blog image is what gives you credibility on the web and as a freelance writer or blogger. Visitors and an audience are built around a blog based on the image portrayed. Your image can include the tone and voice of your blog and especially the quality of work that you provide. However, if you accept guest blog post you could alienate members of your audience or lose credibility that you have worked extremely hard to cultivate. Always consider the image of your blog when accepting guest blog posts

Poor material or content

Some guest bloggers merely want to post anything to get a great backlink to their own content. They may produce material that is subpar or full of keywords and SEO that does not provide any type of relevant or informative information. Make certain the information or material provided is excellent content and relevant for your audience.

Duplicate content

Some guest bloggers will merely copy and paste a post they have on their own site or blog. When duplicate content is found on the web you are penalized by the search engines. Ensure the content they are providing to your blog is not duplicate content.

Make a good fit

Some guest bloggers may submit any type of content that may or may not be relevant to your niche or blog. Ensure the information accepted is good for your blog and fits with the direction and vision you have for your content and the future of your blog.

Offensive material

This is rarely seen, but quite possible. If you aren’t carefully moderating content material and certain of the guest bloggers intent it is possible you may have offensive content for your blog. Confirm the article or post a guest blogger is submitting for your audience is something you feel comfortable with and that your readers will also. Don’t allow offensive content to be posted under your writer credentials.

These are dangers or disadvantages that a blogger may realize by accepting guest blog posts. Be careful of accepting guest blog post without moderation.

Many bloggers that do accept guest blog posts will allow bloggers to submit content for review or provide a blogger with an idea of concept to create a post from.

Guest bloggers are a great way to bring new readers and traffic to your blog and can be a win/win situation. Though, when deciding to allow guest blogging confirm it is the right thing for you and your blog.

Useful advice. Toyed with the idea of a guest blogger a time or two....now I think I will forget the idea.

Great topic! People generally focus on the positives of guest bloggers, of which there are many, but it's important to consider the negatives as well.

Useful. Voted up. I had a crawler virus put on my blog and knew nothing about it until I checked Adsense and they had the information on their report. You could lose the Adsense account if there were repeat situations like that.
