Redgage NOT Reddit

Updated on March 22, 2015

Social Networks

Above is a tiny portion of Networking sites. They are useful to promote your writing. Yes, you may not get many hits, unless your 'friends' are deeply into what you are publishing, but at least you can get some attention.

If you are writing about Star Trek for a Star Trek crew you'll get a lot of hits, especially if you have 48375 friends.

But when you write on different topics, it is a hit or miss, and in many cases, it is more than a miss, it is an attack.

Above is a partial list of Bookmarking sites. These are used to publicise your writing. You will write then 'share' on these sites plus others.

Or so you think

Many, if not most, of these sites will toss your work into the garbage, unseen, unread. They will not promote your work, will demote it.

Huh? You Say...aren't these sites to promote work? Don't people go there and find items to read?

Not exactly.
Especially when members are allowed to 'vote' or 'comment' on your share.

Hence it becomes a waste of a keystroke when you post your item on one of these sites.
And no greater keystroke waster exists than Reddit.

I have said it before, this site is a Troll Village. It exists to allow Trolls to insult and abuse people without any chance of punishment, because the mjority of moderators of the subreddits ARE Trolls.

These people exist to vote down every link you publish, to declare anyone who posts a link to their own work a 'self-spammer' and attack until their fingers drop off.

Authentic Experience

Many years ago, bookmarking your sites was 'knee jerk' .

There was an add on, with a number of sites listed. You'd put in your details for each of these Networking sites, and one click on the icon had your chosen sites popping up and taking the item and doing what all with it.

Having joined the sites via this handy dandy add on, I hadn't a clue what they looked like, what their purpose was beyond marketing my writing.

Two years later, I was 'warned' about Reddit, which was one of my bookmarking sites. I was told, by another writer, that I had to avoid being thought of as a 'self-spammer',

I was told to post a cute puppy picture I found somewhere on the 'Net, then, about an hour later, my work, then another hour later, a joke.

I should skip the next day, and repeat the process again on day three.

This was too much like work.

Having been on Reddit for Two Years I had no inkling of its nature.

I logged onto to Reddit as if it was a 'real' site. and looked around. I noticed a 'red' envelope.
I clicked on it.

People had written to me, made comments under my posts, and the dates of the remarks went from two years to yesterday.

Uh huh?

Two years ago, some moron attacked some article I wrote. And he and his duals or other trolls had continued...for two years.

I don't know about you, but when I read an artice, if I like it I read to the end, thumbs up, maybe leave a comment, and go on.

If I don't like it, I stop reading...could be the second sentence, and go away. This may be because I actually have a life.

I leave my room, I interact with wet ware, and sometimes, I might not even get on the Internet for a WHOLE DAY!!!!!!

In fact, (and I hope I don't get into trouble for this) I was OFF THE INTERNET for almost Two Months.

What can I say. I have a life.

People on Reddit do not have lives. They are there and nothing is posted that they don't vet. This is their purpose in life. This is their life.

Since I am kind of a Troll Baiter, I posted Sigmund Freud's early psychological 'test'.
This was a simple and rather enjoyable story in which you fill in the blanks and certain deductions are made.

After posting on the various sites, I quickly went to Reddit to see withat the Trolls had to say about it, oh, by the way, I never mentioned the name of the person who originated the test.

There were a lot of attacks, one genius claiming,
"I don't know what kind of psychology this is as I have studied psychology".
Subsequently I informed the Repulsion of Trolls that this was Freud's test.

This is just to show you that on Reddit, it is attack for Attack sake.

Then there's the other 'trick' in which you are told that' "You've posted too many Reddits recently, check back in...."

You can get this wrning, even if you haven't been on the Internet for nearly two months

This is a one of a kind site.
It Pays you for bookmarking.
You read right.

You post your link, you get paid.

"RedGage helps you make money
for what you're already doing online
and by building traffic to your content
on RedGage you can maximize your earnings."

That is what it says on the site.

You join, you 'self-spam' and what?
People read your work. And you get a few pennies.

I have about $19.21 today.

There's a little community there, people leave comments, make friends, etc. However, the key point is that it is okay to self spam. It is okay to link to your site.

There are contests every day, although I never really entered or joined....(did I mention I have a life?) but here's the facts...

You join, you link your work, you get hits. Not Trolls, not insults, not down votes, not stress, but hits. And you get paid for them.

Thanks for the heads up on this one. I will leave reddit to the Wolves, but will try Redgage as I too haven't done much backlinking.

Why Reddit survives is that 'suddenly' something you posted gets 400 hits out of the blue...and it makes you think the site has some use. But that happens once every 10 years.

I link on Redgage, I don't put up a document, I put up a link and do get some interest. Getting anything from a networking site is a gift.

As many of you have said, you Will be thumbs down and get minus hits so will be on their last page.

Well, I hardly get any direct traffic from redgage at all - but I don't post there for direct traffic, all I do there is share links to hubs, or things I write on other sites.

Redgage links are "dofollow" backlinks - which strengthen your standings with Google, and other search engines.

I'm told that reddit links are "dofollow" as well.....but I get HUGE traffic from reddit when I post there.

After a while though - the moderators blacklist your account....and sharing at reddit becomes a pointless thing - and they will blacklist you no matter how often you submit other things, or try to be a part of their troll community.

It's the most hate filled place on the net, reddit.

You'll know when you've been black listed - as it will be obvious. Just start another account, and share your newest stuff until they get around to blacklisting you again.

      Hi Wesman,

I have had that issue on Reddit 'you have published too much come back later' and I hadn't been there for days.

I am on redgage but haven't got much up there yet and I have made 3 cents?

The problem (correct me if I am wrong) is that whatever you post there becomes their property?

There is not much in terms of a community as you point out.

Thanks for a great hub, I had no idea there were so many of these things out there. Jez you could spent hours just posting to this lot.

Life is better spent living, as you quite rightly stated above. Well done. voted up.

Thanks for this comparison of Reddit and Regage. I haven't done much backlinking or bookmarking but would like to start, and this hub lets me know not to waste my time with Reddit. Rated up and useful.

I LOVE that you shared this on reddit!

      I've not logged in months.

Yes...they are a troll kingdom of self righteous idiots who basically hate anyone that writes on the web, and is "arrogant" enough to link in their under the bridge troll kingdom.

But guess what? Every single day I'm surprised by how many page views I get from reddit.

      Here's my secret:

No matter what - they will, given some time, bury you to where nobody but nobody will ever see your links.

      Haters gonna hate!

Screw those cave trolls! Just create another account - and do it all over again until they catch on again, rinse, repeat - endless reddit page views.
