Secrets To Hubbing Success

Updated on February 8, 2015

Write About Your Passion

It is not easy to begin writing projects, but it helps to be passionate about something and have a knowledge base to start from. When I create a successful Hub it is almost always about my passion. I have an extensive knowledge and understanding about the subjects and I am up to date on current research. Typically I am an active participant through employment, education or leisure time involvement.

Writing out of my passion is more exciting for the reader because I put myself in the writing and readers feel my excitement.

The best advice I have been given throughout the years is to:

"Follow Your Passion."

Research Your Project

I rarely write without taking time to research my topic. Research gives me depth of understanding and researchers often approach a subject from different angles allowing me to hone my own opinion. Additionally, I often come across information that will add significance to my project, a new idea or approach to an old subject.

I find it important to use reliable sources for my research, it is easy to get caught up in media hype of any kind, so find good sources. I often start with Google Scalor and then progress to a University Library or industry research peridocal.

Make an Outline

I begin with an outline, an outline helps me structure my thoughts and organize my Hub. When I have an idea I start with the title, I create a title for my Hub and begin building using text boxes with the topics I want to discuss. The screen shot to the right shows my outline for this Hub. I can add and delete boxes, add pictures and videos as well. The Hub Space Technical folks make this very easy......

Thanks Guys!!!

I throw all my ideas out on the table, sort of like what is called "The popcorn process." As an idea comes to me I put it in the Hub and walk away. I will revisit my ideas as I am inspired, this is when I find my best writing........For example this Hub has been in the works for over a week.

Hub Pages And You

Why Do You Hub: What Is Your Goal?

It's Not The Steak It's The Sizzle

Create Visual Appeal

Its Not The Steak, It's The Sizzle !!!!!!!!

Many years ago A B-School marketing professor used this axiom when explaining effective advertising campaigns. After spending over a decade in the restaurant and hospitality business the phrase rings clear to me.

Where you can, you must appeal to all the sences of the person you are tyring to reach. I think about it this way, If a customer smells the Char Broiled un mistakable aroma of the lushious T-Bone steak from outside the restaurant, then hears the pop and crackle as the steak SIZZLES as a server walks by, as he/she is seated another suculant steak appears bearing fresh branded grill marks, he/she has experienced the steak before he/she places his/her order.

What do you think he/she will order? A STEAK!!!!

Creating excitement within your Hubs will make people want to read them and experience them! It is the Idea, the excitement or the prestiege of the product that drives people to buy the product.

Use Search Rich Words

It is about driving people to my page! Search Engine Optomization through the use of key words in your writing that have high search value. What words to people use when searching for my information? I use Google Webmaster Tools for my websites and Hubs. My account has many useful tools including AdWords a section that helps analyze words for search value. This is a great tool for building new pages or tweeking older pages to improve traffic.

I have increased my page views by over 100% over the past weeks by simply choosing high value search words and writing with those words in mind.

Link Up

Create links using the suggested Link tab on the Hubpages control panel, link to informational sites that support your writing, link to other Hubbers and bookmark at social websites.

I am not the expert on linking, so my strategy is to write the Hub and then consider the ways I can link with other sources. Often I will challenge myself to try a new technique by learning the methodology used to create the link. I look at Hub building is a dynamic ever changing learning process.

Treat It Like a business

Invest time into your Hubs!

Businesses take time to develop, most are not immediate successes. If you goal is to make some money, be realistic about your expectations. The law of numbers applies to the business of Hubbing, The more quality hubs you create combined with the traffic you drive to the pages will improve your income potential.

Keep learning, improving and driving traffic to your Hub Pages.

Share Hubs You Like With Your Followers

Share other Hubs wirth your followers. I learned about this from CyberShelly who shared it with me, sharing increases traffic and revenue for your page.

Use the button on the right side of the Hub Page: Like This Hub?.....Hub Page followers to share

What Is Success For You?

You define your own success! Success is about meeting expectations or accomplishing a goal. Your goal may be to become a better writer, to make some extra money or to create social interactions. Whatever it is, measure your own performance by that standard.

I like the information you have provided in this hub. It is hard initially to see how you will get followers and views but if you keep at it and are persistent- the goal is easily attainable. I'm going to share this with my followers as well.

Informative hub! I especially like the part about SEO and key words, which is something I have not paid much attention to, so far. Good advice!

I agree about following your passion. Anything else will sap your motivation - and you'll quit when things get tough and you find out that you won't get rich quick!
