Should You Write On Hubpages?

Updated on June 7, 2013

How am I Qualified to Answer This?

I have written on Hubpages for over a year now. Looking back it seems like an eternity since I wrote my first hub ( which happens to be one of my most popular ones to this day). I wrote that first hub almost a year and a half ago and I am still here writing. Granted, I could have been a bit better at staying on top of my writing, but I am here and I think I have a good outlook how hubpages works and if you should commit to writing on this website. I have written 31 hubs and read many, many more than that. I have also met some very fun interesting people during this last year and a half that have taken time to show me the ropes and help me in any way they can. I would't be here today writing this if it wasn't for them.

Hubpages and You

How do you know if you should write on hubpages? Well there isn't really a test or an application to be a writer on the site all you have to do is sign up and start writing. So hubpages my be for you if you like to write. It may still be for you even if you are not the best writer and you are not Stephen King. Do you have a hobby or passion you like to share with people? Well, you can share it on hubpages. Not only will it go out into the virtual world for anyone with an internet connection to view it but the wonderful community of hubpages loves to read any and all articles published. So you can share your love of collecting shoe laces or your amazing ability of paper stacking and someone will love to read what you have written. You may just find a new best pal who shares the same passions as yourself. So you might want to join if you like to write or if you have a hobby to share you can also do videos! yep, that is correct you can make videos and put them on the site. So there is three great reasons why you and hubpages may be a good fit.

I'm Just Here for the Money.

I know many people hear that one can make money by writing on hubpages. This is true and not true. When most people think of making money online the usual image that pops into their heads it kicking back on the couch in their footy pj's tapping away on their laptop while sipping coffee for about an hour a day and then looking at the earnings tab and seeing a four digit number. This couldn't be further from the truth, sure some people do make that kind of dough on hubpages, but that is the exception not the rule. The fact is most people make enough to use for beer money or maybe to pay their phone bill each month. I know this may seem like a bit of a bummer for many, but when you think about it you can be making a few extra bucks doing something you really enjoy. My advice don't expect to be able to quit your day job, but know you can make a little extra jingle writing for hubpages.

I have been making hubs for a couple of months now, and I must say I haven't regretted my decision. I quite enjoy hubpages, and like coming on here everyday. It doesn't feel like a chore, but some I find fun :)

Congrats on your first year. Love the article, because it is so true. It takes time and effort to do freelance writing, period, and I think that when a person says that they are making $1,000 a month on Hubpages, they are exaggerating. I made my first $50 last year after writing for over a year. I am still waiting on the second $50, lol.
