Prologue

Some of today's sexiest writers are right here on HubPages.

No, I'm not talking about nubile bodies scantily clad on sandy beaches.

What I'm suggesting instead is an alternative perspective that embraces people of all shapes and sizes and from every walk of life.

A beautiful mind is the most significant sex organ that a human being possesses.

With that as a premise, here is your invitation to consider the various aspects of the innovative writing we encounter on HubPages that showcase some of the world's sexiest people.

Sexy Writers are Attentive

One of the most attentive writers I have encountered here on HubPages happens to be a fellow resident of The Evergreen State. It's not his locale, however, but rather his superb attentiveness that makes him a very sexy writer. His HP name is billybuc.

In his writing of each and every article, billybuc strictly adheres to the lesson he repeatedly passes on to his proteges--the 10 second rule--except he's harder on himself, cutting the required time with which he is self-mandated to capture a reader's interest in half. How does he do this? By having done his homework hours, days, weeks, months, and--yes--sometimes even years before the article in question was ever written.

This writer pays attention to his environment. He does a tremendous amount of research. He is well-read, avidly devouring classic literature, contemporary novels, instructional writing and inspirational books, as well as the scores of hubs written by peers.

He is attentive to detail. He is attentive to his writing regimen. He is attentive to his targeted audience. He is attentive to the significance of empathy, compassion, and love as driving forces for memorable writing. Like a veteran major league pitcher, he is attentive to his own as well as others' weaknesses and strengths and is thus able to paint the corners with his prolific writing, throwing strikes every time he delivers.

Finally, he is attentive to his fans. He may have thousands of people commenting on his daily hubs each week, but he makes it a point to attentively respond to each and every message.

Key to connecting with another human being is this concept of attentiveness. billybuc is very attentive. billybuc is an engagingly sexy writer.

Sexy Writers are Passionate

One of my favorite Hub niches is eBay. Often, I will invite my readers--whether veterans, newbies, or those who have yet to take their shoes off and go wading in the eBay waters--for questions and comments about selling on this global marketplace.

From the west coast of Florida, just about as far away on the contiguous USA that one can get from where I live in the Pacific Northwest, comes the passionate response to my RSVP in the form of Radcliff, the HubPages persona of Liz Davis.

Radcliff inspires me with her enthusiastic inquiries and feedback about eBay. In similar fashion, she wields this hurricane energy in her writing, leaving her readers feeling pumped and eager to tackle life head-on!

Imagine, if you will, HubPages personified as a dowdy professor, one who's been teaching his craft for several decades. When you teach the same thing day in and day out, year after year, the very thing you once were crazy about now finds you stiff, boring, and unenthused. Staying with this analogy, think of that one student who enrolls in the class and turns it upside down because she's unconcerned with social convention and isn't intimidated by anyone's distinguished bearing. She'd just as soon kick deference to the curb and confront the awkward silence by stating the obvious: There's a freakin' white elephant in the room!

Radcliff will do that. She's so passionate about life, about her loved ones, about her writing, that she's got neither the patience nor the time to waste putting a Band-Aid on your owie. Your views going down? Quit whining, and write better! Not making enough money on HP and thinking about going somewhere else? Bye, I'll miss you...NOT!

Survival of the fittest is a reality. It's especially true in the field of writing. If you persevere and gut it out, Radcliff will be your staunchest ally. Why? Because she's passionate about passion itself. She instinctively knows who has it. Passion is her literary pheromone, and she gives and receives in equal measure. It's a principal reason why Radcliff is a bodaciously sexy writer.

Sexy Writers are Confident

Arun Kanti Chatterjee employs the first two-thirds of his name for his HubPages handle. I daresay before too long, Arun Kanti will be a familiar name on the HubPages circuit. In the short seven months that he has been a member of this esteemed literary community, he has definitely made a positive difference.

HubPages was created by an American brain trust of gifted writers, but its real success is due in large part to its global reach.

As an American, I am very proud of my country and, in a soft-spoken yet effective manner, I have patriotically advocated its merits.

As an impressionist writer, however, I am not blind to this country's faults. I don't belong to that inner circle of ethnocentric people who arrogantly point an accusing finger towards the other side of the globe and say, "That's where evil exists." America the Beautiful rises above that asinine way of thinking. My version of My Country 'Tis of Thee embraces all races and all cultures as the family of man.

To that end, I want to build bridges between the gifted writers of the world.

Which is precisely why I chose Arun Kanti to exemplify the mark of a confident writer.

A relative newbie to the world of writing, never mind an exciting opportunity to write for HubPages, Arun Kanti--full of insecurities, no doubt--still had unbridled confidence in The American Dream and decided to take a chance. We who are gifted with his excellent personal essays are the blessed recipients of his fated and timely choice.

Friends, I am no prognosticator, but I will go out on a limb to say that if we follow this writer's progression over time, we are in store for some epic reads. (Think Kipling! Think Conrad!)

His very first hub, entitled Sona Uncle and the Charm of Real India, quickly gleaned over 1000 views, an amazing statistic for an international contributor.

Arun Kanti is a humble man. From that gentle and unassuming origin have been birthed the world's most memorable literary creations.

Daily, we see the metamorphosis. Arun Kanti is more positive. Arun Kanti is more self-assured. Arun Kanit is a more confidently sexy writer.

Sexy Writers Love to Experiment

I'm not proud to admit this, but I have contributed to the juvenile regression of a fellow HubPages writer. Her name is Heather May, and after our joint wacky eBay roadside venture, she may have gone incognito. Even so, for the sake of this article, she deserves special props for being a great sport. Ladies and gentlemen of the literary arena, I'd like you to meet a very talented writer (her association with moi notwithstanding)--mommymay.

Keeping in mind that it's Hawaiian Odysseus and not Hawaiian Oedipus, my fascination with mommymay is based on her willingness, iron resolve, and flexibility in tackling any silly subject head-on! And if that's not enough--much to the chagrin of her bewildered hubby, a man identifiable even in a crowd by his propensity for shaking his head a lot--this real life mother of five youngsters will audaciously write about it.

My Cal Poly Dad cap's off--but tightly clenched to my chest because the last thing I want is to see it in mommymay's eBay store--to this determined and energetic woman who effectively manages a successful home business, sells part-time on eBay, is an accomplished writer on HubPages and elsewhere, and juggles all of this while being a full-time wife and mom.

Quirkiness and kookiness have their rightful places on this woman's road to success. To that end, mommymay is a brilliant whack job. She also happens to be an experimentally sexy writer.

Sexy Writers Take Chances

His name is Jim Higgins, and we know and love him in our literary community as xstatic.

A lovely walk through his garden of delightful hubs soon reveals a senior gentleman who revels in exploring new and unique pursuits in the glorious autumn of his life. While casually touching upon minimal anxiety prior to and during his adventurous pursuits, his readers are soon ensconced in his mature and calm approach to novel situations.

Young and old alike certainly appreciate the bucket list approach to living meaningfully. Reading xstatic's hubs is parallel to attending a black and white movie whose only color is provided by the deeply resonant voice-over of its narrator. Yes, in case you were wondering, xstatic's been there and done that!

xstatic's penchant for taking chances has netted him a role as a small town lawman, Sheriff Dan, in a short film soon to be released entitled, Never Gonna Break. At the time of this writing, xstatic just discovered that he was awarded the role of a doctor in an upcoming feature length movie.

Taking healthy risks is a universally attractive quality. It's definitely a characteristic that makes xstatic a daredevilish sexy writer.

Halftime Intermission Song in Keeping With Our Theme Today

Sexy Writers Love to Have Fun

Flying high might very well be an integral part of her profession, but in her love affair with writing, CrisSp is oxymoronically well grounded in airy pursuits.

Reading her beautiful portfolio of prose and poetry is akin to walking on the clouds. CrisSp holds your hand and guides you among the pillowed formations of cumulonimbus, playing hide and seek among the heavenly sheared wool. She is so young at heart that you pause in your play with her as you ponder, Maybe I should ID her?

And then you remind yourself that this is just a daydream. (And, if you're male, you get to exhale at this point. I always do.)

That's the nature of CrisSp's writing. On the back burner, you remind yourself that she diligently crafts her creative endeavors inflight, sometimes at altitudes above the 8-mile mark, as well as during her off hours, back on terra firma. But you never know the specific altitude of each hub because every one of them is written with an ethereal voice.

Plainly speaking, CrisSp loves to have fun. And it is that quality that entitles her to be dubbed a celestially sexy writer.

Sexy Writers are Unpredictable

Changeable, like a chameleon. Animated, like a nostalgic Saturday morning cartoon. Somewhat erratic, like a lightning bolt. Quick-witted, like a cross between Robin Williams and Robert Downey, Jr. Lively, like a macaque on ten shots of espresso.

I've just defined one of the most brilliant and refreshingly mercurial (Ah, yes! That's the word I was looking for!) up and coming writers rascally peeking over the HubPages horizon.

Friends, meet Alex Muncaksy, aka mercuryservices, currently living large and raising hell in 5-0 Paradise.

Reading this writer's work, you'll soon find that his style and voice are a radical departure from the trademarks of writers you're accustomed to on HubPages. How can I best describe it? Here's an attempt. Remember the first time you ever watched a mixed martial arts fight? There's this conventional side of you that says: Shoot, this isn't boxing. It's a brawl! But then there's this other side of you--a primal throwback to the memory of that first punch that ever landed on your face--that compels you to keep watching...and then, before you know it, you're hooked! And then you're squabbling with your better half as to why watching this makes better sense than suffering through another stinkin' episode of Dance Moms!

That's my best shot at describing someone who's very difficult to pin down because he's all over the radar screen. Which is precisely what sets him apart as unique, refreshing, and a captivating read! I challenge you to fit him neatly and nicely into a profiled box. I betcha you can't! But don't let me waste any more of your time. Go see for yourself!

mercuryservices is nonconformist. mercuryservices is off the charts. mercuryservices is an unpredictably sexy writer.

Sexy Writers are Young at Heart

In 1987, at the age of 35, I entered the 7.5 mile Bloomsday Run in Spokane, Washington. In a field of 51,000 runners, I was fortunately able to finish in the top 4% of the field. An event happened on my ascension to the top of a quarter-mile long hill that appeared to have a slope of roughly 30 - 40 degrees. I thought I had trained appropriately for this race, but I struggled immensely going up that hill. Just about the time I was ready to give up and start walking, a little old lady--probably somewhere in her late sixties--came zipping up the hill on my right, leaving me in the wake of her dust. Somehow, that was incentive enough to keep me going. And forever humbled about my running.

I'm reminded of that incident every time I indulge in the ethereal writing of Nellieanna Hay, a prolific and accomplished writer from The Lone Star State.

Have you read her wonderful work?

You really should, you know. Borrowing from Hollywood, Nellieanna is a cross between the talented grasp of Lauren Bacall and the quintessential beauty of Audrey Hepburn--oh, and with a bit of Bette Davis' flirtatious sassiness thrown in.

The stylish flair with which she weaves her Hub web--because, once attached, it's hard to break away--leaves one wondering, surely, someone much younger is writing this and using their beloved and beautiful grandmother's picture for a profile photo.

Such is the nature of Nellieanna's youthful writing. It dashes all notions that talented writing is reserved only for the young and middle-aged. It is the greatest assurance to--and I use this term with only the utmost respect and deference--the geriatric population at large that the dreaded adversaries of senility and Alzheimer's need not rule the long shadows of the afternoon! I express this from the very core of my being, having married into a family where two prior generations of women have suffered and died in the cruel clutches of Alzheimer's and where a certain dread casts its weight over my marriage.

God bless Nellieanna. She gives me hope that transcends and lingers long after the written page is absorbed. She is proof here on earth that mankind has only begun to scratch the surface of the tremendous literary oil fields that yet lie untapped in the bosoms of our elders.

In Texas, Nellieanna's geyser has erupted, her black gold perpetually and eloquently flowing. Nellieanna is ageless. Nellieanna is timeless. Nellieanna is an endlessly sexy writer.

Sexy Writers Have Endurance

Some travel writers, as I've recently learned from a prestigious writer peer, pen their articles from the comfort of their office and by having done voluminous research.

Such is not the case with Bill De Giulio, aka bdegiulio, whose forte on HubPages happens to be the travel niche.

Bill's last name is a great clue as to his favorite points of destination--the cities of Italia! With each hub that he writes about Rome, Sicily, Venice, and other classic Mediterranean locales, bdegiulio's innate knack for ever being the gracious and hospitable tour guide as well as the magnificent images that complement his articles leave us breathtakingly cognizant that we have just experienced--firsthand--the trip of a lifetime.

Close cousins to the travel niche are bdegiulio's inclusion of birds of prey and running as topics he loves to write about.

Majestic avians suggest associated thoughts about flight, endangered species, and--generally--empathetic reflections that move us, hopefully, to other-centered behavior as we realize that our feathered or furry cohabitants have as much right to be here on Mother Earth as we do.

In a very humble and low key way, bdegiulio also shares with us his love for running. He is on the north side of half a century but has the heart of a youngster--literally and figuratively--because he not only is in great shape but also offers helpful advice about running. For example, in one of his hubs, bdegiulio presented older runners with a proven schedule for training to run...or at least finish...a 5K race in five weeks.

Weaving this all together, we have in bdegiulio a writer who has a refreshingly well-grounded approach to life. His writer's voice is that of Everyman in discovery of things, places, and people outside of himself. This talented and hard-working writer has a genuine love for life, family, and this grand old spinning marble called Earth. bdegiulio is in this for the long run. bdegiulio is committed to going the distance. bdegiulio is an enduringly sexy writer.

Sexy Writers Leave You Wanting More

Ever finish reading a hub only to regret that it ended? You come away from the experience having gained something warm and exhilarating, and yet you are left with this lingering sense of: I definitely want to read more of this person's writing!

The eclectic articles and videos of Simone (Haruko) Smith have that effect on a lot of people.

Several months ago, I came across one of her videos on YouTube and was simply mesmerized by her quirky yet brilliant sense of humor and delivery.

Later, I discovered that Simone was actually a writer on HubPages. And if that weren't enough, she also happened to be a staff member for this esteemed literary site, serving as Community and Marketing Manager.

Recently, I had the honor of being interviewed one week by tillsontitan and then the pleasure of interviewing Karen Hellier the following week for the HubPages Weekly. During both endeavors, I received encouraging email messages from Simone and was very impressed with her proactive and personable communication.

One has to wonder how Ms. Smith finds the time and energy to write, create videos, administrate, and communicate to a degree par excellence.

The answer is obvious.

Simone Smith is attentive. She's passionate. She's confident. She loves to experiment. She takes chances. She loves to have fun. She's unpredictable. She's young at heart. She has endurance.

And there's one more thing.

Recently, Simone Smith announced that she will soon be leaving HubPages. She will be launching her own business--a training center for online careers called Gigaverse that is projected to kick off this summer.

We will definitely miss Simone Haruko Smith and wish her the very best in her new venture. Her departure from HubPages underscores a final point. Simone Smith leaves us wanting more, and that's what makes her an incredibly sexy writer.

    Hi, Natasha!

I love your adventurous spirit! There are two principal 'falls on Kaua'i--Wailua and Opaekaa...easily viewed from lookout points, but also accessible by trail. There are many other gorgeous scenic sights, of course. Yeah, you'd have a marvelous time there with lots of places to memorialize with photos.

Regarding my literary references, if I wasn't reading comic books as a little boy, I was blazing hiking trails through the challenging classics. Wow! You're a great example of the adage (that I just coined):

You can't tell a book nerd by its cover!

You're amazing, Natasha! Thanks for stopping by!

This was entertaining! For some reason the part where you pointed out that it's 'Odysseus' not "Oedipus" really amused me. I guess I'm not used to random literary references online like that and, as a book nerd, I appreciated it!

I have to admit, though, that what really caught my eye was your lead photo. I really want to get to Kaua'i at some point this summer, but I don't know if it will happen. My Navyman has to get permission to leave Oahu, even on his days off. Of course, he isn't here yet, so I could always go myself... =)

I don't know how I got that rating, WND, but what I DO know for sure is that I don't deserve it...not the way I feel about the SEO concept. But I do believe in reading others' hubs, promoting great writers and receiving a blessing from that, and my right to write from the heart.

Plus HP itself, the very staff who created the HubScore, pooh-poohs the importance of it. So I just keep doing my thing.

The score that really matters to me? How well am I doing in connecting with others?

I'm always grateful that I connected and continue to connect with YOU, my friend! Have a great evening, and I'll see you soon in the form of a hub.

Ah, my friend, you have me pegged to a T! Guilty as charged and on all counts! I like your perceptiveness and quicksilver mind, Alex. Plus, I respect what you said about striking a happy medium. Truth is, I DO want to earn money for my hard work. I just gotta take my Pacific Islander/Pacific Northwest schtick to a new level. This second year on HP may find me focusing on that balance.

Personal narratives, personal essays, or whatever one wishes to call them, are my strengths. God forbid, I earnestly don't want to come across like a swellheaded kanaka...a lot of it is done for humor...look past some of that, and you can easily spot the self-deprecating intent. Even at my age, I still have some of that anti-authoritarian rage, and that's part and parcel of why I promote other writers...because I resent that only the same HP favorites get featured or awarded. Kinda like the way East Coast sportswriters overlook the West Coast teams. Perhaps I should tone some of this stuff down...then again, on second thought, NOT!

I love that you keep things real. It's refreshing! I wish you all the best, Alex, and I look forward to running into you someday. Aloha, and have a terrific weekend, brah!

I'm also involved in answering email messages from fellow writers and eBayers. I'm so thankful that the technology exists where we can communicate instantly. I am often perplexed as to how to budget my time so that I'm actually doing some writing. I love connecting with others so much, and I see that you have a similar bent. Joe, you'll need some third party software to get your cam going. If your cam is the plug-in kind, you probably have a CD or something that came with it that has the software you need otherwise you can download it from the manufacture's site. If it's built in, you might have some software lurking there already, or you can download a third party camera from somewhere. Lately I've been making Animoto videos because it lets you quickly and easily make videos out of stills or short clips without having to mess around with a camera.

As far as the flipping selfishness around thing goes, you've got it down. I think I've learned from you that it's okay to be a little selfish and even show off a little, in fact it's actually better because sucking all of yourself out of a piece of writing leaves it kind of dry and clinical. It's possible to put yourself into it, as you have shown, without coming across like... heyyyyyy look at me guyz! As far as kissing Google's giant butt goes, I think it's possible to strike a happy medium there too. Washington state is known for being a place where people value the ethos of: do what you do because you love it. (Weirdly, the other Washington is on the other coast and is the exact opposite. Everyone competes to see who can sell out the MOST! Hey at least we're the murder capital though, woop woop, represent!) Some of my favorite bands are from your area; they embody that aesthetic and have always managed to walk the line between making radio-friendly music while also making good music. I think it's possible to do the same on HubPages, make cool hubs that writers would like while also hitting the right Google keywords, etc. It's also kind of funny to subvert an "exclusive" hub, make it a little wacky, and bend it juuuust enough so that HP will still publish it... heh heh heh

    Hey, Paula!

Are you kidding me? You're one of the hottest women in the community! As I was sharing with another friend earlier, had I been given the luxury of a novel's word count, I would have had several additional chapters! LOL! I'm smiling along with you. A good mind will always be irresistible to me, and here on HP, we've encountered some of the very best.

Speaking of the dance floor, I just wanted to share with you something from my past...something my father had taught me because a brother of his had done the very same thing when he was in high school. I was really insecure, shy, and was absolutely certain I was the ugliest kid in school. So when the dances and socials came around, instead of walking the entire width of the high school gym and facing rejections from the prettiest and most popular girls in the school, I made it a point to ask the girls that weren't being asked by the other guys to dance. And I also was determined to have good conversations with them, especially during the slow dances.

Years later, I discovered an interesting phenomenon. Whenever I had a rare opportunity to go back home, I would encounter some of these "wallflowers." Wow, let me tell you, the ones that I saw, anyway, had blossomed into beautiful women. And it was more than just physical beauty--way more than that. It was that something special...and it taught me then to look farther and deeper into the beautiful, long lashed eyes of life to revel in the discovery that there is a more permanent and ethereal beauty in connecting minds with another human being.

    Aloha, my friend!

    Hi, Suzie HQ!

It's about 9:30 in Dublin as I write these words--at least, that's my best estimate. Thank you so very much for dropping by. Did you remember to bring some Irish Coffee with you? Ha-ha! These men and women have brilliant minds and, per the definition, certainly fit the bill. I am honored to promote them because each of them, in their own unique voice and style, have brought me (and so many others, I'm gathering) such wonderful reading pleasure. Every now and then, I love reading the classic writers, but when you think about it, Suzie, one doesn't have to walk too far in our HP community before encountering our own "local" greats! You're certainly one of them, and had I the luxury of a book length word count, you would have been an entire chapter! Thanks again for the visit, and I'll see you when I'm chasing the next rascal leprechaun! Aloha, my friend!

DRAT!! Once again, I am reminded I have lost all sex-appeal, that ever was or was not, to begin with!........Alas, I must sit on the bench, with all the other wall flowers, just fluttering my long luscious black lashes and wringing my ever so talented & well-manicured hands......smiling a coquettish grin.....lips parted slightly.....dimples that scream, "Kiss me!" At least ask me to dance?!

Oh hell.......this is ridiculous....Anyone who knows me, has instantly doubled over with laughter. OK, OK.....I know.

It's cool, Mr. O.....You are as sexy as hell....Not only are you exotically handsome, but your genius is irresistible.

Do NOT comment back to tell me you are married. I am rightly entitled to my fantasies! Hugs to you.......that's as "sexy" as I get!

You honor me with the usage of those dear Hawaiian terms, my Indian brother! Thank you so much for your kind words. I have one of your latest hubs reserved for a careful second reading. This new niche you're doing with the review of other online writing sites is very interesting and a complement to your health and nutrition niche. On my recent trip to the Big Island of Hawai'i, I met a young female Indian doctor while hubbing in one of the lobbies at the Waikoloa Hilton. I was very impressed with the young lady, just as I've impressed with you, Arun Kanti, and a host of other brilliant and personable men and women from your country. The common denominator I've observed is a tremendous work ethic. What a blessing to have you as a friend and writer peer here on HubPages. Remember, whenever you decide to get started on eBay, whenever you need any help or just someone to shoot the breeze with regarding "shop talk," I am here for you! Aloha and have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

A great read about some outstanding writers on hubpages. Joe, you missed out one-the one and only one; HO-to me you are one fine writer who has a knack for illustrative writing. One does not need pictures in your writings to see what you are writing about; merely reading you makes my mind flutter with an array of images that complement your descriptions to a T.

Well done, my friend. I need to delve into the hubs of quite a few of these sexy writers. Time permitting I will.

Mahalo, for sharing this fine list among the community here and enriching it.

    Aloha.

    Hi, Alex!

God knew man couldn't be altruistic on his own, so He gave man the "Cast your bread upon the water..." routine. If you do this...then this will follow. Borrowing from that premise, and not the kind of person to kiss Google's giant butt, I figured the best I could do here on HP was be a blessing to others. It comes back to me tenfold, my friend! I am really sensitive to impressions; I trust my heart. When someone's writing makes me go: "Man! That's exactly how I'm feeling!" or "Wow! I wish I had said that!" or "How the hell did she know that about me?" as you can see by the pronouns, it's pretty self-centered stuff. But then the magic happens, and I am motivated to find a creative way to say thank you to that person. And that's how my "promoting others" hubs get started. Pretty selfish, yeah? But that's the truth. If the end result is that a lot of people are happy, who am I to rain on the luau? Hawaiians have historically been fierce and savage warriors...but like any indigenous people, they'd rather laugh and make love than go to war. Part of what I want to bring to HubPages, Alex, is this basic truth: Yes, I'd love it if this meant multiple streams of revenue...but not at the cost of turning me into something I'm not. I'm NOT a high tech SEO kind of guy--I could care less. What I want to do is "talk story," you know, like being on the porch of a plantation labor camp house, with the green paint peeling and the corrugated iron roof rusting from the salt water spray, having good fun and eating ono island food. Hey, brah, pass the Spam musubi! Mahalo! That's my vibe! I like your style because you're exactly who you were supposed to be, and that balance and alignment makes you a powerful writer, even without the mask and cape! Okay, so now I have a question for you. I have a webcam. I want to make videos. What else do I need? Is the software already present in the computer? I have Windows, if that helps. Thanks, Alex, and--yes--you and billybuc and a female Hubber I met last night inspired me with your great use of videos in your hubs. It's definitely a party I want to go to. Plenny mahaloz, brah!

Joe, thanks for confirming what I already suspected! You were introducing a cast of super-powered writers, and your Stan Lee inspired narration was the captioning in the box above the panels. I think one of the reasons why I was so fascinated by mythology and archetypes in college was because I was a comic book fan growing up. My favorites were those Stan Lee creations, many of which are now huge, blockbuster movie franchises.

By the way, what an interesting and rare Lover/Caregiver archetypal combo you've got going on here. Normally the Lover tries to direct attention at him or herself but here you're spotlighting other people, Caregiver style. One approach balances the other, making for a potent storytelling super serum. Rock on!

Hi, grandmapearl! (Do you prefer Pearl? or Connie?)

Yes, I remember the frustration of party lines...and either the temptation to eavesdrop or the paranoia of wondering if someone was listening to one's phone call. Every once in a while, I'd hear Mom saying, "Yeah, I think someone else is on the line!" followed by, "Yep, I just heard the click! They're off!" Ha-ha! Party lines definitely have a more positive spin here on HubPages, and if I can be a party for social connection, I'm honored and privileged to do my share. Even in this socially promoted and conscious literary community, we could feasibly go for months and years and never encounter writers whom we would otherwise be blessed by and/or be a blessing to. That's why I love and enjoy promoting hard-working and committed writers. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your gracious thoughts with me today. Aloha!

Joe, Party lines were a fact of my childhood. My grandparents lived just down the rural road from us. They had a phone, and it was on a party line. It used to irk my grandma when she could not use the phone because someone was already on it! Ironically, it was usually her very talkative sister. She was also known as the community gossip, as was another neighbor on the other side of us! Yup--I remember party lines vividly.

But I think you are right on the mark when you suggest that party lines and circles are a great way to promote Hubpages Writers! Great idea, and very generous--just like you, my friend ;) Pearl

Truly, I believe in my definition of sexy and where once my head turned at the presence of physical appeal, my increased understanding of the incredible gifts of the mind pull me towards that which is universally far more compelling. From the reading of your beautiful comments and the empathy and maturity as a writer with which you grasp how one is able to intuitively perceive these attributes in others indicates to me that you yourself are a very sexy writer. Hi, Kathryn!

Of course, you are definitely on this list! I wanted to feature writers that I hadn't promoted before...the one exception, of course, being our good friend, billybuc. I'll pay tribute to him any old time because, frankly, the guy's superhuman to be able to crank out hub after hub, virtually 365 days out of the year...okay, so he took off a couple of weekends. Still, his output is phenomenal! So I "promo" him any chance I get. But back to you. I like you and your writing because you are so very genuine, down to earth, and yet give off this vibe that the "girl next door" might just be a super sleuth. : ) Thanks for always being a good sport and supporting my silly excursions off the beaten path. Now, it's time to get serious and prep for 30 days of Hub stress with Karen Hellier and the gang! I'm keeping my eye on the writer from India, ARUN KANTI...he keeps getting better and better. We in American have gotten used to "fast food" writing...ARUN is a throwback to an era when paragraphs were like a page long. I pick up different techniques and styles from different writers and incorporate them, not consciously, but via impressions (that word again). Have you seen the series, Hannibal, yet? Let me know if you have, please. When I saw it, it immediately hit me that the manner in which the protagonist "relives" the horrible crime, empathizing to such a degree that he becomes the murderer himself, is precisely the way I write...picking up these "clues" all over the immediate environment and fusing the pieces together into a laminated puzzle.

With Simone, it's my thespian background and the awareness and remembrance that actors have a very special fraternity going on backstage that the audience is never aware of. Simone's presentation and delivery are so very smooth and natural, and yet I feel her insecurities...precisely why I am so compelled to her writing and video presentation of her writing. She's brilliant that way! And so are you! And you already know what I think of bright minds! With that, I'll bid you a fond adieu! Happy and blessed to be a HubPages family member!

I really like your tribute to these HubPages writers, and I like that you ended with Simone. Since she is leaving, and starting her own online business, it's a great way to end this article.

Hi, Audrey! Thank you so much for your acknowledgment and gracious compliments regarding my writing. It's very true--like you, my friend, I love to write. Even more so, I love to connect. And even if the form of connection has to be from geographically afar, the real social, emotional, and spiritual bonding are what truly matter. By the way, just seconds before the preacher finished his talk and I was scheduled to sing, the rain started falling...I said a silent prayer and was ready for either outcome. As it turned out, the rain stopped--miraculously so because the dark cloud was still right over us--and I was able to sing after all. Used someone's portable radio/tape/CD player, asked God to help me remember the lyrics, and gave it my best shot. And He blessed the outcome. Thanks for your encouragement and support, Audrey! Howzit, brah? This quote from Nietzsche is absolutely spot on, my friend! Thank you so much for sharing it with me. I love the way you described my creativity as "flossing [my] own samurai word skills." Man, even in the comments you write, you're underscoring why you were a prime candidate for this aloha shout out! Thank you, Alex, for understanding the work that goes into a project like this and for really digging the soul of what I do. Back at you, my friend, loud and clear! But before I go, here's a little tidbit about my writing that I've never shared with anyone else. My greatest learning about how to put words together was from shelling out a couple of bucks each month when I was attending Kapa'a High School for copies of several Marvel Comic books--Spiderman, Daredevil, The Hulk, Thor, Fantastic Four, Dr. Strange, Iron Man, The Avengers, etc. These were the early days when Stan Lee wrote just about everything. I learned more about vocabulary, diction, dialogue, conflict, spelling, social skills, teenage angst (Peter Parker), geography, alter egos, and a whole lot more from reading these comic classics than I did from the sexy blonde English teacher, Miss Josephine Malecke. So all I'm doing at the age of 60, my friend, is puking all that verbiage back up on the HP stage and seeing what kolohe concoctions I can come up with. Having a lot of fun even when the pay isn't all that great. I keep hoping, though...Aloha, bruddah!

Well, well, well... the aloha master is at it again! Bringing the HubPages community together, unselfishly giving props to your favorite writers while at the same time flossing your own samurai word skills. Truly masterful writing... the work of a writer at the top of his game. To think that I was included in such a talented group... wow. That's flattering, to say the least. I think of this quote when I read your hubs, Joe:

"One thing is needful— To "give style" to one's character —

a great and rare art! It is practiced by those who survey all the

strengths and weaknesses of their nature and then fit them into

an artistic plan until every one of them appears as art and

reason and even weaknesses delight the eye. Here a large mass

of second nature has been added; there a piece of original

nature has been removed— both times through long practice and

daily work at it. Here the ugly that could not be removed is

concealed; there it has been reinterpreted and made sublime.

Much that is vague and resisted shaping has been saved and

exploited for distant views; it is meant to beckon toward the

far and immeasurable. In the end, when the work is finished,

it becomes evident how the constraint of a single taste governed

and formed everything large and small." - Nietzsche

    Write on, brotha!

In my generation, "Afternoon Delight" hit us by storm. So did a number called "Harden My Heart" by Quarterflash. Unfortunately, as was the case with several bands in the sixties and seventies, Starland Vocal Band was pretty much a one hit wonder and sadly sizzled away in the sunset. I mention at times that I'm an impressionist writer, and at the moment that I was struggling and worrying about the excessive word count, this song came to mind. I've learned to trust my instinct about these seemingly "off the wall" thoughts. Thankfully, the song turned out to be a cool way to break up an unusually lengthy Hub. I'm very thankful that you liked this hub, and I'm even happier to report that I wrote truthfully about the ten featured writers and how, from my perspective, they've been a blessing to the Hub community. I wanted an eclectic range of individuals. The order had no bearing with one exception--I wanted an alternating gender presentation. Things I remembered having read in the articles, poems, and essays (and seen in videos, in the cases of Bill and Simone)--stuck with me, and being an impressionist writer, I closed my eyes before writing each section and tapped on the keys until something meaningful took hold. Hopefully, when I write those shorter hubs for Karen's upcoming challenge, I'll be able to share some positive results with the Hub community. Thanks for reinforcing/reassuring me, buddy. I was concerned...worried, actually...that Google and/or HP would kick this hub to the curb because of the repeated usage of "sexy." It dawned on me at one point that we could build circles of writers and yet never meet so many thousands of other talented writers OR be able to help newbies who may not have any idea about how to get a hold of the rest of us. If each person did his or her part to help connect the dots, we could infest HubPages with millions of party lines (remember that term, my friend?). Aloha, and thanks again for stopping by.

    @Nancy C Moores

Thank you, Nancy, for your joyous reception of my work. Wish I could watch the progress of your painting at the open air market. Please do write a hub about it so we can share in that experience, even if from a long distance. I am very thankful to have made your acquaintance, and once I catch up with the hubs I didn't get to due to this recent writing challenge, I will be sure to see you at the next hub stop! : ) Aloha, my friend!

    @bdegiulio

I like your style, Bill! In a quiet manner, you've blown us away with the beautiful articles you've written, mostly about Italy, but also dealing with Florida (where our Hub friend and fellow featured writer, Radcliff, lives) and clear across the country to billybuc's and my neck of the woods, the glorious Pacific Northwest). This was my way to thank you for the joy you bring to the writer's canvas. Aloha, my friend, and have a blessed Memorial Day!

Joe, I am honored and humbled to appear on your list alongside some of my favorite writer's here on HP's. Thank you so much for including me here.

I think you know how I feel about your writing and believe me when I say, I have learned so much in the past 15 months from members such as yourself. Thank you again and have a great Memorial Day.

Wow, again, hahahahahaaaa wow I wanted to leave reading, but could not. You are definitely a sexy writer, too Joe. You definitely know how to keep a person's attention. I will hopefully benefit from this hub. Thanks so much for writing this one especially. I was in a rut, but you just pulled hmmmm would like to say yanked me out of it. I am definitely going to have more fun with my writing. If I can get over the word definitely. :~0 Do take care. I have to go paint for the open air market, putting some things out, and also going to attempt eBay again. WOW, again. Thanks Joe

I don't know what is more impressive, you, your writing, or your selection of great writers. Yes, Joe, it was a tad long but it had to be to make your

Points so well. Yes, we will all miss Simone, our Fearless Leader, but we wish her the very best in her new business.

    Voted up, useful, and interesting.

This is a great list and I must say I was not aware of all of them. Now I will go and check them out. Your title is a puller and not exactly what I was expecting. You provided something unexpected. I guess that makes you a sexy writer as well!

    Fabulous idea for a hub.

Here's something I never thought I'd say: I'm honored to be on your sexy writers list! Plus also, you made me sound much tougher than the wet noodle I am in real life. This is always appreciated. I'm looking forward to checking out these other amazing writers. Mahalo, my dear friend! Your kindness is overwhelming.

I've visited and read works by all of these authors, and I have to agree with you, they are very sexy! They have brains, wit, charm, humanity, and a gift with words.

After reading your article, I think you should have added yourself to your list. Very clever idea for a hub! Voting up and more!

    Hawaii,

I am quite sure you will sing splendidly for the Veteran's Memorial service. You shouldn't be nervous at all. However, just admitting it will help to make your performance great. That is a great song and I'm sure the attendants will love it.

Hey Joe. I have to run out but I'll be back to read this in detail. I love the title, can't imagine why I'd be here :) I'll be back this evening to give this a good read. Have a great day.

Great subject, Joe! I have to go read the work of some of those "sexy writers"!

I read several of Bill De Giulio hubs. His hubs make me dream of travelling in Italy.... maybe because I've been is some of those beautiful places myself; I know it feels good to be there.

And about being there, I love your picture at the top "Wailua Falls on the Garden Island of Kaua'i".... it looks just lovely and I am dreaming to go to Hawaii one day. It seems to be a beautiful place to visit.... and just to live!

And I like your sense of humour with a "half time intermission" :-)

Thanks for sharing your writing and your recommendations of other hubbers!

Well Joe, this is a Sunday morning surprise for certain! Reading through this list, headed by the esteemed Billybuc, I found a number of hubbers I read all the time and several that I have not yet encountered, but will look up on your enthusiastic recommendation.

Reading down a little farther, I found my own name and hubs mentioned. I am humbled to be included in such company and to be mentioned in such a complimentary way. Please go easy on that "autumn" of his life label though. It still feels like Springtime in my head and (mostly) in the body as well. Thanks so much Joe, for this great hub.

    Good morning buddy!

I'm proud to say I follow all but two of these fine writers and I will make that 100% soon. What a noble thing of you to do. I used to do this once a month when I first started out here on HP....got up to installment 25 and then stopped the series. I think it is mandatory that we give praise and appreciation to our fellow writers, and you have done well with this one, Grasshopper.

I am honored to be among the "sexy" writers. Thank you so much for giving of yourself to others to that they may be encouraged and motivated. It is a fine, fine thing you do in this community.

Wishing you well from rainy Olympia.

    Aloha,

Thank you, Devika! These writers are surely deserving of recognition for their good work. Simone will be missed. I wrote this with the intention of promoting the interests of all who are here on HubPages and thus chose the Hub Love sub-category. I will be content to write much shorter articles in the future. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Aloha!

    @wetnosedogs

Good morning! Thank you for your kind comments, my friend! This one took me a few days to put together. I'm going to be happy to settle for much shorter hubs next month when we do Karen's challenge. Yes, Simone will surely be missed, but at least her hubs will be available to read. On YouTube, she has the coolest video hubs...or one can view them on HP as well. Hope you and the dogs have a wonderful Memorial Day. I will be singing a contemporary version of "Amazing Grace" (as performed by Chris Tomlin) for a Veteran's Memorial service at a local cemetery tomorrow. Nervous about it, but it's for a good cause. Aloha, WND!

Looks like my work list for later on is to explore these awesome hubbers you mentioned. You always do a fantastic job in whatever you write about and your niche of introducing hubbers is one of them. Your opinion is always valued and I know my time will not be wasted in checking out more fantastic hubbers.

I surely am sorry to see Simone Smith leave Hubpages, but at least she can be visited on her new venture.

Off to work soon for a couple hours otherwise I would gladly be doing my hubber homework now.

    Thanks for your hard work.
