Somebody help the staff at HubPages Please

Updated on February 5, 2014

Next they will ban photos of foreign food product because it is offensive to eat unamerican food.

This stuff to me is just creepy. And it scares me to death. Because I have lived under communism and socialism where free speech meant free ignorance.

Forums are to express opinions that is what they are for. And if we leave them that way they will drive traffic.

Some folks just do not get life at all. They want to go to a boxing match and ban bleeding. They want to go to a honky tonk and ban raucous music, dirty dancing, liquor and fights. Some folks want to ban concussions in a sport where you intentionally run into each other at full speed. (pro football)

Some folks want to ban e-cigarettes because it looks bad. Some folks wanted to ban mixed marriages in a church I attended. Some folks want to ban all guns. Some folks want to move next to a chicken farm and ban chickens.

And here is a fun one: Some folks want to ban heated arguments in online forums. Really I am not kidding at all.

Can you imagine someone going on to a forum about religion or politics and demanding that discussions meet church social standards. So far all they do is gather as a group and get people who should be there banned because of strict adherence to standards of speech (which is totally unconstitutional because the Internet is public domain no matter who owns the site)

That is my country and it will remain a place of free speech.

I will not sit quietly while Mr. Horowitz complains bitterly about the content of speech causing a burning of the books he reads. Internet censoring just does not have the smoke and flame.

So the world beats on to those who stand for a difference and those who want conformity to their standards.

Take my word for it Google loves forums that are heated. Some writers go there to engage in order to drive traffic elsewhere based on outlandish statements or outlandish proof and most normally because of outlandish truths. Come on now the major media does not report two 50 year old's kissing the report car wrecks. You do not slow down on the freeway to look at a beautiful tree in the sunset, you slow and look at police and fire emergency lights. Get over it. Drama sells and sells big.

Christians do not strike out, but when they do it is news. Atheists need a new gig to make there arguments more sexy and if you cannot grab an audience writing in ten seconds you have lost them.

So who came up with this "advice":

Forum Etiquette

Let's Keep the HubPages Forums Fun and Friendly

In our recent Feedback Survey, some Hubbers mentioned feeling unwelcome and put off by the atmosphere of our Forums. We want the Forums to be a place where everyone feels welcome. We have such an amazing, helpful, supportive, and knowledgeable Community, and we want to facilitate open, friendly communication in a way that benefits everyone. With that in mind, I'd like to share a few tips on Forum etiquette that can help promote a positive environment:

  1. Kindness is king. Let the principle of kindness guide your words and you'll rarely go wrong. Remember that we're all Hubbers, and we're on the same team.
  2. Be positive. Criticism and honest feedback are great ways to help others improve, but don't focus on another Hubber's faults or be unnecessarily harsh.
  3. Disagree with respect. Naturally, there will be differences of opinion in the Forums. Keep your disagreements civil and on topic.

Follow the Forum Rules. Respecting the Forum Dos and Don'ts helps keep things running smoothly.

I go to church for that stuff I do not go to forums. Give it a rest. They even have place for "questions" which can be cute and recipe oriented and whatever. But I have been on the internet a lot longer and based on current financial and physical health will be here longer than HP. Knock it off with this ridiculous facade and appeasement of those who cannot tolerate real society.

Do you go to HP forums for "etiquette"?

If you do not like the forums do you just stay away
