HubPages 60 Day Challenge - My Good Results
Participation in various HubPages features is an effective and fun means to gain writing ideas and to promote your Hubs a little more (see How to Drive Traffic to Your Hub with Participation).
One fun feature is the 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge that is ongoing for all writers that are members of HubPages. A new twist is the encouragement of Hubbers themselves to come up with the challenges! We saw that in some great Hubbers previously, including sunforged's 60 Day Challenge. In that one, 30 days were spent researching and writing fresh, high demand content, and another 30 days were spent in group promotional activities. The months after this challenge were some of my most successful in terms of number of views and amount of income earned.
Hub Log, Supplemental
This is not Star Trek®, but we did keep logs in this Hub Challenge, listed below week-by-week.
This was an interesting experience that kept me engaged in the writing and publishing process on HubPages and taught me a bit about how to use social networking in promotion of Hubs. I tried many social networking sites and have used several more since this challenge ended, but I've found that the most effective for me are:
- LinkedIn, an employment and social site
I also found that by just joining a structured writing program like HP Challenges can almost automatically begin to help organize one's activities. You can save time and achieve more good results within the challenge.
"Employment and Training" Is a Major Interest
April 1, 2010
Goals? -- Isn't April Fool's Day a good day to start a project?-- It gives us perspective. I've been thinking about my HubPages contributions and would like to improve in the following aspects:
- Gain increased traffic from current and additional sources. Five or 6 sources cover most of my incoming traffic and I'd like to at least double that number.
- Increase Google AdSense income by 30%,
- Double Amazon and Ebay earnings. This revenue is low and needs to go up or out.
- Increase the quality, usefulness, and broadcasting of my Hubs to the world,
- Increase my understanding and effective use of social networking and bookmarking sites; look at RedGage and join.
- Provide additional and more effective promotion ideas for HubNuggets Wannabes and others that contact me for suggestions in this regard.
- Recruit additional Hubbers to the HubPages community.
- Support other 60 Day Challenge Hubbers in their efforts and link with their Hubs and social networking sites whenever possible.
April 2 & 3
Examined RedGage and joined. Gathered initial link-ups with several friends. Posted two articles.
Topics: I like to write about Employment & Training (including City Reviews, to answer HubPages Questions, and to participate in the Weekly HubMob (Writing Challenges), now called Weekly Inspiration Topics. Within those three interests, I will concentrate on Health & Medicine, Food, History, Social Issues, and Education.
The HubMob topic seriously motivated me this week and I had a good time creating the Hubs. I experienced some awesome insights along the way about people I have respected and liked, but now admire for their courage as well. Several connections within my own history emerged from bits and pieces of the past that had been fluttering at one another.
I have found RedGage easy to navigate and use, attractive to the eye as well. Many Hubbers are already on RedGage, so it's rather easy to build a community and obtain followers. Other articles and posts on the site are entertaining and interesting as well. If you'd like to join us, you can click the link above.
RedGage works MUCH better and faster in FireFox than in IE.

April 8 - 10
Thus far, my 60 Day Challenge Hubs are attracting traffic from 6 or 7 sources, except the last two Hubs, published most recently. "Celebrating Easter Monday" has 12 top sources. Incoming traffic is increasing from Twitter this week.
April 11 - 12
With some suggestions from sunforged and other 60DC Hubbers, I figured out how to use Twitterfeed for Facebook and Twitter postings and picked up additional contacts via both those sites and HubPages. I also picked up followers and began following a few additional people on RedGage. Some experimenting through the weeks taught more about posting and how to schedule future posts at more effective times and frequencies.
A couple of my Week 1 Challenge Hubs are up to 8 traffic sources. Princessa's HumBob this week is all about Cinco de Mayo and I can add Hubs about Mexican and Mexican Native American history and cuisine. A good and fun topic this week!
The Scottish HubMob was too interesting - I can't stop writing about Scotland! I'll also publish my turn at the Weekly HubNuggets Hub the morning of April 16 and I hope readers like it. Everyone can vote for their favorite newer Hubbers' articles and make more friends there. We've been writing a continuing Space Opera saga week by week and it's taking on a life of its own.
Weekly HubNuggets Hub - Hubnugget Corps of Engineers. It would be great of all the 60DC'ers would visit and vote --Thanks! Update: The HubNuggets Program became the Rising Stars and then transitioned to Promising Topics on HubPages Forums main page, located at the top, in blue.

I have to go in and add tags and headings, sometimes additional text, but it's good content. It is increasing my overall Internet traffic significantly.
A also joined William Shatner's MyOuterSpace.com for writer's networking on Planet CREATIA under the governorship of -- Alan Dean Foster!
Here's another useful social networking site that also uses AdSense, Amazon, and a linked button to add to your Facebook profile as an app: YouSayToo.com - updated in 2016 with additional features.
I joined SheToldMe, because several other Hubbers are on this site and find it useful. Through 2015, it proved somewhat useful to me as well.
April 21 - 22
Hub traffic picked up significantly beginning April 20-21, a little higher yet on April 22.
Interestingly, a person on another site saw about the jelly Hub (below), did not read it or the Hub, and took off in a political tangent about corn syrup. it should bring some new readers over here.
In the Hub up for Friday, I learned more about a controversial vaccine for lyme disease that can cause the disease and arthritis as side effects.
I'm excited to see today's HubNuggets Hub when it's listed in The Hubber's Hangout forum today and see how many of our 60 Day Challengers may be on the list. I hope some of our newer Hubbers joined us.
My views per day have increased +1,500 daily daily average since April 18 and are inching up daily.

Week 5: May 1 - May 7, 2010
Among my Hubs, 6 made a score of 100 all at the same time, with several also at 99. The larges numbers of "100s" I had at once previously was 3 and one time, 4, during a HubMob.
Views per day remain at the higher level accomplished with the help of participating in 60dc. Increased traffic seems stable.
May 8 - June 14
- All goals have been met, except for Amazon and eBay. Update: Amazon results continued to increase after the 60DC Challenge, through a Second 60DC Challenge, and on to a high during late 2011 to early 2012. From that point forward, my Amazon results have become more robust as I laern to use prodcuts best suited to my Hubs, from the choices the Amazon site offers.
June 14 - June 22
This has been a fantastic week at HubPages!
For a brief time on June 21, seven (7) of my Hubs reached a score of 100 at once and the daily earnings was markedly high compared to usual, which is increasing right along.
I hope that all of your work online is paying off for you!
June 23 - July 7, 2010
The Hubs within this 60DC Challenge continue to help boost page views, clicks, and income for participants long-term. This occurred for me almost automatically for eight months after the HP Challenge ended.
Any of the HubPages Challenges can serve as tools with which to increase your Internet and HubPages presence with a new core of high quality articles that will continue to gain readers - and income if income is your goal - over months and years. Updating Hubs is essential in the long run for most Hubs, as new information becomes available or you write new Hubs to link to your Challenge Hubs..
I hope participation in HubPages Challenges will produce similar good results for all of our participants.
Best of success to you!
