The best way to make money on hubpages

Updated on November 1, 2010

What is the best way to make money with Hubpages?

Upon writing this article I had only been a member of Hubpages for a mere 6 weeks. While I have made way more than should have been expected with Adsense, I have come to find that Adsense may not be the most beneficial revenue gainer on hubpages. Always experimenting with different methods, I have found that making money with the Amazon and eBay capsules can be far more beneficial. This particular hub is dedicated to making money with those two resources. To find out how to make money with Adsense, I do have a seperate hub for that here.

I do owe a very big thanks to some fellow hubbers that I have learned from such as Patty Inglish and Spacey Gracey among many others. I am a firm believer in promoting others hubpages because they can help you just as they have helped me. Check out their profile and you will see what I mean.

How to make more with Amazon and eBay auctions

In my experience, I do make more with Amazon than I do with eBay. I find Amazon auctions easier to manage, while you may have to edit a hub with eBay auctions each week. eBay is still a good resource, but it takes a lot of maintenance.

When using Amazon, you first need to write an engaging hub that lets everyone know that you know what you are talking about. The same backlinking and pinging procedures are needed, but the overall hubscore isn't your primary objective with these types of hubs. To have a successful Amazon hub, be sure to base it on something that you are familiar with. The more passion you show for the topic or product, the better chance you have that someone will purchase those items.

If you are a sports fan then those are probably the hubs you want to concentrate on. There are limitless products you can write about and promote. Try to add a back story to the hub and don't just overload it with irrelevant products. Nobody wants to go to a hub and see 100 products with a short description.

If you are going to try to sell sports memorabilia, the best option you may have is to base it on one team, such as the Colts or Steelers or whoever you know most about. You can add stats, bios or experiences that you have had while attending a game or meeting a professional athlete. Others like reading stories about famous people acting like the everyday average Joe.  For example: I used to work at a DirecTV call center, where we helped DirecTV customers troubleshoot their equipment or satellite service when it had failed. Most of these calls were horrible, but it was all about your experience. If you acted like you knew what you were doing then you had complete control and could most likely solve their problem eventually. One of my stories about a professional athlete includes Brett Favre. One day an elderly lady called in because her power had been off for a while. Once the power came back on, her service was out. Long story short, I helped her fix her problem, but noticed she was from Brett Favre's home town. I mentioned this to her and she went into a story about how she used to babysit Brett when he was a little boy. She was a friend of the family and had many stories of Brett as a kid.

Anyway, that is just an example of an experience that others would like to read. It is unfathomable that one could talk to a particular person that had such close ties to a famous person. Remember when you write your Amazon hubs, to make them interesting and hold your readers on that page. The longer they stay on that page, the better chance you have that they will go to one of the products you are promoting.

This is just a beautiful picture for you to look at while reading the rest of this hub. Look at that magnificent sunset.

Another method to make money with Amazon

Another way you can promote your Amazon hubs for more revenue is to jam pack it full of information about the product. While sometimes it is better to feature 15 products, there are several hubs that feature only 2 or 3 and make good sales. These hubs usually are directed at book, DVD and music reviews or certain products or micro niches.

For example: If you have read a good book lately, we will use Dean Koontz's "What the Night Knows", which hasn't came out yet, then write a short review of it. Show the readers what the book is about. Including main characters is a good thing to do. Also give a teaser. Don't give away the ending of the book, because that is probably some form of plagiarizing, not to mention people won't want to buy the book if they know the ending. Make your readers want to read the book. Present it like it is the best book in the world.

A well known fact is that people like to laugh amongst other people. Don't understand what I mean? Have you ever been in a crowd listening to a joke? Most observes didn't get the joke or didn't think it was that funny, but when one person thinks that it is so funny and begins to laugh, most of the time others will follow suit. People, in general, like to be in good company of other people. They want to have similar likes or common interests. This is where fads come from folks. It's 100% true. Even though you may not be like this, 90% of the rest of the world is.

Making money with Holiday themed Amazon Hubs

There are several holidays throughout the year. If you are like me, you probably don't give gifts for each holiday, but there are several people that do. Imagine if you have 5 different Easter hubs, 5 different Halloween hubs, 5 different Valentines Day hubs and 20 different Christmas hubs. Those are just a few of the holidays. We haven't even mention Chanukah, Mother's Day, Father's Day or St. Patrick's Day. Hundreds of Thousands of people buy gifts online for those holidays. When they use google search, they are looking for gift ideas. Branch out to everything you can think about. Make a hub about gifts for babies, religious gifts, gifts for teens, etc. The genres are endless.

A good way to set up a productive Holiday hub is to have an in depth description of the relevant items pertaining to your main topic. If you are making a hub about baby gifts, write a short review of each item that you are pushing. People want to know what the item can do, how durable it is, how safe it is, why they should buy it online rather than get it from a retail store. So make sure you express the savings and convenience of purchasing it online by saying, "you won't even have to leave your home. you will save money just by not using gas to go purchase it at a retail store". Anything to persuade them to buy it from you instead of somewhere else.

If you are having problems coming up with ideas on which kind of hubs to write, just turn to our 21rst century wealth of daily information platform, known as the television. Remember thos boring QVC and other shopping channels that you always surf by when watching television? These are now a part of your arsenal. There are actually some pretty cool products on those shows even though they do not appeal to you and I. Another resource you have is Google. So many times I have gone from page to page, picking out certain items that I thought many would like or may not know existed. The reason these items may not be selling on other pages is because they are not promoted like we can promote them on hubpages. We have the ability to input an item amongst a few other items and reveal their existence to a wider audience.

This is just a footnote, but necessary to add. Then more hubs, the better. This may not be true with Adsense, but the more Amazon products you have out there, the better chance you have of making a sale. So write write write.

I hope this has shed some light on the possibilities and methods you can use to make more money with hubpages. If you would like to discuss anything, feel free to contact me at anytime. You can also use the comments section of this page if you like.

Good information! I have tried to sign up with Amazon, and the code number wasn't correct to put into the monitor box? Is there a trick to getting this right? Appreciate your advice! Great page:)

Signing up should be easy enough. Try using the steps on hubpages. Sometimes it can get a bit confusing. It has been a while since I signed up. But I remember following those instructions. You always want to make sure because you have to provide a certain web address.

I haven't tried a sales hub yet. It's like jumping in the pool the first time. I'm scared...just can't seem to jump in.....I'm scared I'll look like an idiot. My hubber score has already gone dwon for some reason.(it is usually between 97-100. I feel that my hubs so far are a job well done.A bad hub would be bad.

A great hub! Most of my hubs are about products but I don't actually write much about a specific product (except for my top 10s). This is a priceless advice. Thanks.
