The ease of hubpages

Updated on June 21, 2010

Whim lead into an addiction

I have always been an internet junkie to an extent. I attend classes online, I grocery shop online and I do my Christmas shopping online. While surfing the wonderful world of the internet I landed one www.hubpages.com. I had now clue what hubpages were nor do i even remember what lead me to the site. Be that as it may I landed on the site. After looking around and reading some hubs I felt as though hubpages would be a nice hobby for me to do in my down time. After further examination I realized that it could be a money making case cow that I could invest my time and energy into creating. And now something I've done on a whim has turned into to a quasi addiction.

Do I have to be a professional writer?

I was very intememdated when reading all the profiles and going through the hubs. I am not a professional writer nor do I have any desire to become a writer. Now that I've been on hubpages for bit I've realized the answer is "NO". Anyone can write a great hub on hubpages. this is a great place to share your passion. What ever your passion may be. Whether your passiona is writing, cooking, or giving advice, the possibilities are endless. I love roaming through the pages and reading. I have not found my niche just yet but I feel that's partially due to the fact that I love to learn about any and everything. I guess my passion is sharing.

What's my niche?

My niche is everything. I love learning about everything. I have an opinion on anything. I find I write about things that come to mind at the moment. Ideas can be found from TV, radio, the Internet and everyday life. Although being unique and genuine is important, I do not stress out about my hub topics. If a topic interest me, then there is a good chance it will interest someone else in this vast world.

If you build it they will come.

Its true if you make a hub you will get a few hits from people here and there. But, if you want to drive traffic to your hubs then you have to be active. Here's a couple that I've found handy.

  • Social bookmark (digg,furl, etc)
  • Email your friends and family in your address book
  • Word of mouth (my fav)
  • Forums and chat rooms
  • Myspace and facebook
  • Your signature on email
  • Get to know others on hub pages!!

Why I love hubpages

  • There are no fees to pay
  • No quotas to meet
  • Your not locked into a topic to write about
  • It's easy
  • It's a wonderful place to get info on just about anything.
  • It's fun
  • You can earn money form home
  • You can work from anywhere

All good things come to those that wait

Generating funds from hubpages do not happen over night. I've learned that it will take time to generate traffic. Also, it takes time to learn what will attract attention.I am not an SEO wizard and I know very little about this new world that I've stepped into. I do not expect for hubpages to be my ticket to riches. Anyone would be a fool to think that its quick, easy and big money. All good things take time and work. But I have to admit I am loving making these hubs.

Great to read this as a very first time Hubber. I still don't really know what a "Hub" is but I'm am playing around, clicking 'here and there' reading articles, profiles, et cetera. I guess the "making money" doing this caught my eyes to be honest and reading this Hub page article has really helped me kinda understand Hubs a little more. Thanks!

The more I read, the more I continue to learn. Thank you for becoming my very first fan! I did not even know what that meant at the time! Now I will return the favor. Keep writing!
