UPDATE: AdSense Account Reinstated

Updated on October 28, 2012

UPDATE 3/2/2011

**Update** I got an email from AdSense today and they say that upon further review they are reversing their decision and reinstating my account. SO, I guess maybe they finally saw I did not do anything wrong. I am very grateful and relieved for this... yet a bit shook up still that it even happened.. I guess they weren't quite as horrible as I thought- though I still feel what happened was wrong. Anyway, just want everyone to know (that have read this hub and for all who commented) that they did actually reverse their decision and reinstate my account. I really hope this was a freak thing that happened to me and doesn't happen often to other people. Who knows?

Here is what happened:

I signed up for Adsense a few months ago when I first started writing on HubPages. It wasn't the main reason I joined but Adsense quickly became a huge motivator for me after I checked my earnings and they were actually adding up. Though it was slow earnings, I was okay with that. It really motivated me to continue with my writing and really started to pay attention to my hubs making sure that they were in proper format and all that stuff. I wrote mainly about stuff that I was interested in but what I felt like others would be interested in as well, like arts and craft tutorials, link to tutorials etc. I put A LOT of energy into it almost every single day. So, the other day I checked my email and all of the sudden I get this email:

Subject : Google Adsense Account Disabled

After reviewing our records, we've determined that your AdSense account
poses a risk of generating invalid activity. Because we have a
responsibility to protect our AdWords advertisers from inflated costs due
to invalid activity, we've found it necessary to disable your AdSense
account. Your outstanding balance and Google's share of the revenue will
both be fully refunded back to the affected advertisers.

Please understand that we need to take such steps to maintain the
effectiveness of Google's advertising system, particularly the
advertiser-publisher relationship. We understand the inconvenience that
this may cause you, and we thank you in advance for your understanding and
cooperation.

If you have any questions or concerns about the actions we've taken, how
you can appeal this decision, or invalid activity in general, you can find
more information by visiting
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=57153.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

I have done a MAJOR edit to this hub because the original was filled with a lot of disappointment and anger at adsense because I thought they had wrongfully closed my account. Since they have now reinstated it, I am not sure what to do now... as I still feel strongly that what happened was wrong. I never wanted to discourage anyone from being affiliated with adsense but I did want to make other serious writers aware of what had happened to me.

What I can do is share my experience and that is that on 2/14/2011 I got an email that my account was disabled for invalid click activity (email above) I felt the reason was vague and they would not expand on the reason for terminating my account. I then appealed and the appeal was denied BUT I have received an email on 3/2/2001 stating that they have reversed their decision and are in fact reinstating my account. As I stated in this hub (before the edit) I was very angry and hurt over this and now, since this has happened, it leaves me confused, wondering why all this happened in the first place.

So for whatever reason (still don't know) my account was posing a risk for invalid click activity so they disabled it. Maybe disabling doesn't necessarily mean closing for good? Anyway, they disabled it and then re-reviewed the records and made the decision (a few weeks later) it didn't pose a risk for invalid click activity so they have now reinstated it?  From what I've read about invalid click activity there is pretty much nothing I could have done to prevent it and there's no way anyone could have come in and logged into my account and clicked on my ads unless a someone broke into my house, logged onto my account and clicked on the ads.  It's a big question mark but I sure hope it doesn't happen again.

If nothing else this has made me more aware of needing to pay attention to all the details like eCPM and things like that and also I plan to start paying more attention to other details of my account besides just the earnings. I just sure do hope that this doesn't happen again to me or anyone else. This whole thing has been really stressful but what I can say for adsense is they did the right thing and reinstated my account.

My adsense account was disabled and I think it's because my friends know how ads work and they know that by clicking on them helps me earn money. I didnt force them to do that. In fact my youtube channel is just a jobby. What do I do to appeal for it? :(

Great News! My Adsense is back up and running. Wooo Hooo!

It turns out that my Hosted Adsense account years ago was never truly fully approved. There was nothing in their system and I used the email address I had previously used for adsense and it was approved. Weird since I had a publishers account. I remember I had just become a member back then and didn't have much content. What a jumbled mess, but it is all better now.

Heather- I'm sorry to hear that has happened. I remember how I felt and it really was hard. Though I am truly, truly grateful my account was re-instated, I know that doesn't seem to be the case for many. Out of curiosity, what was the reason they disabled your account? Good luck to you :)

I was just notified by Hubpages today that my Ad-earnings program was not active. Which I thought was weird. Then I saw that Adsense had disabled my account. I put in an appeal today. Wish me luck. I will be crushed if they deny me. I joined Hubpages over 6 years ago, now I'm back and writing more content again. I was getting excited about increasing my earnings. Now I'm sad.

GirlsTalk- HI... sorry this happened to you :( When this happened to me, I wrote and filed an appeal (I think it was called) and told them I was innocent but I was emailed back and told the appeal was denied.. However a few weeks later, I was contacted by email and it stated they had made a decision to re-instate my account. Surely if they see you are innocent, they will give you another chance.. Best of luck to you :)

I also just had my adsense disabled for inappropriate clicks, and I understand your disappointment. My clicks worked out at only 1 click per thousand pages. I had 14 clicks in 5 months and 14000 pages viewed. I just told them that I hardly thought 3 clicks a month over 14,000 pages could hardly be called excessive. I certainly didn't click any of the adverts either, so I'm hoping to have account reinstated also. Did you say the first time they said they wouldn't reinstate, but then changed their mind and reinstated your account?

That is awesome! So glad it's working for you and that your sis is doing good as well and I'm sure she will reach payout soon... a lower payout threshold is a huge motivator. So glad to hear from you! Keep up the great work :)

Aww...thanks Jamie! My sister has also a few hubs on Squidoo, but she is focusing more on her blogs. We have monetized our blogs with other ad networks such as Chitika and Infolinks. Both have much lower payout thresholds compared to Adsense, but we haven't reached them yet.

After I got an email from Squidoo telling me that they had sent me my first payment, I was really surprised! My sister got excited so she started transferring more hubs to her Squidoo account too (At first she got discouraged to write on Squidoo because she couldn't publish some of her articles there. Squidoo has different set of rules from HP.). Anyway, I hope that she will reach her first payout soon.:)

Hi there! So great to "see" you!! I am really happy to hear that you are still writing and I hear Squidoo is another great site, one of the few that are comparable to HP.. So glad to hear you are having success but it's not surprising because you are a great writer and you definitely deserve it! Any money earned is awesome.. there is no feeling like getting that payout. Just keep on writing and your earnings will surely grow :) Best of luck to you... how is your sis? I'm going to stop over at Squidoo sometime and see you :)

Hello Jamie! It's been a while since I last commented here. I just want to let you know that I'm now earning a bit even without my Adsense.:) I have transferred some of my hubs to Squidoo and I have reached my first payout in June this year. I reached my payout two more times after that.:) It's really not much (especially compared to what I earned in Adsense), but I'm still glad because the earnings had already been transferred to my Paypal account, which means that I can spend the money now! I'm in the process of learning more about Squidoo. I miss HubPages and everyone here, but I'm glad that I found Squidoo. I can still continue to write and earn a bit from it.:)

kai0224liu- Welcome to HubPages. I went over to have a look at your hubs to see what might be the problem and I think it's because you only have one hub written. I believe they have tightened their criteria and are requiring applicants to have multiple, good quality hubs written. I would write some more hubs and then re-apply. You can re-apply can't you? Best of luck to you!

jamiebrock, congrats on having your Adsense a/c reinstated. My a/c has been diasapproved twice probably because I am from a country for which google has put a 6 months active account condition. I am still waiting for the period to get over. In the meantime I ame writing regularly and try to follow all conditions of compliance to Google's terms. I hope I get the approval soon.

Your hub is a morale booster to those whose accounts are on hold.

Hello Jamie, I read all your hubs about ad sense account reinstating experience. I am glad that you get your account back. Hope it gets better in the future.

I need your help Jamie, my ad sense account has been deleted for no reason, and the state that my account posed significant risk to their adwords advertisers. I have no idea what kind of reason is that? Why they disabled my account only because of an idea that I could be a risk for them? It is unfair.

As you have gotten your ad sense account back, please tell me something about writing a good appeal that could be noticed? Because I have learned that the chances of getting reinstated are very less.

Please contact me somehow, your help will be highly appreciated. I feel terrible about this, I work for another ad sense revenue sharing website as well named webanswers.com and I am .

      Thank you.

It's good to hear that someone innocent has been reinstated. I don't think you're being oversensitive. It's truly upsetting, especially after all your time and effort. I got banned a couple of days ago even if I haven't clicked my ads nor had asked anyone to do so. I felt cheated too. For now, I'm trying to collect as much data as I can to prove my innocence. I haven't appealed yet. I'm so worried that they would ban me forever.

Jamie-- it's a hard thing to have happened but as I've said I am glad to read you've been re-instated. Clcik fraud is a huge issue, and I've done a "I think there there is an invalid click" many time although Google says you don't need to I think it's worth it.

If you are very proactive in check analytics ( it takes a while to wrap yoru head aorund it) this is valuabel since you can go out of your way to show info to Google.

I know it's very boring to look at numbers, but I think, and beleive that if you are able to send information to them, even with one of their "not needed" forms you'll be safer this way as well.

    • profile image

      ronjersan 6 years ago

I didn't open my hubpage account since adsense terminate my account without knowing any reason they're just experimenting people if they have a software to detect fraud clicking there software is not accurate maybe they no intention to pay some some adsense user they are partially scam no i turned to sign up www.adbrite.com and it is pretty cool working and they paid on time. adsense in next few years maybe theres no sense at all.

Valory Elizabeth, Thanks so much for reading and for the comment. I agree with you 100%! There should be some system in place to monitor this stuff besides Google.. a system that can make sure Google isn't ripping off people. There's no telling how much money they make off people... yet we can't question when we have been wronged by Google.. Yeah, they reinstated my account but I've made hardly a penny since.. I was up to 10.00 sometimes 15.00 per month before they closed my account back in Feb. I don't know if I'll ever reach the 100.00 pay out.. guess we will see.

Thank you for commenting and I wish you the best of luck!

I cannot help but to think that there should be some reputable company that monitors Google and some of the other website owners to make sure they are not trying to pull a fast one on writers like this.

Sure, there must be some type of problem with dishonest people doing these underhanded things to try to cheat the system, but not everyone is a greedy no good who is only out to lie and steal from big companies or website owners who are actually running a scam.

I think to many honest people are being accused of things that they would never ever think of doing, and it just seems to be fine for the big boys to lie, cheat and steal from us.

I think there should be some type of company that monitors these bigwigs to make sure they are actually being honest too.

I mean for goodness sake, we know what we do all day and if Not clicking ads is one of them, we know it. These bigwigs might have the money and make up rules, but they are no better than the regular everyday person.

Either you are honest or you are not. Big companies and some website owners need someone watching over them to keep them from cheating us.

Someone should create such a site to make sure that everything is on the up and up, there's too much garbage going on when things like this happen, I think...

Well, Jamie, I told you a few months ago that I was starting to make money on Adsense. I got two payments and got banned this week. I was denied on appeal. Adsense is a scam. I will make it my mission in life to make sure people I encounter on the internet understand this. If you get a check, they make you a target. Eventually, everyone will see Google Adsense is getting free advertising by having their ads placed on so many different blogs and sites. The only one really making money is Google. I wish I would have understood that a few months ago. You can click on my username and find that I made a hub about my being banned by Adsense for "invalid click activity." I simply have no idea how that could happen unless someone kept clicking on my ads as a means to get me banned.

It is really Good. Example has been created. Google is strict about it's policy and they need to be to stay in the competitive market but generally considering and returning an account after disabling it will really encourage others.

MikeNV, Thanks for reading and for the nice comment. I do keep hearing how rare it is to get an account back once it's been disabled. I can only hope Google is trying to get a better system in place so that innocent people will stop having their accounts closed. Good luck to you, thank you again for reading!

Wow that's amazing! I got my Adwords account suspended for a website that I don't even own, promote or go to. I tried multiple times to convince Google that it wasn't my site. They just didn't care. After sending about 10 emails they finally came back and said they didn't like the way I was doing business on my site. So good for you maybe there really is some decent people who work at Google.

It's nice to see one good story about Adsense in this context. There have been so many people who have been "Dolphin in the Tuna Net" and Adsense almost NEVER reinstates an account. In fact they have almost ZERO support staff for Adsense now and have shifted them all over to Adwords so they can SELL and make more money. So if you trip something up in the Software and get banned your chances of reinstatement are very very slim... even if you did nothing wrong. So Congratulations!

herbalshealth, Thank you for the nice comment. I read your hub and to me it's a really good informative hub. I'm probably the wrong person to ask though about what could be wrong because I'm still a newby with AdSense.. and still learning myself. My advice would be to post it in the HubPage AdSense forums and let some more seasoned AdSense writers lend their expertise. Wish I could be more help.. Good luck to you :)

margaretamcgee, Thank you for reading.. I agree with you.. definitely hope this isn't happening to other people who are innocent. I am still not sure if this is a common problem among people who are participating with AdSense but hoping this sort of thing is uncommon and lots of people aren't losing accounts over something they didn't do. Best of luck to you!

GlstngRosePetals, I completely understand your frustration! It's really discouraging when you work so hard on this stuff and you don't seem to be getting anywhere. Just hang in there though.. maybe you are just having a little dip right now in earnings and they will be back up soon. Just don't give up.. that's what I keep telling myself, anyway! Take Care :)

friends647, Thank you for reading! What I did was signed up through HubPages for AdSense and also Analytics..I think by clicking on My Account and then Earnings... It should walk you through from there (If I am remembering correctly) It was a pretty easy process. If you need more help you can ask questions in the forum. I don't know a whole lot about it but I wish you the best of luck!!

My advise would be for you to read over the Terms of Service really well and then just do the very best you can to adhere to the Terms of Service and then write about what you love.. or about things that spark your interest. Take Care and Good Luck :)

Thanks for the "heads up." Am I the only one who doesn't understand AdSense? I'm not very computer savvy, so I always feel that I make mistakes that others wouldn't make - I'm intimidated by AdSense and don't understand it at times....

Glad to hear it. Oddly enough,I had just opened my Hubpages account a few days before and only had two hubs. The first time I applied I did it wrong. The second time I was approved. Very strange after reading so many other stories.
