Updated on February 5, 2016

HubPages is an amazing online writing community where you can find information on just about anything you can imagine. Read, write, connect with others, and potentially earn money. HubPages can be highly addictive so proceed with caution and Hub responsibly.

DISCLAIMER:

HubPages is highly addictive.

Do not use in the shower.

Do not use while driving.

May contain nuts.

May irritate eyes.

Misuse may cause injury or death.

What is HubPages?

HubPages is a social, information network. Members have the ability to read and write Hubs on a variety of topics including:

A HubPages member, aka Hubber, can potentially earn money writing Hubs through the Affiliate program. Each Hubber is given a HubScore ranging from 0-100. This score varies and is based on a variety of factors including quality and popularity of Hubs, and participation in the HubPages community.

HubPages is an amazing website allowing you to connect with people from around the world. It is a great source of information. Read, write, make friends, and potentially earn money. HubPages also hosts challenges in which you can earn money and recognition.

WARNING

HubPages is highly addictive.

There is so much to do here on HubPages. You can find the answers to any of your questions; and if you can't you just ask the question yourself and get answers. Read Hubs from contributors from around the world and see how things are viewed and done in different countries. HubPages is so rewarding that you can expect to become addicted. Signs and symptoms to look out for include:

  • Checking HubPages multiple times a day
  • Frequently asking Questions, posting to Forums, reading Hubs and writing Comments
  • Logging into HubPages just to check your HubScore
  • Browsing HubPages from your smart phone while lying in bed before going to sleep
  • Telling everyone you know about HubPages
  • Making frequent references to something you read on HubPages

Do not use in the shower.

Accessing HubPages requires a web connection. The use of either a laptop or smart phone in the shower is not recommended and can be hazardous to your health and may result in permanent damage to your electronic device.

Do not use while driving.

Refrain from browsing HubPages while driving. This can result in a serious accident injuring yourself and/or others. If an officer observes you accessing HubPages while driving you will be pulled over and ticketed. The expression "But I wasn't texting while driving, I was browsing HubPages" does not work.

May contain nuts.

Hubbers write about many topics; nuts included. You may find Hubs about types of nuts, recipes for nuts, risks and benefits of nuts, personal experiences with nuts, how to grow nuts etc... So beware, this product may contain nuts.

May irritate eyes.

Staring at your phone or computer screen for hours on end, while feeding your HubPages addiction, may result in eye irritation.

Misuse may cause injury or death.

There are many ways that the misuse of HubPages can result in injury or death. As previously mentioned, use in the shower or while driving can be potentially fatal. HubPages addicts often stay up for hours on end browsing the site. Sleep is important and necessary to maintain one's health. Use HubPages responsibly and get adequate sleep. You may think it is a good idea to browse HubPages while cooking or boiling water. This is not recommended because the information found on HubPages tends to be so interesting that you may lose track of time and burn your house down.

Proceed With Caution

I hope you enjoy HubPages as much as I do. Personalize HubPages by joining the topics that appeal to you and follow Hubbers that write about things that interests you. And most importantly, write about what you know and love. This will attract followers that are like-minded. Have fun and be safe.

@visionandfocus so glad I could make you laugh. This Hub was inspired one day when I nearly burned the house down, after forgetting that I had water boiling, while browsing HubPages. Yup... That was me.

"May contain nuts"--lol! I thought you meant hubbers who are nutters! I'm sure they are present. Also, I didn't realise I was an addict until I read your list of signs and symptoms--I'm so busted!

Thanks for sharing! I had a good laugh. :) Voted up!

This was great! I have often found myself having to check "one last time" before sleep and ended up staying up a couple of hours reading great hubs or hub hopping myself to sleep. This is against my very belief that phones don't belong in bed...yet I find myself sneaking mine often. :) I find that we have a lot of great writers, which definitely make it easy to spend hours reading and commenting. Thank you for sharing this humorous account of the Hubpages community!

Thanks @50 Caliber great Hubs add fuel to the fire and feed all of our addictions... But it is such a great addiction.

Good job! Layed out well, leading the mind on paths of for and by nuts being the most prominent, to me, anyway. I find empty cashew cans on my desk with no memory of eating 2 pounds of nuts while reading. I miss the photos on most hubs that are not photo hubs, being drawn into the writing deep enough to miss life for a whole day at times, very good content here that is a helper to getting lost. Throw me a rope!

      thanx, 50

Lol. This is really funny. I enjoyed the hub. But I love this sentence the most. Quoted: The expression "But I wasn't texting while driving, I was browsing HubPages" does not work.

Highly amusing hub, which made me laugh. I am suffering from all of the signs and symptons of Hubpages addiction. I've been on here every day in the past year of joining, except for one week on holiday last August. Great hub. Voted up - funny/interesting.
