What Are Your Experiences of HubPages? Topics Include: Money, Page Views, and Negative Comments

Updated on November 13, 2014

I know that most people will have a different experience with Hubpages and that's fine. These are some of the questions I have been dyong to ask other Hubbers.

1. Each month, how much do you get paid for a single article? I am not asking your net income or anything like that.

2. Do you use a lot of advertising through Amazon and EBay? Does it help a lot?

3. Does your earning potential get better over time?

14, Do controversial subjects help or hurt your overall page views?

15. What are your favorite subjects that make a lot of money?

16. How many articles do you need to complete to get $100 a month on average?

17. What are the some of the most favorite hubs most people really like?

18. Are there other free-lance websites that you like more?

19. Do you think the page views counter we are given is accurate?

Some good information. Glad you posted this as a hub versus a forum.

In all, I just get a few cents a month, and just up to the double digits for most of by hubs. My hub about forms of deviance in Japan has the most views ever, reaching over a thousand. The numbers improved with time. Most of my hubs are chapters of my original fiction stories.

Ali, if I was writing for money I would write a different type of hubs than I do, or somewhere else like Bubblews I guess. My hubs are mostly creative writing like poetry, short stories, and I don't have a niche as I continually want to experiment with new things. Like grand old lady, I have been here a long time and only made my first payout this year. Other hubbers seem to enjoy my writing but I don't think I have high outside views. My hub with the highest outside readership is a poem that is a protest against sex trafficking called "Follow Me."

Grand old lady, thank you so much for your comments that really did make sense to me and I will definitely look into Billy Buck and all the comments that he has written. Thank you so much again, Alli.

Dana, I think you're onto something. Because recipes, the individual needs to look at the page for a long period of time, and that scores of the viewing points. Thank you so much for your comment I really do appreciate it.

I just made my first 50 dollars since I started here. Got the payment a few weeks back. I usually put my locally published work here so it helps me because I get paid locally and can use the same pieces here to get a little bit more. Also, I love the Hub Pages community. Regarding negative comments, I only entertain them if the person can be identified. But maybe I only had 3 in all my time here. Now I'm testing out my fiction here, thanks to a lot of encouraging pieces from Billybuc and food for the soul from EricDierker. Dollars go a lot farther in the Philippines than in the US.

I think the best hubs that make money are how to do or, recipe hubs. My most money making hub is the one I wrote on fibroids and endometriosis. I also do quite well on sales from amazon. However, I still haven't written that big- money making hub yet.

I haven't made any big money yet but I've only been around for around six months. I am just looking to boost my exposure and because I love to write. I'll be anxious to see if you get an answer from BillyBuc as his hubs seem to get the largest responses.

It is too big to expect $100 a month. Is it possible for anybody? Here I am, with 14 cents against 13 hubs.

I know other folks make decent money here, but I am not one of them. I've not yet mastered that but then, I write about urgent issues, like starving bees and too many labels...but I wanted to comment on your hub because I think it's smart. You are asking the questions that I never do so I hope we both learn. Thanks

Check out Freedomwithwriting dot com - they send out emails with reviews on different ways to make money as a writer and even "How to" ebooks. Their most recent ebook was on how to publish your own ebook and make good money as an ebook author.

Also, as far as page views go, I think some of the page views must be me viewing them because I'll have two or three views before they are even published. Who else could view a hub before it's published, right?

From my experience writing on Yahoo, having a series of articles can help keep traffic moving to your articles (thus why I have my "Casting Basics" series started early). And I love buying books on Amazon (I know, shame on me - it's really no better than Walmart for our economy), so regardless of whether or not it increases my earnings, I always try to add "homework" for my readers by finding a couple of related items they can snag on Amazon, whether book or DVD.

      Hope that helped, Alli!
